4.0 stars This was a great third world experience. Visited: October 2006

The staff here was friendly and tried hard to please the guests. If you give them a dollar tip, they won't forget you all week.

The rooms were a good size, clean and had balconies.

The food was typical Dominican. However, there were burgers and things every day for lunch at the pool as well. The Italian restaurant was fine, and served almost any kind of alcohol, including cordials.

It wasn't fancy, but the grounds were very pretty. Be kind to the staff, and they'll do anything for you. They seemed to react badly to being screamed at (but, who wouldn't?!).

3.0 stars I had a bad experience with the entertainment team here. Visited: April 2006

I stayed here for spring break in 2006. It was kind of a last miute trip, and I didn't plan it. I had a good first impression when I arrived - and for the most part, I liked the resort. I had fun at the beach, and at both of the pools....especially the pool with the bar stools in the water!

However, my worst experience was with the "entertainment" team. While I was here, my friends and I had been in and out of town (so we knew the price of the cabs and the clubs). One night, we were waiting in the lobby trying to figure out what to do. We had met some people while waiting, and we all decided to go out together.

The entertainment team had walked into the lobby at that time, and they were going out, too. The "team" told us they would take us out for a night on the town. Since we had met them before, we thought they just wanted to hang out.

However, once we got into the cab, one of the guys from the "team" said that we all had to give him money. When I asked how much, he told me an amount that was equivalent to about $15 - per person!

Needless to say, the fee they were charging was ridiculous! When my friends and I told him that he was crazy and that he wasn't going to rip us off, he got really upset and actually grabbed one of my friends and pulled her out of the van. We were about to start fighting until security broke it up.

It might not seem like a big deal to some people, but just because I'm not from DR doesn't mean you can try and rip me off. I'm a student on a budget and I wuold much rather spend my money on drinks over there than handing it aimlessly over to some dude who thinks he owns the resort.

4.0 stars I loved it! Visited: June 2005

I loved staying here. I thought that the accommodations, food, and people were great.

The only thing that I didn't like was that the TV in my room didn't work - even after mentioning it to staff countless times. Oh well, I kept busy without it.

I would come back here in a second!

3.0 stars It was better than the first impression. Visited: March 2005

Being my second trip to the Dominican Republic in two months, I knew what to expect. This hotel far passed the last one I stayed in.

The food was what you would expect from these places, but I must add that I was not ill as some were, and I ate and drank far more than most.

Eating out is highly recommended, and a short stroll down the road there were some fine restaurants which offered very good value for the money.

The entertainment team tried their hardest to make the place fun, and the shows were okay in the evening. There was not a lot for kids.

I made some great friends and will return again. All in all, we had an amazing time and will be going back.
