Five of us (from Pennsylvania, USA) stayed here from May 11th to 16th, 2008. We booked through Susan Judd at Berwick Travel. She was very helpful and took care of all our travel needs.
We stayed in three Platinum Suites (793, 795 and 796). I would highly recommend the upgrade to Platinum Club. Margarita, Anna and Juan were great to deal with.
On Sunday night, we booked the entire week for the time we wanted each night. We ate at Licey (no charge, included with Platinum upgrade), Tanuki, Chopin and Bella Pasta. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Food selection was very good, while both buffets had chefs preparing fresh food (to your order) in addition to all the staged buffet food.
Drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and specialty coffees at the Platinum Lounge were consumed daily. The no-charge stocked mini-bar and liquor in the room was a nice convenience, too.
Lehandro, our VIP representative was on-site, and very knowledgeable. He took care of scheduling our transfers back to the airport. We also booked a 4-wheeler excursion with him. We all had a great time 4-wheeling in the country-side.
The weather was great. We had about 15 seconds of rain (light shower) the whole week. The ocean and beach were awesome - no words could describe them, you must see!
Overall, I would highly recommend Bavaro Princess. We didn’t experience anything negative here. |

We just returned from our stay at the Bavaro Princess, and every thing was great. However, when we entered our room, it stank from mold. It was so bad that we requested to be moved.
They moved us, but we encountered the same problem. I found that it was the air conditioning unit spewing the smell. We did not use the AC.
However, we loved the stay anyway, and are going back in December 2007. |

Bavaro Princess is the way to go. Visited: July 2007 |

I stayed at the Bavaro Princess July 23 - July 27 with a group of friends and family members - totaling 14 people. This particular group travels annually, and therefore, knows what to expect from different types of cultures.
As with any third world country or Caribbean island, you would expect the low water pressure - sometimes lack of hot water. You might also expect the ocassional bugs due to the humidity of the island.
But through it all, the Bavaro Princess stay was one of the most pleasurable vacations most of us have ever encountered.
The grounds were immaculate, and the rooms and other entertainment/activity areas were just fabulous.
There were mixed feelings about certain restaraunts, but we all felt "The Chopin" international buffet was delightful. The "Outback Safari Tour" we took was a "not to miss" excursion that made our Dominican Republic stay feel a little more complete.
I would recommend both this area and resort to anyone. |

If you like being treated rudely, poor service and severe cramps and diarreha, then this is the place for you. I would not recommend any place in the Dominican Republic as I have heard similar complaints from people at surrounding resorts. There are so many beautiful beaches to see and this one would be too if it weren't littered with trash from the guests..i can see similar beaches here in Texas! By far, the worst place I've ever been. This was my honeymoon turned into a nightmare! We paid extra for "honeymoon extras" that we never got! Good Luck if you stay here! |

I agree with so many about the food. I am not fussing at all.
I arrived on Tuesday. Wednesday I woke up like in was in labor. I was sick in bed all day - dehydrated. I was afraid to eat the remainder of the trip.
I went to doctor on my return; and I am still not myself two weeks after.
The cold cuts were sitting under a heat lamp it seemed. Everyone was eating them up, and it seemed eight out of every ten people were sick when I was here.
To my understanding, there was a power outage the day before my arrival. I think they might have used the food anyway. |

This was, by far, the best hotel to stay in. If you're going to the Dominican Republic, stay at The Bavaro Princess. It rocked!
We enjoyed speedy service, great food, beautiful beaches, and fun games. The people were cheerful, and the staff was helpful.
It was great! There's nowhere better to go! |

We had such a wonderful experience. The staff was amazing!
The food was not bad at all. There was tons to choose from.
Also, the beaches and pool areas were clean. The rooms were very clean, too. The staff kept them up so very well!
I believe anyone would have a lovely time here. We can't wait to go back. |

Please don't pay attention to the bad reviews. The hotel was great. The beach was as beautiful as any I have ever seen.
There were seven adults and two kids on this trip. We had a great time. Of course, there were a few things we would have changed. There was a wait for the trolley. It took us around the resort and to the lobby etc. But that was a minor thing when you are on vacation.
Most of the restuarants were not air conditioned, and it took some getting used to. We understood that when we booked this hotel.
We had been to Punta Cana on a previous trip. You will never find a more appreciative and friendly island of people. We took gift bags for the hotel workers. They were filled with everything from candy, baby clothes, medicine, Spanish Bibles, and baseball cards(they especially love them.)
I think that all the people who complain about minor things should stay at home. We in the United States get paid more in one hour than a lot of Dominicans do for a whole day. They are smiling and happy while they work, while people on vacation are being bitter and rude about things that are not important.
If you look for good, you will find good! If you look for bad, you will be sure to find it, too!You are on vacation in a beautiful place with friendly giving people. Take advantage of the blessings you have around you.
The language barrier was there, but there are English speaking managers and waiters in the restaurants and hotel staff in the lobby. Remember, you are in "their" country, so don't complain if you don't understand some Spanish. If they don't understand you, they will get someone who speaks English. That's part of the fun in traveling to the Dominican Republic!
We plan on returning to Punta Cana next year. It has become one of our favorite places to visit! |

This was not a five-star resort. Visited: March 2006 |

We were told this was classified as a five-star resort. We say it is closer to a three-star.
The grounds of the property were maintained, and the rooms are fairly clean. The beach was beautiful. The pool, though not as clean as I would prefer, was nice. Most of the resort personnel were friendly.
The food at El Gaucho was okay. Licey's was worth the extra cost. I recommend you stay away from the seafood restaurant, breakfast and lunch buffets. The food was room temperature, and either overcooked or undercooked. Everyone got sick the last two days and we are still suffering.
The resort was very big, and there was a tram that you could ride to get around. We won't come here again.

We just got back from our trip to the Dominican Republic where we stayed at the Bavaro Princess. It was a perfect trip! The staff was always very helpful, and very kind. Never did they have a problem accommodating all 32 of us (wedding party).
The food was great...the many restaurants were fantastic, and the variety was incredible as well. The piano boat restaurant was amazing, and a great experience.
The shuttles came often and were a very convenient way of getting around the beautiful resort. The pool and ocean were a stone's throw from our hotel room. We also went snorkeling and boogie bording, so there was lots to do other than laying around all day.
I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone....for a wedding, or even for a small family vacation...it's perfect! I am so glad I went! Enjoy! |

This hotel was perfect in every way. My husband and I spent one week at the Bávaro for our honeymoon, and we were so glad we did! This spot was a dream location.
Pointers: If you stay here, be sure to get the VIP package. It´s not that much more money, but it ensures that you´ll have all the perks. |

The beach was amazing - the ocean was always warm. Visited: July 2004 |

The ocean was phenomenal. The water could have been a little cooler, more refreshing. But, if you like it warm, this is the place to be! Also, the sand was great for building castles. It was white and soft, amazing!
And the pool water, by the beach, was also warm... a little too warm! Water aerobics and stretching classes were absolutely great.
They also provided a great variety of food, although it was all very oily. You have to ask the chef to go light on the oil if you are watching those calories.
The staff was very accommodating, as well. All in all, it was a nice place to go and relax - or party...depending on your desire.
I almost forgot... go shopping. It is right outside the hotel, just a five-minute walk. Do not wait and buy souveniers at the airport on the way home, they had nothing there. Negotiate and buy what you like before you go to the airport.
Have a great trip and watch out for that Caribbean sun. I used
SPF 30 and 45, and still got color. |

My family and I had an awesome time at this resort!
The service was great - they helped so much. They even left pretty flowers around our sink (it was a different pattern every day). It was so nice of them to make our stay so enjoyable.
My favorite part of the whole experience was the crew that went around taking pictures of guests with that cute little monkey. My brother actually got to take a picture with the monkey drinking a coke. Also, we met a lot of friends who we still talk to.
If you are going to stay at this wonderful resort, I would recommend that you bring school supplies. We took a cab out to a local school and donated the supplies to the school it was a great experience!
When I get married, this is definitely where I'm having my wedding. |

The resort was average in every way. Visited: April 2004 |

The grounds and the beach were beautiful, but other than that, everything about the resort was average.
We thought the food was about the same quality as cafeteria food(even at the a la carte restaurants), and the service seemed to be hit and miss.
For our money, there were better places to stay on the same beach. I'm glad we went, but I would never return. |

My friends and I just got back from our one-week stay at the Bavaro Princess. We are already planning our next trip back in a few months. We all cried when we left and we miss it so much.
I am the most picky eater anyone has ever met, and I never starved. I always found a lot of things I knew I couldn't get sick from and I would enjoy.
We made friends with various bartenders at all the bars (helped along by tipping) and we always received a large smile, received all the drinks we wanted and extra drinks even when we didn't order them, and got served before others who were waiting longer. Even with the language barrier, we never had a problem ordering anything.
One of the most enjoyable parts of our trip was the entertainment at night. We joked around with the Animation team (the entertainers) and soon developed a great friendship with all of them. The shows were hilarious and the team never let us miss out on all the events they ran through out the day. These guys are what we miss the most.
The garden crew and the cleaning ladies kept everything looking spectacular. And all the facilites and the beach were incredible. I have never seen anything so gorgeous and well kept. It was undescribable.
The nonpowered watersports were included and we took full advantage of it. Boggieboarding, windsurfing and kayaking were our choices and we did them at least one each day. Hobie cats were also available. They were very enjoyable.
If you are trying to decide on a resort or you are already booked here, this is the best resort in Punta Cana by far. We saw every resort, and we thought ours was superior in every way.
We also always had fun at the resort disco, especially when our friends from the Animation crew showed up.
I hope this has helped you out, and maybe I will see you here. |

I've read the other reviews and I couldn't believe how people could be so foolish. I just came back yesterday from a stay at the Bavaro Princess, and from my dream.
I've never seen such a kind people like those in the Dominican Republic and on the staff at the resort. It's true, not many people spoke English or French, or others, but it was not a problem. I could communicate wth gestures and a smile. They did everything for me!
Meals were delicious, the room was always clean, with fresh flowers, and the beach was really beautiful. For my boyfriend and I - everything was perfect.
We tried three excursions. They were amusing, interesting, and we met really nice people.
If you want to have a relaxing, amusing and nice holiday, come here and try! I'll never forget it. I want to go back. |

I found the accommodations to be clean and bright... and the room was cleaned promptly every day. This is a large resort with lot's available. The beach is amazing and well groomed. However, the resort is so large you need to take a small train from the various areas. There is usually a line up for the trains and people just barge in.I can see this could be a problem with small children. So, be prepared to waite. The food is not very good and really doesn't cater to North American Taste. Yes they have a lot of choices, but I rather have better food ( less fried )and less choices . We were close to the beach where they have a couple of restaurants near-by. I was surprised to find that you couldn't get a coffee from either of these restaurants first thing in the morning. If you want a coffee you have to take the train to the main building.I was also disappointed to find we didn't have hot water during our entire stay. We brought this to the attention of the hotel every day and it was the same old story " we'll get it fixed "----never happened. and finally, the forth day into the holiday I became sick....first time ever during my years of travel. Not sure if it was the food or water, but it's the first time ever that I've been sick So, be careful!! |

My husband and I have just returned from the Dominican Republic after spending a wonderful two weeks honeymooning at the Bavaro Princess.
Although there weren't many English speaking people (staff or guests) we still had a fantastic time. The staff was really helpful and went out of their way to see we had everything we needed.
This is still a developing country, but we found the amenities more than satisfactory, the resort was so beautiful that not having hot water every night really did seem like a small price to pay!
We also found the food to be good - especially the desserts!
For an absolutely breathtaking trip - take the boat to Sousa (where the Bounty advertisment was filmed). The sea was crystal clear - so remember your snorkles. We also took an underwater camera and got really good pictures of the fish and starfish.
We would go back tomorrow! |
