This was a wonderful respite from the ordinary. The island was so beautiful. And, the staff here was great.

Worst value for your money. Visited: August 2003

If you like getting trapped in the elevator daily, food poisoning from the hotel kitchen, damp sheets and pillows and catching the serving staff have sex in the gym, it's definately the place to be. The staff is friendly though.

Off the beaten path, but a nice hotel Visited: May 2002

I have actually stayed at this hotel twice. Located on the western edge of the city, the Fiesta hotel is situated in one of the better sections of Santo Domingo.

If you happen to room poolside on an upper floor, the view is splendid of the ocean, large multiple pools below, the mountain skyline, and other sections of the city. Although, other reviewers have mentioned their rooms not being up to par, I have always recieved a satisfactory room with everything functional. It should be noted that the hotel has been performing internal renovations for more than a year, so room concerns are being addressed.

The lobby is exceptionally spacious and breathtaking. It features a large tropical bird cage in the center (quite unusual), money exchange, and rectangular-shaped bar at the opposite end with entertainment usually on weekends. You can get a massage, buy quality cigars, gifts, newspapers in several adjacent shops on the bottom floor.

The pool is quite startling in size, and one of the largest that you will find in the city. Sometimes the pool staff can seem a bit slow in serving drinks and food, but I guess they are operating on island time.

I found the hotel and staff friendly and would recommend the hotel because it is away from the core city traffic congestion and bustle.

An excellent and friendly hotel - would definitely recommend it. Visited: March 2002

The hotel is quite old in appearance, but you shouldn't be fooled by this. The staff is really friendly.

The swimming pool and food are great.

I will stay here the next time I am in Santo Domingo.

I just recently stayed at this hotel and it was wonderful.

I was part of a mission group that travels every year and they gave us a tremendous discount!

The hotel was just beatifu and the people were really friendly! I felt so relaxed and comfortable there.

I will keep visiting!

Zero stars! Visited: June 2001

The only reason I rated this 1-star is that I couldn't rate it a zero. The room we first got had an awful musty smell to it. The second room we got was no better. We changed hotels. Yes, the people are friendly, but we all work too hard for our money to spend it on a place like this!

Friendly and simple Visited: November 1999

Like many other hotels in the city of Santo Domingo, the employees are friendly and efficient. I got sick (stomach virus) during my stay here and the crew went the extra mile to help me out. They spent a whole week bringing me lime juice and hot tea (not requested).

The best part was when I came back last year. Everybody remembered my name and the department of sales sent to my room a nice basket of fruit and a bottle of rum (Barcelo). It felt good to be welcomed.

Great hotel, a little out of the way. Visited: November 1999

The hotel has a great swimming pool that is a very winding shape, but has a length that is near olympic size. There is a sunken bar in the pool which is very nice, but expensive as compared to the normal bar in the lobby. Pool hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with no life guard. There are little cottages on the grounds which are probably the high rate rooms.

It is a very spacious hotel. The grounds at one time were nicely cultured, but the hurricane ripped up a lot of the plantation and the upper patio for the daytime restaurant. It is far off the beaten path, but taxi fare is only about $5 to the night life. They have closed the casino and at this time have no plans to reopen it.

It's not as good as it appear, but it is very friendly. Visited: November 1999

The room needed a lot of maintainance, bathtub plug did not work for example. We were a group of fourteen people and everyone had similar comments, from the televisions not working to the showers having only cold water. For the location, it was a better than average place to stay. It was beautiful as you enter but the rooms need help. Also, the elevators need work, sometimes it stopped 6 inches short of the floor you want.
