I brought home the best memories ever. Visited: April 2002

The hotel atmosphere and ocean were out of this world, and the service was also excellent.

The only problem was that I didn't listen to the front desk staff when they told me "just because it is a little cloudy today doesn't mean you won't get a bad burn!" I ended up with the worst burn I will ever get and it lasted about two weeks. i didn't start peeling until about a month later.

However, when I think back to that vacation, that is not what sticks in my mind. I long to go back and think about all the fun I had despite having to go in the water a few days later with a long sleeve shirt and shorts and being in horrible pain. I loved it though! It didn't matter.

Cayman is a beautiful place! Visited: July 2001

Let's just start by saying, “Save your Marriott Rewards Points!” For anyone who travels and is able to accrue points on this system, the Marriott Grand Cayman was a very sweet reward. We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time.

Be advised: Cayman is expensive. The US dollar isn't worth as much, and prices in general are higher than the States. (An average dinner costs $75/couple with limited beverages.) However, it is very worth it. The island is very clean, people are friendly, and the Marriott is just the same way.

The rooms are typical hotel rooms, nothing fancy. But who stays in their room all the time on a vacation? The grounds were very nice and the beach was great! The beach is a little small, so if you are looking to be secluded in the middle of nowhere, this is not the place. But, if you just want a chair on the sand, with a waitress coming by to take your drink order, go ahead and sign up! Walks along the beach are great and the sunsets are beautiful. Bring snorkel gear because there is a great reef right off of the hotel beach that can entertain the average snorkeler for hours. We saw many fishes, lobster, barracuda and more!

If you are a diver, be sure to take a trip to the North Wall; it’s an awesome sight. Snorkeling with the stingrays is also very cool, but if you could dive it, you get to interact with them more.

Overall, we really enjoyed our extended weekend at Grand Cayman and especially at the Marriott. It made my list of "Islands to go back to." I just have too many others I want to visit first!

Nice hotel, narrow beach Visited: March 2000

We thought the hotel was in a convenient location to downtown and had good restaurants. The price per night was a little high. Beach was narrow and had no trees for shade due to a storm last year, but good snorkeling. Great beach for walking - 7 miles!

Wonderful Caribbean ambiance Visited: January 2000

We booked because of the Marriott name and were not disappointed. It was well appointed in every way and the staff was very accomodating. The concierge service helped set up off-sight tours and activities and the beach was terrific with water sports and good beginner snorkling right at our doorstep. Our room was a partial ocean view and was very large. The location was excellent. I recommend that you rent a car to tour the island. (Available across the street.)

Wonderful, a great vacation resort! Visited: January 2000

After a bad start to a cruise vacation delta airlines vindicated themselves by flying us to the Cayman Islands. There we were treated with a stay at the Marriott. The staff was wonderful, the rooms were emaculate and the food was great.

My husband and I would love to stay at this resort again, maybe real soon.

The beach was better Visited: September 1999

I just got back from the Marriott. I stayed here in September of 1999 and September of 2000. Last year the beach was about 6 feet wide and it was much bigger this trip.

Someone on staff called our room about 2 hours after we checked in to make sure we were comfortable. I was impressed.
The hotel was spotless and had outstanding service.

I will continue to stay here in the future.

It was the time of my life! Visited: August 1999

The island was magnificent. The hotel was beautiful with many activities to do. The food was great, with some of the most elegant dinners available in the world. The beach is small, due to the storm, but the gorgeous view of the ocean, and especially at sunset makes up for its beach. I definately recommend the Marriott to anyone that wants to come to the Cayman Islands!

Excellent beach resort without a beach. Visited: July 1999
Posted by chiefc
The hotel was beautiful and the service was great. The views were fantastic. Unfortunately, nobody bothered to tell us that they lost their beach in a storm a month or two before we got there. The hotel provided van service to another hotel to use their beach, which was admirable, but had I known I would have stayed at the other hotel.

Good location, good hotel. Visited: June 1999

Had a great time at the Marriott. Very kid friendly in June (loud pool area). The beach was small, but manageable (two tight rows of lounge chairs). Hit the breakfast/sports bar just North above Treasure Island. Great snorkelling, but you have to get away from the beach.

It was one of the best vacations my wife and I have ever had. We have been to numerous vacation dive destinations, and this was one of the best.

They had great staff and great food! We will definitely come back to this resort.
