Description:
Downtown Roseau, capitol city of Dominica and a bustling Caribbean business and financial center is home to a very nice, modern Garraway Hotel. For those travelers wanting the "Hilton" or "Holiday Inn" type accommodations wherever they are, this is the place. It is a favorite with business travelers; just a short walk to government and downtown business offices. Spacious rooms, an excellent restaurant, duty-free shopping across the street and a birdseye view of the new pier, make the Garraway a sure winner with seasoned travelers.
Only 10 minutes from Canefield Airport, (the one used by small planes from Guadeloupe and Martinique), and an hour and 15 minutes from Melville Airport, the Garraway is located on the city's bayfront, adjacent to the new cruiseship berth, historic Peebles Park, city museum and the new bayfront promenade.
A blend of traditional atmosphere and modern convenience, the five-story hotel offers 30 deluxe rooms and suites featuring one or two beds, air-conditioning, phones, cable TV, ADSL internet access, ceiling fans, tile bath, carpeted or tiled bedrooms, and the suites have a separate sitting room with couch and chairs. Most rooms overlook the Caribbean Sea, and are light and furnished with a tropical flair. The deluxe rooms are very spacious with a nice marble and tile bath adjacent.
Guests and local Dominicans appreciate the wonderful local and international cuisine served at the restaurant, adjoining terrace, and "Ole Jetty" bar located on the main street level. The sunset-watching crowd heads for the rooftop terrace to enjoy a favorite tropical libation while the sun sinks into the western sky. Ideal for dining and dancing, the terrace is a must do when you're in Roseau.
On Saturday mornings, an area 10 blocks square directly north of the hotel, within easy walking distance, comes alive with vendors selling their local produce, flowers, meat, and handcrafted items. Another must do when you're in Roseau, visit the market and get in on all the great bargains.
Conference facilities located on the basement level seat 175 and are suitably equipped for hosting mini conferences, weddings, receptions and other functions. To complete your day, visit the fitness center adjacent to the hotel or go jogging or walking along the seaside promenade.
Activities galore await the adventurous traveler to Dominica. The hotel can arrange scuba diving, hiking, biking, kayaking, touring the island, snorkeling, or shopping.
