I thought the quality of the food could be improved. They had great staff, a nice pool, and a nice beach with a warm ocean. They also offered great activities. |

Disappointed Visited: June 2005 |

My family and i stayed at the Canoa Hilton June 11 - 17, 2005. I have to say i am totally disappointed. I read a lot of mixed reviews, a lot more positive ones so decided to take a chance. What a mistake. The hotel front office staff are RUDE, they need a few lessons in customer service.
The room was clean and the cleaning lady was very nice, she was even nicer after she received her first $4.00 tip.
The food was average, did not care at all for the snack bar, the pizza was cold and tasted horrible, not enough variety and they served the same thing EVERY DAY!!!! The dinners were okay and the waiters are extremely polite. The hotel has a couple of restaurants, however 3 of them are outside and the mosquitos eat you up while you are dinning!
The beach had a lot of rocks and did not look clean! The pool was nice.
My family and I went on 2 excursions that were set up by Christian, the Expedia representative (he was awesome), we really enjoyed ourselves...was the best time we had in the entire 6 days.
My biggest complaint is of the service i endured upon check out. I was giving a bill of $1,280 pesos ($62.00) for 3 sodas, 4 beers and 2 waters. upon check-in we were told that we were allowed to drink 2 sodas, 2 waters and 2 beers free of charge, however what the failed to mention was the type of beer. I tried to explain to the person checking us out that we DID NOT drink more that the alloted amount, he did not want to hear me, he just keeping giving me the amount, when i asked for the manager he just ignored me and have me the bill for me to review AGAIN!!!! I told him that i should not have to pay for something I DID NOT DRINK!!! He was very rude and told me I was not leaving the hotel until I paid for the bill. The front desk staff were fully aware that a van was waiting to take us the airport and took advantage of the situation. I am very upset at the hotel staff, thier lack of customer service and the rude treatment we recieved before we left is unforgivable.....WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS HOTEL AGAIN!!!! They are out to get your money at the end of your stay!!! I was told by the taxi driver that this happens often and that is the reason the hotel has lost a lot of business...GUESS WHAT??? THEY JUST LOST MORE!!
