Sea Cliff Cottages - Dominica

Sea Cliff is a perfect spot for those of you who desire to be a little more independent and private on your holidays. Situated on the dramatic northeast coast, these four cottages are found overlooking the sea at the end of a country lane. Shaded by palms and surrounded by tropical plants and fruit trees, each cottage is designed in an open concept and totally equipped for long term stays. All have cathedral ceilings, full kitchens, dining areas, bathrooms with hot showers, and tiled floors leading out to a balcony facing the sea. All your bedding and towels, dishes, etc. are provided for and you have the use of washing machines as well. The cottages are of different sizes and can sleep from 2 persons in the studio to 6 persons in the two bedroom. There is cable TV and CDplayer in all but the Studio cottage all have cell phones and high speed wifi for those with their laptops
Quiet and peaceful, the ocean breeze and the sound of the surf below will help soothe away any stress that you may be burdended with. Relax on your balcony or explore the natural beauty around us. The beach below is good for swimming and has the added bonus of a fresh water river running in to the sea below the cottages. The village of Calibishie is an easy walk and you are also close to two other swimming beaches, hidden river bathing pools, hiking trails and tumbling waterfalls. Bird watching and other tours can easily be arranged if you wish.

Come drink the fresh mountain water, taste the wonderful fruit, and take home food from the sea for your dinner. The clean air can be relief for those who suffer from respiratory problems and if you are interested in medicinal herbs, you can talk with some of our elder folk who are happy to share their experiences.

Sea Cliff cottages will provide you with all your needs for short or long term stays and you can relax in comfort surrounded by flowers with the sounds of the sea in the background.

The smallest cottage (about 500 square feet) is set up for one or two people. Cozy and intimate, it has a complete kitchen, dining alcove and three piece bathroom with hot shower. The bed sitting room has a double bed and plenty of closet and drawer space. A large balcony looks out over the sea below. Tile floors and natural hardwood furnishings are featured throughout. As with the other units a variety of fruit trees are planted around the cottage for you to sample when in season.

Newly completed, the one bedroom cottage as in the other houses has cathedral ceilings and tile throughout. The bedroom has a queen size bed and an ensuite 3 piece bathroom. A complete kitchen setup, dining area and sitting room provide you with ample space to relax in. There is cable TV, CD/stereo cassette and telephone featured as well. The back of the cottage looks out over the pineapple garden and fruit trees and is shaded by a huge old mango tree. The balcony in the front looks out to the sea and islands below. The fold down futon couch in the living area can be used as a double bed if extra sleeping space is required.

The 2 bedroom cottage is an ideal spot for families or a larger group. Lots of yard space for children to run and play as well as gardens and shade trees for more peaceful strolling. Tiled floors and cathedral ceilings lend a cool spacious feeling to the house and a full length balcony faces the sea.

The main bedroom has a queen-size twin beds in the second room. A futon couch in the living room folds down into a double bed if extra space is required. As in the other cottages the kitchen is fully equipped, including a blender and juicer for those who enjoy the odd rum punch. The three piece bathroom has a hot shower. There is an additional shower outside for rinsing off and a BBQ if you wish to use it. Cable TV and a cassette stereo are provided for your enjoyment and a washing machine is available.

The "one bedroom home " shares the same lovely view as the Studio cottage. Again the kitchen is fully equipped with full sized fridge with ice maker, cherry and maple counters,and dining area for four people. Bright and airy there is cable TV, CD player, a double fold down futon in the living room for extra sleeping space if required.
Large sliding glass doors lead out onto the large balcony with a view of the sea and island below.
The bedroom has a queen sized bed,small desk area and lots of closet space. There is also a washing machine for your use.

The small apartment below the house can be rented at the same time for an extra couple of family members. It will not be rented out separately so as to provide you with privacy.
The apartment has its own entrance, large patio, small kitchenette, double bed and bathroom.
The home and apartment together are perfect for those who wish to holiday together but have their own space as well.

Sea Cliff Cottages are only a 15 minute drive from Dominica's main airport, Melville Hall. An afternoons drive can take you through the Carib Territory and on up into the natural beauty of Dominica's rainforest. Closer to home there are numerous hiking paths to explore or you can refresh yourself in the natural bathing pools found in nearby rivers. A secluded waterfall just a short distance away provides a delightful setting for a picnic and swim.

Just below the cottages is Hodges Bay. Protected by a series of small islands, it is one of the better beaches in the area. In addition, the Hodges River empties into the sea at this point and is a favorite spot for children to play, and for rinsing off the salt after an ocean swim. Woodford Hill beach, Turtle beach and the beautiful Pointe Baptiste beach are also within walking distance.

For those who wish to dive, there is a five star PADI dive centre located twelve miles away, in the village of Portsmouth, which offers certification courses as well as day and night diving. The cottages are a twenty minute walk from the picturesque fishing village of Calibishie. Here you can while away the time chatting with the local people about the customs and culture of Dominica or treat yourself to a meal in one of the restaurants. If the timing is right you can take home some fresh lobster, snapper, or mahi mahi when the fishermen return to the "bayside" in the late afternoon.
