Unfortunately, FLORIS was less than we expected. Visited: January 2005 |

We arrived at the hotel when it was already dark, and so the first experience was our room.
We found it to be a really minimalistic IKEA version, just like the standard rooms in Greece or in Spain, and in hotels with two or three stars. Only the kitchen was an improvement comparing to Mediterranean style, but with this price...there certainly should have been more!
We also had problems with cleaning. But when our second week started, and after discussions with the hotel manager, all these "little things" were settled.
We thought the pool area was really okay, and the restaurant was okay for dining. Try the ice-cold rose and some tuna. |

FLORIS was a disappointment of great proportions! Visited: April 2004 |

My wife and I stayed at the Floris Suite Hotel in April, 2004. We were incredibly disappointed.
First, the concierge and other staff appeared unfamiliar with the lay of the land and were unable to provide us with a single recommendation of sights, shopping, food, and nightlife.
Second, the staff was unfriendly and seemed unwilling to make our stay enjoyable. Many times we sat poolside, yet not once were we offered food or drink. Instead, we were forced to walk 100 yards to the hotel restaurant to fulfill our needs.
Lastly, and most important, beware that the web site lacks any photos of the beach. The beach was nonexistent. But if you consider rocks, stones, crabs, and 10 lounges and a beachfront the size of a tennis court, you are in luck.
Please look elsewhere for fun in the sun and pampering! |

A wonderful experience to remember! Visited: August 2003 |

For our honeymoon, I decided to take my bride to Curacao and, thanks to the many reviews from wheretostay.com, decided stay at the FLORIS Suite Hotel. This was one of the best decisions I made for the entire trip!
Our first impression of the hotel was definitely awe. It was an entirely open-air property surrounded by luscious trees and plants that brought the outdoors indoors.
The staff was absolutely fabulous and incredibly helpful, always willing to help with advice on places to see and restaurants. Since I had told them it was our honeymoon, they decorated our entire suite with local flowers on the bed and in the bathroom. A complimentary bottle of champagne was also a wonderful gift!
One of the main reasons I chose the FLORIS Suite was because of the room designs. It wasn't a "normal" hotel, and the rooms were anything but typical. It was minimalist, warm, inviting, and functional style that was similar to IKEA, but a few rungs up the ladder. The suite-style gave us two separate rooms - the bedroom and the kitchen/living room - which felt less like a hotel and more like our room.
It was great having the kitchen with a dishwasher; we were able to have leftovers for lunch and make our own breakfasts each morning. A supermarket nearby was well stocked in foods familiar to Americans and had many other international flavors to try.
Everything about our trip was fabulous, and the FLORIS Suite helped make it even better! It was definitely a honeymoon to remember! |

I had previously stayed at the Sheraton during business trips to Curacao, but this nearby hotel provided far nicer accommodation at a more competitive price.
With the size of the hotel, it can never be too crowded. It wasn't on the beach, but it was not too far away (by foot).
Either for business or pleasure, I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. |

We just returned from a fabulous week at the Floris Suite Hotel. This was an incredible facility with an excellent restaurant, friendly staff and an exquisite pool. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and the suites were extremely well appointed. This resort was elegant.
I honestly did not care that this hotel did not have a beachfront. The beach at Hooks Hut was small, but very lovely and was only a five minute walk away. It was very similar to the beaches at the neighboring Sheraton and Marriott Hotels. Both hotels also had casinos, but nothing like Las Vegas or even Aruba.
The Floris also had live jazz in the restaurant and a great "2 for 1" Happy Hour. It was very refreshing after a hard day at the pool!
This hotel is a jewel and I highly recommend it. |

I don't know if I'll ever stay in such a beautiful hotel again. This was originally refurbished (with the highest quality materials), to be sold as condos, but when inflation hit, it was turned into a hotel. The pictures on their website do not do it justice. Instead of halls there are little brick paths downstairs and wooden bridges upstairs that wind through, what looks like, a tropical jungle.
Our friends were staying at a 5-star hotel with a beautiful beach. They visited our apartment and couldn't believe how beautiful it was. They were disappointed that they weren’t staying at Floris instead. The next time they will.
The only drawback to this property is that it is not beachfront. You have to walk down a little path and you come to Hook's Hut, (owned by Floris and the best place to eat on the whole island). This is a nice beach and at night they clear away the beach lounges and put tables up for the dinner crowd.
I'm a travel agent and I visited 6 properties on the island and none could hold a candle to the Floris. I'm planning on going back to Curacao and all I'm going to do is enjoy Floris, eat only at Floris and Hook's Hut, and snorkel at Port Marie (where there are tropical fish the size of dinner plates). |
