Have you visited Spanish Bay Reef Resort? We'd love to know what you think...
Please write a review with as much detail as possible. Tell us about the amenities, facilities and staff.
Our primary needs were a nice location where they treat you well. We did not want to spend time going to other locations to eat, or pay the expensive prices of food and drink, especially since we have two teen boys along.
We were treated exceptionally well. We felt those like bartender Wayne had become our friends! Our needs were well attended to, and they had great snorkeling on site. The pool was nice, but we spent time in ocean, not the pool.
Also, the food was well prepared, and there was a lot of selection. There was no "beach access", but shuttles to Seven Mile Beach ran two times a day.
We absolutely loved the quiet atmosphere at night. And we enjoyed looking up and seeing the stars, not all the lights of a city.

Spanish Bay Reef Resort was better than ever!Visited: December 2005

We just returned from ten nights at the Spanish Bay Reef Resort. We were not disappointed!
They have refurbished and refurnished the rooms to a higher standard than before. We last visited the resort for seven nights in November of 2002. Most of the staff was the same, and the service was just as good as before.
Our room had new floor tile, countertops and marble tiles in the bathroom. There was also new furniture, window coverings, and (my favorite) new air conditioner units. The old air conditioner in a smaller room in 2002 did not seem to keep up with the heat. The rooms were kept very clean and comfortable during our recent stay.
The facilities and grounds also look better than before. Everything was freshly painted, and the landscaping was monitored daily by the staff. We had perfect weather while we were here, so we enjoyed all of our meals outside on the patio.
The food was great, and we experienced sufficient variety for our taste. Lunches had a Jamaican flair to them, which we enjoyed -- jerk chicken and a few other spicy options that we experienced for the first time. The bar looked great, and the service was the best.
The island has done an excellent job of rebuilding and cleaning up. Georgetown looked as though nothing ever happened in terms of a recent hurricane. Our only complaint was that the traffic has become a significant detraction along the Seven Mile Beach Road. We only went to Georgetown a couple of times, so it didn't affect us too much.
Incidentally, we did some diving while we were here. The locals have done a fantastic job of cleaning up the debris underwater. We saw no evidence of Ivan other than a slightly smaller amount of sponges in the shallower waters. We didn't visit Sting Ray City this time, but from what we heard, the sting rays have sufficiently repopulated that attraction.
We dove with Wall To Wall Diving for seven consecutive days. Blair and Giles were great at handling beginners and experts alike. They run an eight-diver-or-less boat operation - which we prefer.
The turtle farm is going to be a major operation. We were told that a building under construction is going to be a restaurant and bar overlooking the turtle ponds. We were also told that they are finishing up a pond where visitors may snorkle in a pond with sting rays and sharks separated by plexiglass.
We intend to travel to the resort again next year at the same time.

This was the best stop we made on our cruise.Visited: June 2004

The seven members of our family booked this tour last week, and we all gave it the thumbs up, a 5 star no doubt. I hope you never try to crowd more people in one group, that would ruin the whole relaxing tour. It was perfect. I have friends going on a cruise in a few weeks, and I told them they had to try the tour. I wish I had gotten a t-shirt or something from your store. Time went so fast and we were having such a great time that we didn't get to brouse. You guys need to advertise more and better. The stuff they had on the Cruise Line is not near enough to catch anyones eye. Neither the video on the TV, or the tour sheet they give us. But on the other hand, you were all booked up, so that is what you are looking for. Keep up the good work, we will be visiting you again on the next cruise we book.

Great if you are "diving" to get away.Visited: December 2003

If you are "diving to get away" as my husbad and I were, Spanish Bay Reef is ideal with so many fabulous dive sites and snorkeling right off the resort. I think they have over 25 sites at the North Wall! The folks here are great, and we plan to come back as often as we can.
