divi Tiara offers great dive crews and sites, accommodations are okay, and the food is good. Visited: June 2005 |

Divi Tiara has the best dive crews we have seen, and we've done quite a bit of diving. From experienced, fit divers to beginners or the phycically disabled, they give outstanding support and service.
I watched the "Eels on Wheels" club (paraplegics) having great fun, with outstanding support. The dive sites are great (don't miss the Little Cayman trip), and the food is excellent. Accommodations are adequate, but divers don't go to Cayman Brac for the night life. |

This was our first stay here, and it will certainly be our last. We should have taken the bad reviews more seriously.
During our time at Divi, we did our own thing. We walked the property, that we agree needed some work. And nine months after a hurricane cannot be used as an excuse for general maintanence and upkeep.
The room we slept in, we would swear the housekeepers picked what days to clean (if you could call it that). There was also a lack of activities offered.
In addition, we encountered a rude barmaid. I had read bad reviews about her, but wanted to give her a chance. That was a bad mistake. All she seemed to care about was talking about island gossip and rumors with locals and friends, or fixing her makeup. In general, she just did not take care of guests' needs.
And the food was the biggest disappointment for us. We spent three weeks enjoying wonderful foods all over the Caribbean, and we expected nothing less from Divi Tiara. Too bad for us, because we found the food to be tasteless, with no appeal, and a lack of creativity and imagination. It was the same food each day, with no flavor, and it was just unappealing and unappetizing.
Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying that every breakfast lunch and dinner we ate here was horrible - just too many out of the overall to leave a bad taste in our mouth.
We were stunned to find out when we ventured over to the little Captain Table restaurant, the bartender there had mentioned that their chef had moved over to Divi recently. They spoke highly of him, and they raved about certain dishes, none of which we saw during our entire stay. When we returned to the front desk, we inquired as to whether or not this chef was working at the resort. We were told he was. That made us scratch or heads because of all of the problems we had been subjected to in regards to the meals.
We voiced our complaints and concerns to the young lady at the desk and were simply given an "Oh, I'm sorry." - nothing more, nothing less.
For a resort that seemed to try and compete with only one other, you would think that the management team would pay better attention to sites like this, and have some form of commentary to review by their guests.
It is my hope, that the management team of Divi Tiara will start paying attention to details, that they will take our concerns and do something about it, not simply make excuses to us as I have read in past posts.
It was great that they had nice diving and wonderful dive staff, but take the focus from them and put it where it is needed.

If you're looking for superb diving in a laid back atmosphere, Divi Tiara is the place to go.
The dive staff is excellent and provide total care for your gear. It is carried to the boat where it is set up daily, cleaned and returned to your room the last dive day.
Also, dinner is topnotch. And the staff is very friendly and eager to please. We'll go "back to the Brac"! |

We had a blast here. Visited: February 2005 |

We just returned from ten days at Divi Tiara on Cayman Brac. We had an absolute blast.
Cliff cooked up the best Frecnh Toast for breakfast, and the cookies at lunch were to die for. Mr O'Neal did dinners. and boy did they feed us well.
The staff at Divi Divers was not to be outdone..valet diving at it's best. These were boat captains that knew their business, and managed the seas just fine on those Newton dive boats.
The staff knew us by name on day two. They picked up on habits quickly..our group totally rearranged the patio at night for dinner our first two nights, so we could all eat together. By the third night the staff had the tables set up for us for dinner on the patio...no worries.
Weather was in our favor, and trips over to Little Cayman to dive Bloody Bay Wall were grand.
We are all talking about when we go back next year. You know they are doing something right when 25 divers and two non-divers from New Jersey are ready to go back! |

We are divers. We had spectacular diving by the best dive operations we have experienced. The boats were safe, well cared for and set up to accommodate divers. Also, the dive staff was knowledgable, cheerful, and polite.
This island might not be the place to bring non-divers who are into shopping as a hobby. The non-diver who wants to sun bathe, read, relax, snorkel, nap and visit will enjoy the peaceful beach.
On the day it was too rough to dive (the boat went out, but we chose not to), we snorkeled on a nearby public access that was protected by the reef.
Except for some afternoon hammering out our back door on a couple of days (they were disembling crates), we enjoyed a peaceful, courteous seven days with good food and great atmosphere provided in a 'layed brac' manner.
We have never had a more relaxing vacation. We will go back. |

Evidently, the construction we had read about was completed by the time we arrived. The pool was open, the rooms were clean, the service was great - as was the food (amd there was plenty of it!). Cliff is a great chef.
The dive staff was the best I`ve worked with. I never had to worry about anything. They changed our tanks, geared us up, and sent us on our way. Thanks, Cap`n Gary and Stephenie!
I will definitely be back!

Non-divers not wanted Visited: June 2001 |

We knew the Divi catered to divers... but didn't realize that meant non-divers were left in the cold.
We chose the Divi because a friend raved about it - and he still absolutely loves it. But we should have done our homework - we probably had unrealistic expectations.
The pool was closed for painting, and a jackhammer ran all day long doing patio maintenance.
The 2 rooms we stayed in were not clean, although one had a huge jacuzzi tub for two. The bedspreads were dingy and stale-smelling.
The beach is beautiful - palm trees and hammocks - and right outside the door. The bar is right on the beach under beautiful trees and very fun. And since everyone except us was diving all day, we had everything to ourselves.
But the ocean is very hard to swim in. In front of the hotel is a small area that the boats use. It's hard to get into the water unless you like wading through tall sea grass. (And with the pool closed, where were we supposed to swim?)
My husband hurt his ear while diving on the first day so he couldn't dive (or fly, to leave the island). We tried going out on the dive boats just to snorkel, but after one trip decided against it due to the snickers from the staff and other divers.
So - we loved the setting but the hotel fell far short of our expectations. |

Construction Visited: May 2001 |

We stayed at Divi to Scuba dive. The bar was friendly and fun. The pool area was under construction. We were not told of the construction prior to our arrival. The rooms are only partially air-conditioned (only the bedroom). We were invaded by ants in our first room. We asked to move. In the 2nd room, we experienced a rodent problem. The staff didn't seem to care. Food was poor in our opinion. However, Cayman Brac is a beautiful place. If I return, I will look for another place to stay. |

I stayed at the Divi Tiara Beach resort in February of 2001 and loved it. It was a total first class experience - valet diving at it's finest!
I never had to worry about a thing the whole weekend, as my gear was picked up from my room and that was the last time I ever had to touch it. The dive staff even rinsed it for me when I was done diving for the day.
The food was really good and Cliff was the highlight of my mornings. After my dives, I relaxed on the beach in one of the hammocks. Life was great and I hated leaving. |
