I felt revived here, and enjoyed the nice cottage in front of the beach. The snorkeling was good. The rooms were clean and well kept. The staff was extremely helpful. Also, the location itself was beautiful. The coffee and coffee pot were a nice touch. In addition, we were grateful for the air conditioning on hot nights. |

Calibishie Cove was absolutely amazing. I stayed here for my honeymoon, and I have no regrets. The cool Caribbean breeze, the scenic views, the great accommodation and amenities all made the place so serene. This was a great place to stay. |

I totally disagree with the person who said this place isn't worth the money. It's fantastic. It is charming, beautiful, and friendly. I would stay here for a month! It is highly recommended. |

We traveled from Guadeloupe to Dominica for three days for my husband's birthday, and stayed at Crescent Moon Cabins. It was nicely secluded and pleasant for nature lovers like our ten-year son is. The accommodation was rustic, but comfortable enough. Although, I expected the cabins to be of higher standard. Ron, the Chef sprinkled originality all over the food he cooked, and service was fast. It was an excellent opportunity to try different flavors and tastes. It would be suitable even for the non culinary adventurous! Tiana was helpful, and responded promptly to our requests. It is better to be a dog-lover, though (I am not), as they wander about even when you eat. We were disappointed at the state of the "pool" and hot tub, when we eventually figured out that's what they were. Indeed, it did not look like they were cleaned regularly, nor the water changed as often it should. We did meet a fantastic German couple on holiday, too, and they contributed a lot to making our stay in Dominica enjoyable. Would I consider going back to Crescent Moon Cabins? Frankly, I doubt it. This once was enough! |

I stayed at Silks last night and loved it. They picked me up at the airport, and it was only a ten-minute ride. That was good, since my trip was long. Dinner and the people were perfect. You should go! |

My wife and I stayed at Sea Cliff Cottages in January 2007, and it was a fantastic place to stay on the north end of the island. The nice clean cottage we stayed in had plenty of room, and the full kitchen was great. The beautiful ocean view was just like in the web page photos. My wife and I love adventure traveling to less developed, not so touristy areas, and the beautiful primal rain forest covered mountains, great snorkeling areas, and friendly natives really fit the bill for us. In addition, Gwen and Jim at Sea Cliff were great hosts, and were very helpful in pointing out places to go and see. We highly recommend a trip to Dominica and Sea Cliff Cottages as the place to stay - especially when exploring the north half of the island. |

This is a charming hotel in a quiet rural setting. It is just two miles from Roseau on the way to the main natural attractions. It is also run by very pleasant people who are anxious to please. Meals here are generous and fairly priced. Dinners are based on what's fresh that day, not off a fixed menu. Some rooms come with balconies, but there is also a very large and comfortable common veranda. |

If you go to Dominica, try to stay at the Roseau Valley Inn, nestled in a wooded valley about ten minutes above the captial. The area is not exactly spoilt for choice when it comes to accommodation, and this is a jewel. So, too, are owner/manager Patsy and her husband Hugh - who can't do enough for you. Patsy is very knowledgable about her 'nature island' and fixed up some tours for us which were exactly what we wanted. You can swim in the Roseau River at the bottom of the garden, which has both cool deep pools and mini rocky rapids for your own natural jacuzzi. Patsy cooks what she calls 'plain, unadulterated West Indian food', but it's healthy and delicious, and better than the meal we had in one of the top restaurants in the capital. |

We didn't get the chance to make inquires. We were barely out of our car when, with no warning, their dog attacked our beloved family dog. After many desperate attempts to dislodge the viscious animal, my husband finally succeeded in lifting the dog away using a chokehold. While I put our bleeding, limping pet back into our car, the proprietress, an American, proclaimed that "it was not her dog" . Then, the attacking dog came running back towards our open car. When my husband blocked its progress with a kick, the owner then contradicted herself yelling, "don't kick my dog." So that we could quickly tend to our pet's wounds, we began to reverse from their driveway. The owners watched us, with not a word of concern. But rather, the proprietress nudged her husband, grinning, whispering and smirking! This was such an insult added to injury that we called out of our windows that we did not think it was funny. At this point the woman screamed and pointed us to "Get the **** off my property!" I could not believe my ears, but she was so loud there was no mistaking her. Therefore I recommend, do not attempt to inquire without phoning first! As to the outside appearance, there was a wind, but otherwise the place was totally isolated, devoid of character, and one would hope they have cable TV. |

If you seek a genuine experience of the island – this is the place to stay. Patsy and Hugh, the lovely couple who own the hotel, can answer all your questions about how it is to live on this island. I appreciated very much the interesting evening talks sitting on the porch with them. The food was excellent; it was home-cooked and very tasty. A couple of minutes up the valley road, you find Screw’s spa where you can take hot baths in the rain forest. It was very relaxing and soothing for the soul. Be sure not to miss that. The rooms had a nice view of the valley. The hot water in the hotel was produced by solar energy, good for the environment. The hotel was situated close to the trails up to Boiling Lake and Titou Gorge. I will definitely be back here someday! |

Travel in Dominica requires a car and the ability to drive on the left on primarily single lane roads. If you can do that and have a true sense of adventure, you are ready to travel independently in a unique environment. The Dominica's SeaView Apartments, a part of Calabishie Lodges in Calabishie, offer a kitchen, sitting room with TV, and bed and bath. There is also a private rear balcony and shared ocean view balcony overlooking miles of the Atlantic, Guadaloupe and its islands. A ten-minute walk to the Lodges gets you to a reasonably priced breakfast and dinner. Free wake-up (4:00a.m.) is provided by the neighborhood rooster. The apartments are an excellent base for exploring NE Dominica. The nearby Woodford Hill beach is one of the nicest on the island. There are hikes to hot and cold sulfur springs and to the hills of Cabrits. |

If you can do that and have a true sense of adventure, there is no better place to stay in Dominica than Crescent Moon Cabins. Four cabins, open to the tropical breezes of the West Indies and facing truly beautiful sunsets, give you a chance to be as close to nature as you could want. We had the fun of seeing a perfect crescent moon. A pleasant surprise to us was the discovery that our host Ron is an accomplished chef who prepares the best breakfasts and dinners you could imagine. Home grown fruits and vegitables, goats milk soap from the resident goats, and home roasted coffee beans have a counterpoint in the internet connection that allows you to keep in touch with the real world. Our six days at CMC were one of our best vacations ever. |

The Crescent Moon Cabins had stunning views--past palm, papaya, and African tulip trees, plus plenteous other flora—due west (sunset shows at 6 pm nightly from the hammock on your porch) out to sea, from the mountains above the capital, Roseau. Crescent Moon owners, Ron and Jean, moved to Dominica nine years ago with a contract for her to start a Montessori program that didn’t pan out. But Dominica got under their skin. They acquired a dilapidated former motel of sorts—four cabins and a little stone house. It was isolated, miles down a barely passable, rutted and rocky road. They rebuilt it from the ground up. The cabins do now each have hot water showers. One eats extremely well and variously at Crescent Moon (which is difficult to do otherwise in Dominica), with much of the menu arriving immediately out of the surrounding 12 acres. Breakfast comes with homemade passion fruit or tamarind juice. Ron took a special interest in my interest in herbal teas, providing me with a different one plucked fresh every morning and evening, including an intoxicating brew of patchouli (I kid you not). After dinner, hosts, guests and dogs tend to hang out for a while in a common room/library (full of books on Dominica)/computer room, together with Ron and Jean’s gardener-daughter Tiana, her baby Leo, and the occasional neighbor. Ron and family are outstanding sources of all kinds of information about the island--including opportunities for hiking, snorkeling, etc. But really the nicest times were spent soaking in the hot tub that Ron concocted for Jean, soaking up the view and the vibe from their small Eden. |

I couldn’t wait to tell all my friends about Jungle Bay when I got home. The conversation all started with “You just have to go to Jungle Bay”. It was satisfying to be a guest at an eco-friendly resort; the environmentally appropriate design and focus of the property was a big plus. More importantly, for the prospective visitor, the resort does not sacrifice luxury and quality in the quest for harmony with the environment. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery, delicious meals, outstanding service, tours of the island, and the most considerate staff you could possibly imagine. Jungle Bay is a great value for your money and a wonderful Caribbean vacation experience. |

I returned to Castaways after a few years absence. Dominica is a place where you can get back in touch, slow down, and relax. Castaways Hotel and the staff there make you feel at home whether it is your first visit or your fifth. The location is great for diving either to the north or south. Inland trips can be organized at the front desk with a guide or self drive. In addition, the food is a good mix of Caribbean and English. Here you will also have a great view. The rooms are cool and clean, and the balcony is a must. I am already planning my next trip back to Dominica and Castaways Beach Hotel. |
