I recently stayed here for eight days.
The people were very friendly. There were no problems with rooms. It was very clean, and there were housekeeping services every day.
All the staff talked to the guests, and were very polite. The wait staff at the outside Tanga bar was so much fun to be around. They really made me feel welcome.
Also, I loved the beach at the hotel. It was very nice and had a beautiful view. The snorkeling was great, too! I've heard the reef life is better here than at other hotels.
There seemed to be a lot of US military on site during my stay. It was a nice crowd.
The swimming pool and courtyard were very nice. It was relaxing. The food was really good, too. It was close to downtown.
Some parts of the hotel might need updating, but they were working on that - all cosmetic stuff.
I had a lot of fun in the casino, and highly recommend learning Caribbean Stud Poker. It was a lot of fun, and was easy to learn.
Overall, I had a great experience! would stay here again for sure! |

This was a wonderful place to stay. The staff was excellent. The food and service (overall) were good. They seemed to be at a more relaxed pace than we are use to, but once you realize that, you will be okay.
I hope to come here again. |

Our second honeymoon here was the best!
Scuba diving was incredible, and the people were the friendliest. They also provided great food and had a great beach. I can't say enough! |

Hidden Costs Visited: April 2003 |

They don't advertise it much, but you will end up paying a lot more for your room upon leaving and paying your bill. For example, the cost of room service is not included in the rate, so they will charge you extra each day
that you are there, also for electricity used, and local taxes which are 20% of your bill.
The rooms are only adequate. The bed spreads look and feel like they are 10 years old, there were some stains on bathroom counters and my room had no remote to the T.V.
My "maid" made my bed while there was still sand from the beach on it. Didn't bother with clean sheets.
They charged me $17.50 a day for room service, which in my book was way too much.
check into "hidden charges" before making reservations. Or at least plan on a 30.00 extra per day. |

I stayed here for a long weekend with a group and the hotel did a marvelous job of putting up with us! The grounds are lovely with a great pool and a fantastic bar/beachfront area with great entertainment.
The beach itself isn't fabulous. (There’s an oil refinery round the corner, and bring reef shoes!) But the manmade seawall makes a nice lagoon, and the island is littered with other fantastic beaches. The staff is accommodating and the food is good, although Denny's is a little too convenient; it’s also overpriced and not great quality, so you're better off in the hotel.
The on-site dive shop is high quality with really nice staff that knows their stuff and do great snorkeling trips ($15) as well as the usual dive stuff. They have the PADI open water certification for an amazing US$175.
The hotel is within 20 minutes walking distance of the capital Willemstad, with buildings exactly like a very colorful Amsterdam, and lots of overpriced restaurants. Check the menu before you go in! There are cheap local eats available if you look.
The casino is no Las Vegas, more like Skegness in February, but if gambling's your thing then it's very handy, located right in the lobby.
The only real disappointment in this hotel is the rooms. They don't match the standard of the rest of the hotel. While they are as clean as they're ever going to be, they're a bit 1980's, with old stained carpets and ceilings. Some rooms have been redone. Just make sure you're not getting a lovely view of the oil refinery and you'll be okay. (A pool view is your best bet.)
