Friendly staff and quite accommodation Visited: September 2007 |

I stayed at Maria's By The Sea Hotel September 2007, when I visited the island to witness the Miss Caribbean World Pageant. I found the staff at the front desk to be extremly helpful and friendly, and I was even given a room that I did not pay for.
I can and would recommend anyone going to Tortola to stay at Maria's, because it is easy to get around from the hotel and the staff they are always willing to give information and to answer questions.
I met the owner, she is a very nice person, and I met two of the daughters who work at the hotel and they were really nice ladies.
I would say stay at Maria's and make your own judgement, because everyone sees things differently.
Keep the good works up and continue to make your guests happy and comfortable.

Wow, what a great place to stay on vacation! Guava Road was so comfortable, and so close to great beaches and restaurants. Sebastian's is a must!
My fiance and I absolutely loved the accommodations, and Pat and Alphonso really made us feel at home.

Alphonso and Pat are the perfect hosts, and give every effort to making your stay enjoyable and easy! You'll be as sorry to leave them behind as you are the BVI.
The accommodations are comfortable and large - but cozy. Every small touch or extra has been thought of, especially tons of beach towels - which is so useful with the beautiful beaches nearby.
Be sure to see Long Bay's beach!

Magic Castle, Tortola, BVI traveler review
We loved this place. Visited: April 2008 |

This was our third stay at the Magic Castle Villa at Little Bay. We loved this place, and dream about it in the "off" season.
It is a truly spiritual place: gorgeous views, great amenities, privacy, and total relaxation. It is off the beaten path, which makes it even more attractive.
Eva is a most gracious host, and we are so thankful to have found her and her beautiful home. If you're looking for a special spot - this place is it! |

Heritage Inn, Tortola, BVI traveler review
This was just what we wanted. Visited: April 2008 |

We have visited Tortola for eight years now, and often stay at a hotel before we check into our rental villa. We have stayed at numerous places around the island, and this year we stayed at Heritage Inn.
What a treat. It was a great place. Chris and her staff were friendly and attentive, yet not intrusive. Our room was clean, neat, and comfortable. Also, the view was one of the best in the islands.
If you are looking for a day or two, or a week or two - you won't be disappointed here. Enjoy this beautiful spot! |

We enjoyed the Sugar Mill Restaurant and Inn. Visited: May 2008 |

My wife and I spent two days at the Sugar Mill preceding a Bareboat charter. We loved it - both the restaurant and the inn.
We reserved the cottage along with another couple who had to cancel their trip at the last minute. So, we ended up with a huge suite-like arrangement to ourselves, which was extra nice.
We dined at the hotel both nights, and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. I doubt that there is a better restaurant on Tortola. And, in speaking with others on the sailing part of our trip, that seems to be the consensus of opinion among residents and tourists.
We wouldn't hesitate for a second to go back - and probably will. |

If you prefer laid-back surroundings, great service, and feeling like you are part of the family, the Tamarind Club in Josiah's Bay is the place.
My wife and I have stayed at the Tamarind Club four times, and it gets better every time. It is the perfect place to stay for your first and last night if you are chartering in the BVI. It is also great for those who want a very private, yet casual place to escape for an extended period.
Although it is not on the water, the level of service (and bartending) more than makes up for it.
Finally, if you like to go where the locals go when they have the time off, Tamarind is the place. Their Sunday brunch is the best on Tortola, and you can gorge yourself in your bikini or surf trunks without feeling out-of-place. |

Sea View Hotel, Tortola, BVI traveler review
All we heard was "cock a doodle doo!". Visited: December 2007 |

The Sea View was a very basic, but inexpensive hotel just off downtown Road Town. Its rooms were clean but noisy. A vigorous rooster crowed off and on all night long, and traffic noise from the main island road roared by all night long just beneath the window.
It was a functional - but not great - room. |

What a motto! The Heritage Inn delivers on that statement - the views are wonderful.
It is a quaint hotel with a warm heart - just like Chris and her great staff (thanks, Spicey, for the recipe!). The staff makes your stay special.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, and they serve great food at the Bananakeet Cafe. You can't go wrong here.
If we ever get back to BVI, there's no question it's the Heritage Inn. |

Three years ago, this was a wonderful place to stay. My last experience was much worse.
The staff was indifferent -and even rude. The room was mosquito infested. The food at the restaurant was good, assuming that you can ever find someone to take your order! |

We had an absolutely brillant time at the Sugar Mill Hotel. We had a lovely room, the staff was great, and the food was to die for.
Both my husband and I agreed that it was the best vacation we had in our 15 years of marital bliss.
We are definitely coming back next year! |

My husband and I chose Long Bay because we wanted a place to get pampered. We couldn't have been more let down.
I needed an extra towel, and we asked the lady who cleaned our room. She told my husband she would leave one, but she never did. Then, we left a friendly reminder note. Still, no extra towel. My husband had to go to the manager to complain. Finally, we got an extra towel.
The food was over-priced and not very tasty. The service was slow, and it felt like pulling teeth to get anything.
As for the "deluxe" oceanfront rooms: We spent a fortune to be on the beach. Except, we couldn't see the beach that well from our room because there were too many shrubs in the way.
The beach was pretty, but there were too many rocks to swim. You could really get hurt, so we never stayed here for swimming. We always went to Smuggler's Cove.
As for the rooms - the beds were so hard we couldn't really sleep. The rooms also seemed really in need of refurbishing. They were dinghy.
The water was turned off a few times, and the power went off on numerous occasions! There was lots of construction going on, too.
I really wish we had picked a different spot, but if I can help someone not make the same mistake - I'll be happy. If you want to be spoiled and pampered, Long Bay Beach Resort is not the place for you! |

Heritage Inn, Tortola, BVI traveler review

We stayed at Heritage Inn for two nights in early April after chartering a catamaran for a week. This was our sixth charter, and we now have a new tradition -- Heritage Inn for two-three nights after the charter!
Chris and everyone at Heritage Inn were great. They made us feel like we were part of the family. The view was outstanding, and the food at Bannakeet was superb!
My kids loved it (9,7,5). We spent the day at the beach, and the kids enjoyed the pool while we enjoyed happy hour. We ate dinner both nights at the Bannakeet - delicious. We hated to leave.
Our room was huge, and perfect for our family. Everything was clean. Again, the view can't be beat! I recommend the Heritage Inn for couples, families - anyone. Just don't take my room when I want to go back!

We were delighted with our short holiday at the Sugar Mill Hotel. We were greeted by wonderful and friendly staff. We had just come off a seven-day bareboat cruise with weather that was less than perfect.
We were so pleased by the lovely adjoining rooms with a perfect patio and landscaping that framed a post card view.
The dinner menu for that evening was available for review in the morning - a clever devise to get you geared up for a great meal. It was! Fabulous and creative entrees with fresh local ingredients, were beautifully prepared and served with a smile.
Our group ate at the Sugar Mill every night of our three-night stay by popular demand. The menu changed daily, and the variety of choices was wonderful. On the busiest night with a full dining room, our meal was served promptly, and was perfectly prepared.
This is a wonderful gem, and we will return. |

Everyone is on "island time" here. Visited: October 2007 |

The staff is wonderful. Speed is a bit slow, but predictably so. Hence, island time.
Food is average, but not bad. They have very friendly staff. Do not be in a hurry, or you will be disapointed. I suspect that is the speed throughout the islands.
I do recommend! |

We are a family of four, with two teens 15 and 17. Our stay at the Fort Recovery Villas was an outstanding family vacation.
We booked a two-bedroom lower level villa. The beach was approximately 70 steps from the patio door, and looked out across the Sir Francis Drake Channel to St. John.
The staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the dining arrangements were elegant.
Also, the snorkel trip to Norman Island on the Fort Recovery boat was a highlight and not to be missed.
We found the atmosphere at Fort Recovery highly restful and authentic. It is a small operation compared to some larger chain resorts. While not offering all the amenities a larger operation could, the sense of location and getting way from it all was superb. It was also located within easy access to West End and Nanny Cay.
A vehicle is recommended for getting around. |

We recently returned from our trip to the Sugar Mill Hotel, and it was truly a fantastic vacation. Everything was lovely from beginning to end.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a lovely lady at the front desk whom informed us we had been given a complimentary upgrade into the Plantation House Suite.
What a fantastic room! It had such a great view, and was absolutely spotless - not to mention the hammock on the balcony.
The property was beautiful and quiet. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, and always with a smile on their faces. No request was too great.
Also, dinner was amazing, with a menu that changed nightly. We ate at the Sugar Mill every night of our stay and were never disappointed.
From the housekeeping staff to the management, everyone ensured that our stay at the Sugar Mill was one to remember. We will tell our friends, and we will certainly be back next year! |

We just returned from a great stay at the Sugar Mill Hotel in Tortola. We were on their Adventure Package, and all I can say is -wow!
We had a beautiful room (called the Cottage). We also enjoyed amazing food. The chef created a specific menu nightly to suit my gluten free diet.
The features of the package were great. We enjoyed diving, daysailing, flight to another island, castaway beach picnic and an amazing room to return to.
The room also had an outside shower. It was really nice bathing under the stars while listening to the crickets and tree frogs in the background. It was so cool.
Also, the staff was very friendly and efficient. We can't wait to go back next year. |

My husband and our three children (ages 9, 13 and 18) stayed at this hotel in March for 12 days.
We had a lovely stay from start to finish. Pamelah and Matt (hotel office managers) were more than helpful and attentive, very genuine people, friendly and informative.
Our room was great. We stayed in a three-bedroom suite which had a view to die for! We were on the ground level (as opposed to the penthouses they had), and we loved that we were just inches from diving into the water every day which was relaxing!
The beach was small, and perfect. Families with young kids will love this because we didn't notice any rough surf or anything hazardous at the property at all. We were very happy to be able to relax from our deck and watch our youngest daughter playing with the cute puppy "Becky" who seemed to provide hours of entertainment to the kids staying at the hotel.
Service at the restaurant was friendly and generally helpful. It was a little slow, but we were accustomed to the "island time" pace of things from having stayed on Virgin Gorda and Anegada in the past.
Overall, we loved this place and would return in a minute! |
