4.0 stars I love this place! Visited: March 2007

This was my second trip to Casa Marina. During my first trip in 2002, I stayed on Reef side. This time I stayed on Beach side - they are both excellent.

The staff is super nice and friendly. The food is excellent (too good for the waistline!). The pools and beach are clean and tidy, and the bar service is excellent.

I also swam with the dolphins at Ocean World. It was the coolest thing I have ever done. You must do the Outback Safari (Jesse or Kenny as guides).

I am planning my next trip back for Christmas, and I can't wait to get there.

3.0 stars It was excellent for the price. Visited: May 2006

We had a one-week stay at Casa Marina Beach and enjoyed every minute of it - including the food drink and entertainment.

However, on a note that has been previously mentioned - the lip sync in the shows in the evening was poor. We actually mentioned it to a cast member, and he said he knew and the "boss" was trying to get the cast to learn the songs in English.

Apart from this insignificant quibble, every thing was excellent.
By the way, when you are on the way home and flying from Punta Cana, pay the $20 for the VIP suite and you will be welcomed into a well air conditioned room with snacks and drinks availible included in the price.

We would definitely visit the Dominican Republic again - be it the same hotel? Who knows?

4.0 stars The weather, food, and the staff were great! Visited: October 2005

This was my second visit to the Dominican Republic and I enjoyed it much more this time. Casa Marina Beach was everything I could ask for in a great holiday.

The staff was friendly, kind and most of them spoke some English. The animation team was enjoyable for the kids, and they always had a smile on their faces (as did the other staff in the hotel).

Also, the food was great and would always suit my tastes. But the best thing going for me was the beach. They had clear white sand and sparkling water that matched the fantastic weather we got most every day. But as in every country, there has to be a bit of rain. The beach was filled with things to do, such as banana boats and other activities.

It was the best two weeks I've had so far. I can't wait until next year!

3.0 stars It was a very enjoyable holiday, and an excellent value for the money. Visited: August 2005

My wife, daughter (aged fifteen) and I visited the resort in August 2005. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We also enjoyed the excursions to Paradise Isle (it was like a scene out of Finding Nemo!) and the Monster truck safari. On the latter, take pencils and things for the schoolchildren. However, they were totally focused on having all my daughter`s earrings as well.

The staff was friendly, and if you tip the bar staff at the beach bars, you will get served quicker and get stronger quantities of spirits in your drink. A tip: if you are not going to the shows and are sitting around the beach bars, get a couple of drinks in before 10.30 pm. The shows finish about that time, and it is harder to get served as people flock to the bar, which closes at 11:00 pm.

It was also pleasant to watch the sun go down on the horizon at night...a big red glow on the distant sea.

On the health front, occasionally watch the waves on the beach as they can be quite big, but extremely fun.

Also, take care with the plentiful supply of food and drink. Peel the fruit, and don`t eat anything which may have been washed in the region`s water. Don`t even clean your teeth with the water in the room.

If you like a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of cake during the afternoon, a tea trolley (cart) appeared the beach side of the Mexican restaurant every day. The cake was always fresh.

Enjoy your stay - we certainly did.

1.0 stars I thought it was very bad. Visited: August 2005

I didn't think this property was very good. Also, I thought the food and personnel were both poor.

I am from Dominican decent, but I was born in New York. Maybe to them, I was not a tourist, because they didn't treat my family and me very well.

I would recommend this place to anyone. I had a great time.

The food was delicious, and the pools were great. The beach was a beautiful sight, too. The night entertainment staff was cool.

I would rank this as a five-star resort.

3.0 stars This was one of the best weeks of my life. Visited: April 2005

If I was only reviewing the atmosphere of this resort, I would have to give it five stars.

The staff of Casa Marina Beach and Casa Marina Reef (adjoining resort where we stayed) were amazing. We had one of the best weeks of our lives at this place!

Though the food left a little to be desired, there was still something everyone could enjoy at every buffet style meal. The disco was great, and the shows put on by Staff members and dancers in the evening were both hilarious, and entertaining.

Overall, I would reccommend this resort to a younger crowd. It wasn't as fancy or nice as some adults might like, but it was more fun than you could imagine! Head out to the bars, or go to Sousa beach to fully enjoy your trip!

3.0 stars This was a comfortable resort with super-friendly staff. Visited: December 2004

Three of my friends and I stayed here and we had a pleasant stay.

Our room was basic, but we had a good view of the pool so we were able to listen to the music while we were in our room. The room was cleaned daily to a good standard, leaving a tip for the cleaner, meant extra things were done such as beach towels being folded, etc.

The staff was friendly and always willing to help. It did rain a couple of the days we were here, but there were other things to enjoy such as having your nails manicured and indulging in massages.

Overall, I would say the food was okay, there were restaurants outside, but be careful as we were warned that it was a little rough.

I would visit here again, as it was a very comfortable and relaxing resort. There were brilliant excursions on offer - definitely try Paradise Island and the Jeep Safari (it's good if you can swim), you get to climb at least seven waterfalls.

You can book these through the excursions operator called Mario just outside the hotel or you can do it through the hotel. They were both definitely breathtaking trips. The friendly and helpful staff made the holiday a very pleasant trip.

The food very bad. We had to eat at the adjoining hotel rooms. Also, the hotel staff was very un-helpful. I recommend you not waste your money to come here.

4.0 stars It was nice, but dampened by the weather. Visited: November 2004

My wife and I visited Casa Marina Beach for our honeymoon and enjoyed ourselves. The weather robbed us of enjoying the water sports as the beach was closed the ten days we were here.

The food got tiresome after five days, and the evening entertainment was fun but was bad lipsynching.

The trip to Paradise Island was worth it, though! Enjoying the sun and the beer was great, and we both appreciated the international crowd of visitors. We were the only Americans we saw and it was nice.

We would come back to Sosua, but would probably try another hotel for a different experience. It was good but not great, yet not bad.

You should come to Casa Marina expecting a three-star, not a five-star property. It was basic, but it was what I would expect for three-star.

I loved it here. We had a great holiday from start to finish. I got married while I was here and could not have wished for a nicer wedding day. I spent two weeks here and could have easily stayed for another two weeks.

The staff was great, friendly and helpful and seemed to do anything for the guests.

A word of advice though: If you go during the rainy season, request an upper floor room. We had ground floor room and it flooded when it rained.

You will have a great holiday here. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

I found the hotel staff very pleasant and friendly. The food was good, and evening entertaiment was fun. Also, the rooms were air conditioned, and the showers and bathroom were cleaned every day.

We went out every day to the local market in Caberete, Sosua and Puerto Plata. The hotel was family-friendly and safe. I will be back in 2005.
