Located 15 minutes from the airport on Playa Dorada beach, the Occidental Grand Puerto Plata is surrounded by the 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones. From snorkeling to salsa classes, there is an exciting schedule of all-day activities and sports as part of an all-inclusive package. Try windsurfing, go horseback riding, play tennis, volleyball, water polo, or take a SCUBA clinic in the pool. Extra off-site options include golf, as well as spa services that are also available at the resort on an a la carte basis.
There are many different types of accommodations to choose from, all with either a balcony or terrace, air conditioning & ceiling fans, satellite TV, and telephone. The 'Royal Club' categories offer a private reception with personalized concierge service, private check in, international beverages, an additional restaurant, as well as other amenities. The Royal Club also has its own private pool.
The Grand Puerto Plata offers a variety of delectable dining options, including 5 menu-style restaurants. Choose from authentic Mexican cuisine at La Hacienda, Italian specialties at Via Veneto, and juicy steaks at Les Reses Grill. For more casual meals and snacks, guests can head to La Giralda buffet, eat pizza at La Fontana, or choose the beach side barbecue menu at Las Marismas. When you simply need to quench your thirst, try the exotic experience of sipping a tropical cocktail at our swim-up Bar Hundido, or enjoy evening drinks at La Bodega or La Bodeguita bars. And be sure to enjoy spectacular nightly entertainment and a fun filled night club at Mangu Disco.
There are also many activities to choose from, including tennis, pool & beach volleyball, snorkeling, aerobics, windsurfing, kayaking, horseback riding, and daily & nightly entertainment, all included in your cost. Golf and motorized water sports are available at an additional cost, as well as beauty salon and babysitting services (the Kids Club, with supervised activities for ages 4 to 12, is included).
The area of Playa Dorada also has shopping and an active night life with discos and casinos, and the town of Puerto Plata is only about 15 minutes away.
