My family and I had a very nice time at this resort. The only thing I had a problem with was that we had to call for towels every day. But as a whole, we enjoyed our stay. The people were very pleasant and friendly. |

Not my kind of vacation Visited: August 2003 |

Where do I start? We arrived at 10:00pm on a Saturday night. We went to the closest restaurant for something to eat. We were told they would not sever us because we were not properly dressed. All restaurants required men to wear long pants - not shorts. If you do not speak Spanish be prepared to be ignored! The line to make dinner reservation is ridiculous, and you are not guaranteed to get reservation at the restaurant of your first choice. Also, the restaurant Licey charges you $25. Per person to eat there. Please please do not drink the water - I must tell you I was sick from the water and the food for 2 weeks after I came home from there. The food in general, although the varied choice, was poor in quality. The main buffet has lunchmeats sitting under hot lights cooking away - and sitting in grease. The majority of the food where under the hot lights whether they should be or not and the food is not of a four star standing, and flies galore on the food. The all-inclusive drinks only include the locale liquors - no top shelf liquor was included. We were very disappointed with the non-existence of housekeeping staff at The Bavaro Princess Resort and Hotel in Punta Cana. The hotel's suites only deserve 2 stars. While they are big, they are not well cleaned and the towels were often forgotten. The room was in desperate need of painting. There is nothing for a family to do after dinner - the floorshows are very limited and poorly done. However, you can play bingo in Spanish if you know Spanish.
Not a shopping vacation.
Yes, the grounds are nice, but that is it. This hotel does not deserve the Four Star rating.
It's expensive for a hotel of this category with seemingly bad organization in housekeeping and an unqualified staff, which cannot even smile. The management refused to do anything to help you with any cause of any problems we experienced. These are only some of my bad experiences in Bavaro Princess.
Yes, the beach and pool areas allow women to be topless.

I had an amazing time. It was a great place to meet new people. Everyone was very nice.
The only problems were that there were not enough maids, so it took longer to get your room made. And, the food was all the same and I got food poisoning. Other than that, it was a lot of fun. |

very unhappy from manager service: Jesus M. Tabliega Visited: July 2003 |

On July 2003 I went on vacation to Dominican Republic, Bavaro Princess Resort. During my vacation someone from the hotel staff had stolen my digital video camera from room 3239. I made a report and spoke to Jesus M. Tabliega-Assistant Manager of the resort. My camera was never recovered and nobody knew what happened to it. I want to make a complane regarding this matter and would like someone to get back to me. I have all the receipts for the camera which was purchased before the trip. |

We had the time of our lives. Visited: July 2003 |

Five very satisfied ladies in our 20s just got back from Punta Cana. We stayed at the Bavaro Princess and we had a blast!
The resort was huge, the beach was to die for and the pool was at the best temperature all the time. Also, the grounds were beautiful and well maintained, maid service was fine, the food was great and the people were awesome!
I had read past reviews before I left and got quite nervous because I read all negative reviews. I have no idea what these people have been talking about. If they were not satisfied with this type of package including the food, they should really consider joining a vacation company where they choose what to eat and when to eat, and clean the units themselves and bring their own towels.
People should realize that they are not at home…and that the people here can only do so much to make sure everyone is completely satisfied.
We would like to send a special thanks to Lehandro, Alfredo, Oscar, Carlos, for the daily entertainment; Rafael, Julian Ceasor and Ruban at the pool bar who served the best drinks; all the wonderful ladies who kept up with the pool and beach aerobics; and to all the people who entertained us at night with the great shows.
We also took the VIP package and it wasn't bad at all. Their beer was a little gassy, but the secret was to stir it when we got it to let out the most of the gas. But of course I learned that on the plane back to Toronto - how convenient huh?
We didn't need all those beers and pops in our rooms…we were happy with water. If we needed drinks we would get them at the bars, we didn't have time to drink in our rooms as we were never there except to shower, change and sleep.
Other reviews noted the need for a converter. During our stay, they gave us the converter. However, it did not work. But why would you need a converter? Do you think you will stay in your room to watch TV? There was always something to do. We did it the old fashioned way. We got up, changed the channel, found a show and left it on that channel and got ready for dinner.
Whoever gave negative reviews on the Lacey restaurant must be losing some marbles, because we were there and it was fantastic.
After every course, they took our knives and forks and brought us clean ones. Now that's service!
Over all I give the resort, the entertainment and amenities a full five stars. Would I go back? I'm planning a trip in January. |

This resort had great rooms, a nice pool and beach, and good restaurants. Also, the maids left fresh flowers in our room each day!
I had read poor reviews of the food and was scared. The grill served some of the best beef we had ever had, and the flaming fruit dessert was unbelievable. Get the VIP package - the dinner at the only charging restaurant was included. We had unbelievable food and service.
Also included in the VIP package were massages in the cabanas by the pool. VIP also allowed us to make our dinner reservations three days in advance.
And you have to try the buffet restaurant with the grand piano that travels around the restaurant on a boat- it was something really different.
Perhaps the hotel wasn't real busy - but we had no complaints. The staff spoke Spanish - they seemed to love to help us learn the language and seemed to really appreciate us trying. |

A horrible experience. Visited: May 2003 |

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Bavaro Princess in Punta Cana in May 2003 for 6 nights. It was a disaster the moment we got off the plane when my passport was switched with someone else's. (I didn't realize this until I got to the hotel and they asked to see my passport at check in--so be very careful when the airport checks your passport. Also you cannot return home without your passport, so I was a bit nervous. I eventually got it back on my 4th day obviously, but it was not easy as you can imagine).
We then waited 45 minutes on the bus at the airport while the man came to collect our transfer tickets to get to the hotel. Once we got to the hotel, they placed us in the wrong room (with two twin beds). We also purchased the VIP package, which we didn't have (our refrigerator was not stocked). Once we complained to the front desk, nothing was ever done! We couldn't even get reservations for dinner that night or the next night. Why we purchased the VIP package, I still don't know.
Our trip was based on making trips to and from the front desk (a pretty far walk since the hotel property is huge--too big actually.) You have to take shuttle buses around the resort, which was a joke. Half the time the buses were packed and we would have to wait for another one. Shockingly, that one would be packed also.
The only nice thing I can say about Punta Cana is the beaches were absolutely beautiful. I would highly suggest staying at another resort though. There was not much nightlife here. Nobody spoke English and the food was horrible. Whatever we ate went right through us; my boyfriend was stuck in the room an entire day with bad stomach pains (if you know what I mean). So be careful with what you eat and drink there. We had eventually gotten our room switched after the 3rd night. Than, when it was time to check out, we got charged a massive amount of miscellaneous charges from our other room. Charges such as phone calls (we never used the phone) snacks taken from the mini bar (which we only took what we were allowed to take with the VIP Package). Even the check out was a hassle. We spent over 30 minutes arguing and ended up settling to pay 50.00 US Dollars just to leave the hotel; we were tired of arguing. Nobody really understood us anyway. So the vacation turned out to be a disaster, but we tried our best to enjoy what we could and took advantage of the beach, the pool and the drinks! Enjoy! |

Heard such wonderdul things about Punta Cana, we decided to try it. The resort was beautiful and the food was good. The problem...I was never so upset on a vaction in my life. Americans are absolutely hated and ignored. Everyone is from everywhere BUT the great USA. People find out you are American, and shoot you looks, push, but in line. The rudest guests I have ever seen in my life. The few Americans we met said they would NEVER go back to this place again. At one time USA was yelled in a pool competition and was boo-ed; Lets not forget that you must be in line for dinner reservations by 7:30 a.m. to maybe get them for that night or the next. Get up early if you think you are eating anywhere good. My advice...make sure you talk to your travel agent twice before booking this place. Looks are not everything. You will not be happy here. The guests will make your time HORRIBLE. |

I thought their reservation process for the restaurant was extremely difficult. The staff informed us that there were no seats left, only to find that there were 7-8 empty tables. The menu items were unavailable most of the time and the substitutes were not up to par. The steak was tough and the "trout" was very pink and looked a lot like salmon.
Housekeeping did not get to our room until after 6:30 PM and left only one set of bath towels. We had to beg, it took three days, to get the bathrobes, TV remote, and other gifts from the hotel. The mini bar was not included.
The food overall was low-quality buffet style that was the same fare for every meal. |

The resort was beautiful and romantic. Lots of food choices. Service wasn't too bad. My advice is to watch out what you eat 8 out of 10 people we hung around ended up getting sick. I believe that we had food poisoning, although we didn't eat at the same restaurants on the same evenings. We had the seafood evening at El Pescadores, had shellfish and got very sick that night. It two weeks after our vacation there and we are only now starting to feel better and eat more solid foods. Take some action to prevent a bad time and bring appropriate over-the-counter medications. Don't drink too much coconut milk, found in Coco-local drinks etc. (It is a natural laxative.)
Good luck and hope nobody gets what we had, which was not fun. Don't bring the kids, if they get sick you'll be in your room for the whole trip. |

The Bavaro Princess Resort was great. The animation staff was amazing and very friendly. The shows were entertaining. Make sure to get a seat right by the stage to get full impact of the show.
Be prepared to do a lot of walking, since this resort was large and required a lot of walking to get from one place to another. The rooms were very nice, and so was everything surrounding the hotel. The scenery was breathtaking.
The food at the à la carte restaurants was gross, though at the buffet you could always find something that was enjoyable to eat. Not much of the staff spoke English, so there was a language barrior present, but you could usually get what you asked for.
If you're up for a great vacation and wish to keep busy, this resort is for you. This resort really catered more to the younger crowd. Have a wonderful time in Punta Cana. |

If you have never been in a 5-star all-inclusive resort before, you may think that there is nothing wrong with this place. However, it is the worst place I have been to and I have seen a lot. Although the resort grounds are absolutely spectacular, the staff is rude and absolutely indifferent. You will have to scream and argue to get anything done. Room service is dysfunctional and we got bed sheets changed only once in 7 days.
Food is horrible and the management refused to do anything to help us with any cause of any problems we experienced. I only described some of my bad experiences in Bavaro Princess and you can contact me to find out more. There are much better places to go. |

We went with three other couples and our daughters. We all had a fabulous time. This resort was more than what we expected.
The service and staff were great, and the food was excellent - with so many choices. The grounds, the beach, and the pool were all so beautiful and well kept. We are all planing to return. Thank you, for this great holiday! |

My friends and I (18 people) spent a full week in Bavaro Princess from February 14th through the 21st.
The accommodations were clean and nice. But what made this stay unforgettable was the staff who always demonstrated a very nice, charming attitude (most of us spoke fluent Spanish). They organized activities on the beach, participated in night shows and gathered with us at night for salsa practice.
All-inclusive was perfect as we didn't have to carry money with us. We made reservations in advance at restaurants, and the staff always moved tables around so we could sit together. They never asked for tips and a smile with a "gracias" was their reward. I recommend it. |

It's a nice resort, but the food is not that good. Visited: February 2003 |

There were a lot of good things here - the beach, pools, and the landscape. The service was okay.
However, we did not like the food. We had to limit ourselves to fruits , jucies, ice cream, pasta, and omeletes in the morning. The meat and fish dishes were not delicious at all, the salads were bad (they were fresh, but it was hard to understand the combination of things even with our European backgrounds).
It was very, very hard to book a dinner at the three 'good' restaurants. Everything was booked in advance by VIP guests. No top shelf liquor was included, the cocktails were also okay, but it could take 15 minutes to get them in the peak hour.
I understand the food situation was pretty much the same all over the island (at least few people on the flight back had the same issues).
Don't be afraid to walk to the plaza outside. They had cheaper prices, but do some price comparison before you buy things. They had the same stuff everywhere. Cigars were much cheaper on the plaza.
Also, when they promise you a service in five minutes , they are talking about Dominican minutes. Don't look at your watch, it will not make time go faster.
And learn some basic Spanish. There were very few English speaking people, which was not totally unpleasant. |

The Bavaro Princess Resort was very, very nice! Visited: January 2003 |

The grounds were the first thing we noticed. They were huge (20 minutes to walk from end to end) and the flora was phenomenal. There was a nice mix of palm and various other trees and bushes which made the scenery very appealing.
The rooms were simple, but nice. One review read that everything was damp, but what do you expect in a hot humid climate? I found that running the AC on high solved most of the humidity problems.
It was difficult to find English-speaking staff. I would suggest the check-in staff if you are looking for English/Spanish translation. Most of the staff had French as their second language rather than English. I had no problem ordering food or drinks. That's why we picked all inclusive!
The food at the buffets was mediocre. Chopin far outweighed Hispanola in quality, so I would suggest having breakfast there. Have them cook an omlette the way you want it and you can't go wrong. Make the effort to get up early and make reservations for one of the specialty restaurants as they were far superior where supper was concerned. The service was good and the Pescador(seafood) was excellent - five stars.
The beach was beautiful and despite the claims in previous reviews I had no trouble getting a beach chair at any time of day.
This was an excellent place to spend a vacation. |

A beautiful property and beach, but lousy food and service. Visited: December 2002 |

This place had absolutely no idea how to deal with a full-capacity holiday crowd. There was minimal English spoken, housekeeping was virtually non-existent, there was no hot water at all in our suite and dinner reservations were only possible if you waited in line at least an hour daily in attempts to get something at the 5 non-buffet restaurants. There were always lineups for drinks or food and it was impossible to get a beach chair. This resort has the potential to be a 5-star, but the service will have to improve considerably. |

My wife and I decided to spend Christmas in the sun. Unfortunately I did not expect to have to complain to get what I paid for. The property is beautiful, colorful, well kept and private.
Upon arrival at 1:30 am we were left to carry our luggage almost 1 km to our room without help. We had no hot water for 2 days. I don’t think that the tub was ever washed. The turn down service lasted 2 days and the "complimentary" rum, bathrobes and cigars only came on the third day and I paid the VIP extra cost. There is a lack of staff and training.
Thankfully the food was excellent. Another problem was the language barrier. If you don't speak Spanish, good luck!
If you are going to this property here are some tips.
-Great pool, beach and grounds.
-Learn basic Spanish
-Do not pay for the VIP package
-Expect to be served very slowly
-Try to make as many restaurant reservations at one time as you can
-Book daily excursions in advance because space is very limited
-Check your room thoroughly upon arrival with a staff member
If you do this you will enjoy your stay.
This property has the potential of being a 5-star resort if the management practices and staffing problems are reviewed and corrected.
