They are great with kids here. My three-, six-, and nine-year-olds want to go back. Also, the food is great, and the atmosphere is relaxing. We will be back 2007. |

We stayed at the Melia Caribe Tropical about 35 minutes away from the internatinol airport in Punta Cana.
The food was wonderful and uniqe. The water was crystal clear and full of colorful fish.
They have a lot of activeties all around the island for example there is horseback riding across the island.
We also traveled US airways, they have an exsculive package which is about $1,000 per person with your flight, food, and hotel included. |

Not only was this our fourth trip to Club Med Punta Cana, but it was the best one yet! My daughter was thrilled with the fun activities provided at the Mini Club. And her absolute favorite thing, that she raved about even after being home for two weeks, was the trapeze!
The food was great, and my family and I loved the variety. Although the rooms weren't the best we've stayed in at a Club Med, it didn't matter even the least bit because we were honestly only in our dorm while sleeping!
The evening activities were wonderfully entertaining and the G.O.s were so friendly and helpful. The beaches and watersports were great and so were the landsports. The pool was huge and the crystal clear ocean matched it!
We had the most wonderful time at Club Med Punta Cana and we will come back every year! |

We just returned from a week at Club Med Punta Cana, and were very pleased.
Our two and a half- and five-year-olds loved the petit and mini-clubs, and I was very impressed at the facilities for the little ones. They had 3 pools in the mini-club of three different depths for the youngest kids. For the two and three year olds, they even had a water play feature that didn't require them to go into a very shallow pool in order to get wet.
The playground rated highly with my five-year-old, and both kids got time on the beach playing in the sand. Overall, we were very pleased with the childrens' programs and would highly recommend them.
The only downsides for us: the room we were in (and I understand most rooms were this way) was pretty small (though very clean), and not furnished up to the level of top notch hotels. It didn't matter that much to us as we didn't spend that much time in our room, but still we would have been willing to pay a little more to have a nicer/larger room.
Secondly, the kids slept in an alcove off our room (which was separated from the main room by sliding doors); however, the tv was in the kids area, so once they went to sleep, we couldn't watch tv and had to keep pretty quiet.
Third, the food was plentiful, but only okay. There was a great deal of variety but none of it was great -- but then it wasn't bad either. They did have chicken nuggets, fries, hamburgers and hot dogs at lunch and dinner, so the kids were happy. Also, since the food was served buffet style, one of us was always up getting food for ourselves or the kids.
Still, this was a great vacation for a family and we were happy to have gone. My husband and I got to spend time together without the kids, and got to do lots of fun activities (snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, etc.) at no extra charge which was great.
The main pool was huge and went from practically ankle deep at one end for the little ones to a large medium-deep area in the middle that was used for water polo and pool exercises, to a deep end for swimming and diving. All in one pool. It was very nice.
Other miscellaneous thoughts: Note that I wouldn't go on vacation here without my kids -- it seemed that almost everyone we met had kids with them! The club attracted lots of French (I was surprised as it would be a nine-hour flight for them) and lots of Canadians (both French and English speaking).
So, most activities, including the kids clubs, were done in French and English. It seemed that only the kitchen, cleaning and maintenance staff spoke Spanish. It was helpful to understand a bit of French but not mandatory. We had no problems drinking the water at all, and agree that the non-alcohol bar bracelet was the way to go. |

This was our first real vacation anywhere with our three children, ages 6, 7 and 11 so we wanted to do the 'all-inclusive' resort vacation with kids activities included. This was the primary reason we chose Club Med at Punta Cana apart from the obvious attractiveness of the Caribbean location.
One word - wow! The week was full of great things to participate in for all of us - including snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, rollerblading, circus gymanastics, beach and pool games, fitness club and many others.
The resort was in very good shape with well kept grounds that were constantly being groomed and cleaned. The staff was friendly, informative, multi-lingual and readily available.
The facilities were mostly new or newly renovated with an expansive site spread out over a long beachfront with swaying palms with both sheltered and sunny spots sprinkled all over the site. If you wanted sun, no problem. If you wanted shade and cool - it was there too. Beach chairs were plentiful at the pool and at the beach so there was no problem finding a place to hole up.
Our rooms were clean although the kids room was a little musty smelling. The cleaning staff was great and had our rooms prepared every day on time and cleaned thoroughly.
In no time at all, we settled into the routine, had our kids clocked into the mini-club and set out to enjoy the Caribbean sunshine! Our 6 and 7 year olds took full advantage of the mini-club while our 11 year old quickly made friends and fledged out on his own for the most part and did his own thing with his junior-club buddies.
We opted for the soda packages (my wife and I aren't big alcohol drinkers) for all of us and this was a stroke of genius. Anything we wanted in the way of juice, pop, water, energy drinks, snacks and virgin cocktails was readily available from two bars on site as well as in the two restaurants at meal times.
Local beer (Presidente) and imported wines were included and plentiful during lunch and dinner. The food was great and plentiful with a wonderful mix of local dishes and traditional fare. Kids could get fries, burgers, nuggets and the like or try something more interesting.
Everything was buffet style, well prepared and we had no doubts at all about the food being safe. We all pigged out and ate whatever we wanted. We put down the mild stomach distress my wife and 11 year old son had to eating too much coconut (mother nature's laxative!) but it quickly passed.
We planned to drink only bottled water but we found out the young kids had been using water fountains around the resort with absolutly no ill effects at all.
All in all, it was a great place, we had a great time and we can't wait to go back!! |

This was our first holiday at an all-inclusive resort. We took our three children - ages 5, 8 and 11.
Everyone in our family had a wonderful time. Our two youngest spent most of their time in the kids clubs with their groups. They loved the G.O.s who were in charge of their groups.
Our eldest had the luxury of participating in certain events and going off with friends at other times. We found that we were waiting for him in the evenings to come home. He met girls and boys from all over the U.S. and from Europe. We felt it was a very safe atmosphere for him to have some freedom to come and go.
We found that the activities offered were plenty and very enjoyable. My children especially enjoyed the trapeze and the circus GOs were very wonderful and warm individuals.
Over the course of 14 days, our children only ate with us 4-5 times, allowing my husband and me to finally have a holiday "away" from the kids.
This will not be our last Club Med holiday and hope to be back at Punta Cana again. |

This was the best vacation our family has every taken - even our teenager had a blast. The resort had a teen club and they made friends the next day.
We really enjoyed everything from the food and the evening entertainment to the beautiful pool and the beach. Also, the staff was incredible.
It was a vacation we will never forget and we look forward to returning again. It was excellent. |

My mother took all 12 of her extended family to Club Med Punta Cana for a week, and we all loved it.
The staff was nice and energetic, the food was good and vast, the accommodations were pleasant (except for those in outlying areas where the walk back and forth got tiring), and the activities varied and interesting. My four-year-old liked the Mini Club activities, giving my wife and me about five hours a day to ourselves.
All three of us got various intensities of food poisoning during or after the trip, but it wasn't show-stopping. We highly recommend Club Med Punta Cana.

We came here with our entire family. The rooms were beautiful, and the food was magnificent (unlike the other resort we stayed at for a day and ended up with food poisoning).
The shows at night were fun to watch, and if you don't enjoy the salt water ocean (awesome view), there was a pool near by to swim in. There was an archery place, and a place for acrobatics and rollerblading! It was all so accessible, and the view was breathtaking.
Many of the staff were fluent in French and English, and some Spanish. There were many excursions to do (swim with the dolphins or scuba diving). I highly recommend this resort! |

"Best place in the world," said our kid. Visited: January 2002 |
| Posted by lcunning |

My husband and I and our 11-year-old just spent a week at this location. (It was our first Club Med experience.) Our kid early on pronounced it, "the best place in the world." We had to bribe him the first day to attend the Kids' Club, but after that we had to drag him away from his new pals at 10pm or later at night. He loved most of the activities (of which there were many), and my fear that there wouldn't be many kids because it was a regular school time proved unfounded. The kids' GOs, with one minor exception, were lovely and our guy adored being part of several shows. There are now TVs in the rooms, with a selection of satellite stations, although ours was hardly ever on.
As others have noted, our room was divided into two spaces, which was handy; we were fortunate that we weren't too far from the main areas, although other rooms were a considerable walk to action central. It should be noted that finding a quiet place to read or dream was difficult, since amplified sound was the norm: announcements, pool contests, music were regularly blasting from the omni-present speakers.
The strong point about the food at the two restaurants was a lot of fresh fruit, excellent salads and terrific bread. I hardly ate anything hot the whole time, and was delighted with what I did have. If you time things right, you can snaffle a table for two at the Hispanola restaurant.
While we were there, much of the clientele was from France, so rudimentary French and an understanding of the French topless bathing culture are assets.
Would we return? Our guy is already planning to make money dog walking to ensure that we can. |

The property was beautiful. We loved the pool and the fact that you could sit at the pool and look at the beach and ocean.
The kids’ programs were fantastic. Our kids (5 and 7) met new friends, loved the counselors and did great activities, including participating in a variety of shows at night. The room was nice because it had a separate room for the kids. The staff was extremely friendly, especially the recreation and dining room staff. Staff addressed the kids by name, which is always very special to them.
My husband and I played tennis, went sailing, and enjoyed some quiet pool and beach time without the kids. The nice part is that you can participate if you want, or just watch the activities—no one pressures you to get involved if it's not your thing.
The food was good (not great) served buffet style, and there were always plenty of choices, even for the kids. This was our second vacation to a Club Med resort, and we will definitely return, probably to Punta Cana.

This was paradise on earth.
It was the first time we tried Club Med’s family atmosphere. We loved it. My children, ages 6 and 9, loved the programs here and want to go back again, which we plan to do again next year.
I would strongly recommend for families with children ages 3-12. It was a blast! |

It is a pretty place, but pace the kids. Visited: March 2001 |

My husband and I vacationed here with our daughters, ages five and one.
I had been to other Club Med resorts and loved the food, but Punta Cana's selection dissapointed me.
My oldest daughter did not like dining because we ate with strangers and kids' table manners can be unpredictable. There were no real kid-friendly meals like plain old macaroni and cheese or good burgers. The adult food was just okay - not French resort quality.
The resort was very pretty and had excellent security. My husband enjoyed the tennis lessons and I enjoyed the large shallow end of the pool with the baby. The village was very international and at the main pool and on the beach, there were many topless moms and naked children.
The mini-club was well-designed with its own playground and pool. The G.O.s were very enthusiastic and friendly. However, they moved the kids around too much in the hot sun. They got a half-hour of tennis, half-hour of circus school, half-hour of pool time, etc. My daughter would not have dropped out so quickly if they had a more relaxed schedule. Also, not being European, she did not like changing clothes in the same room with boys and male G.O.s.
Another damper on the vacation was that our kids (and just about all the other American kids) got so sick that we had to visit the doctor on-call for $200 and get antibiotics. I think it was the water, although Club Med management insisted their water and ice were safe to drink.
I liked the Club Med spirit and the value. We may try another family village once the kids are older. Although, the way Club Med keeps closing its properties, we may not have the opportunity. |

Good place, but has its problems. Visited: March 2001 |

I went with a friend and his family and had a great time. The facilities were great and when we knew about the activities, they were fun.
There were problems, however. First, the rooms were located fairly far from the central area of the pool. This meant that if you forgot your towel or 'card', it was an enormous hassle to return.
The food was so-so, and no food was provided in between designated mealtimes. This meant that if you missed breakfast or lunch, you were forced to starve until the next meal, or pay ludicrous prices for 'snacks'. The GO's seemed only as if they were on vacation.
The facilities were top-notch, however.

Nice, but not for kids. Visited: February 2001 |

Last week, my husband and I went on vacation, and for the first time decided to take along our four children—ages 7, 10, 14 and 15. My husband and I had a lovely time, but there was not much for the kids to do, as they seemed to get bored quickly. There were no T.V.'s in the rooms, and my kids were semi-anxious to return home. May I suggest that if you are planning on traveling with children that this may not be the resort for you.
The food was good, as it did provide a wide variety from which to choose. The scenery was gorgeous, and the town was cute, but then again very boring for the kids. The rooms were very clean and offered a good night’s rest, since they were situated off of the beach and surrounded by palm trees. This set up gives one a good, safe feeling.
We are planning on going back to the Caribbean again, but may look into going to a new resort.

The beach was lovely and shade was plentiful if you wanted it. The new Hispaniola restaurant with its beautiful views of the sea was remarkable, if quite large. Depending on the time of year it could be crowded with kids, as it was in the middle of January!
We stayed in one of the many new rooms -- it was pleasant, roomy, clean, with a nice terrace. The food was fine, especially the Dominican draft beer, Presidente; the cheeses, fresh fish, fruits all were top notch.
The worst part of the trip was the charter to and from New York. On the way home, the plane didn't leave Punta Cana airport until 2:30 AM, but we were required to leave our room by 2:30 PM the previous afternoon. This was no way to treat paying guests. Although we had a wonderful trip and a relaxing time playing tennis and swimming, we urge you to tell Club Med in advance that you will not leave your room until it's time to go to the airport. Since the flight was a Club Med charter, there's no reason they can't handle this better.
All in all, it was a fine place, if too large to qualify as a "village", more like a Club Med town. The recent expansion seemed to have left the GO's burned out and grumpy. |
