We stayed at Snowbirds Bed and Breakfast for two weeks, and the only disappointment was how fast the time went by!
Marjorie and John were wonderful hosts. Every morning we awoke to fresh fruit salad (most of the fruit was right from the garden!) accompanied by just out of the oven chocolate croissants (yummy), coffee, and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice...need we say more!
Their bed and breakfast was a walk up the hill from the beach at Portsmouth which was nice as there was always a cooling breeze. The accommodations were great - we definitely felt at home at Snowbirds. The patio provided reprieve from the sun - great for catching up on reading, or for taking on John for a game of crib. We did both! Although I have to admit - we never walked up the hill. Marjorie helped us rent a car so that we could cruise all over the island.
We really enjoyed staying at Portsmouth vs. Roseau. We often drove to the Atlantic side of the island (less than half an hour away) to enjoy the blue waters, volcanic sand, and crashing surf.
We had such a relaxing and fun vacation thanks to the hospitality and warmth of Marjorie and John at Snowbirds. We'll definitely go back. |

Just a few key words: friendly, open, and very hospitable. The food was great, and the location was perfect to see the whole island.
This vacation made me want to move to this island and never leave, so I guess you could say I felt so comfortable and welcomed by John and Marjorie, I did not want to go. The Snowbirds Bed and Breakfast was the ideal choice for me.
Every island vista was a picture perfect postcard. The Caribbean Sea was just a few minutes' walk through tropical lush rainforest with unspoiled beaches, water falls, rainforest hiking, tropical birds and fresh water within a short drive of Portsmouth.
See the real Dominica in its splendor by choosing Portsmouth as your homebase. And when in Portsmouth, there is only one place to stay, and that is Snowbirds Bed and Breakfast with John and Marjorie, the most gracious hosts in the West Indies. |

John and Marjorie were outstanding hosts. We arrived to the island in the late evening hours and Marjorie had a wonderful supper prepared for us complete with homemade ice cream.
After a long day of travelling, we were happy to find ourselves in the company of friends. They were warm, considerate and hospitable. The hosts of Snowbirds Bed & Breakfast will make your stay in Dominica extra special.
They provided large, comfortable rooms, with lush surroundings, and a lovable companion named "Buddy". I can't say enough about the quality of our stay that was made better just by choosing Snowbirds Bed & Breakfast for our accommodations in Dominica.
Portsmouth was well located to see everything on the island. You do have to rent a vehicle to get around - just ask Marjorie about "what is what" on Dominica. She will steer you right. Snowbirds is the oasis of comfort in a Caribbean paradise. Enjoy! |

Friendly, value for money, great cooking! Visited: February 2001 |

We had a lovely stay with Marge and John during our first visit to Dominica and we found Snowbirds to be an excellent place to use as a base for diving and exploring the island.
Although guests have their own private accommodations, Marge and John operate a bit of an "open house" so you could find yourself sharing a meal with them or watching a grand-prix on the TV! The welcome is very warm and we fell in love with the home cooking from day one.
Snowbirds is a few miles outside Portsmouth, so if you are not up to a bit of walking we recommend that you hire a car or use one of the local taxi guys that Marge knows; we did a mixture of all three.
If you are looking for a quiet, friendly value-for-money place with great food, then you should consider a visit to Snowbirds.
