I would not recommend a holiday here for safety reasons. Visited: May 2006 Posted by bernard During our stay here, we personally had money taken from our safe deposit box. The box was opened with a key! We received no help from the hotel staff or the holiday representative. Although it was all-inclusive, and we got by that way, we were virtually kept prisoner at the hotel as we had no funds or help. Please be aware of this before going to this resort. I would not like someone else to have to suffer this way. I will never return to this resort and will never, never recommend it to anyone else. We were not even offered a phone call home to have funds transferred to us! We are not a young couple, and just wanted a quiet, two-week break, taking in the occasional trip if we liked the look of it. We took extra cash for any gifts, trips etc. We could not get anything! We were stuck in the hotel for two weeks. It sounds good, but it was quite distressing being stuck in a foreign country with no money and no help. Visited: April 2005 Posted by jorgevalle This was the first time we visited this resort in the Dominican Republic. We loved it, and we want to go back every year - twice a year! The shopping mall (plaza) was just a few steps away, and it was very convenient. The prices were a bit high, but we managed to go to the city's downtown market (el mercado) where we bargained and got all our souvenirs for less than half the price. What a bargain! The entertainment was awesome and very intereactive with the guests. The food was great, and we never got sick at all. We drank like fish and want to do it again. The Rum Factory was very close by, and the entrance was free. We bought lots of rum for gifts. The beach was just a two-minute walk, and it was just spectacular! We can't wait to do it again. I have the hotel's website bookmarked, and we'll keep checking for our next vacation deal. The beach was a short distance away, and there were plenty of palm trees to shade us from the hot sun. The best of all was the entertainment. The fun team did a really good job of getting people involved in their activities without being pushy. The evening shows were nothing short of spectacular. Scooby Doo was the best! Visited: July 2003 Posted by sweetie7136 I've just come back from a two-week holiday that was the best holiday ever. The hotel was clean, the food was good and the staff was really friendly. Also, the beach was really nice with palm trees used as shade. The fun team was really good and made the holiday good fun. I'm 15, so having games to play with prizes to win was a good way to make friends. And trust me, I made loads (including fun team members Scooby and Shaggy, who were both so cute - especially shaggy!). There were games on the beach and pool in the morning, and by the pool in the afternoon. This is a hotel you have to stay at, so try it. The rooms were cleaned every day and the towels were changed every day, too. The restaurants were really nice and the staff put a lot of effort into the presentation of their food. The entertainment was brilliant. The entertainment team was always making people laugh, especially the main entertainment person "Danny Boy!" There was not much to do in the day here, but for those who just like to sunbathe, it was the perfect holiday. You can try scuba diving for free and all the watersports on the beach. The weather was great. There were lots of excursions to take (safaris, whale watching and Saona Island -where the Bounty Advert was filmed). Everything was free at the hotel, even the beach towels. The drinks and food at the hotel and beach were free, and so were the sunbeds. The beach was about a one-minute walk away and was lined with palm trees.There was even entertainment at the beach. Every game guests entered, they could win a prize for, usually a bottle of rum! The staff was great and always happy to help, and the entertainment team was amazing - always full of energy and enthusiasm. Our room was cleaned every day and the towels were also changed every day. The only downside was the food. It could have been better. There was a varied selection so you wouldnt go hungry. It just lacked imagination. The people were friendly, and if you needed help in any situation they would help you. They also provided good entertainment opportunities.
