This was a beautiful resort, with great food and drinks, and good service. Visited: February 2005 |

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at the Luperon Beach Resort and would definitely recommend it.
Our only complaint is that it was difficult at times to find the individuals in charge of reserving the on-site restaurants and signing up for activities and exchanging towels. Outside of that, it was fabulous. |

This hotel was simply brilliant. I enjoyed it so much, I'm saving up to go back.
The day and night time entertainment were both fantastic, and my whole family enjoyed it. The rooms were so nice and welcoming, and the food was suitable for everyone. I really enjoyed it. Also, the staff was brilliant, and I would love to see them again. |

After reading dozens of reviews (most of which were terrible), we decided to make this trip anyway. My boyfriend (35years old) and I (36 years old) went with low expectations, other than to have a great time together. Which we did.
Most reviewers complained about the food and the service. Being in the service industry myself, I felt that most of these complaints were unfounded. We had several very cheery waitresses and bartenders! We just loved Jeshwann at the pool bar next to the buffet restaurant. She was superb!
The food was fine. We both decided that if we stuck to the buffet we always knew what we were getting. The mashed potatoes were great, chicken was always good, and - although not a seafood lover myself - my boyfriend said it was very good as well.
Other complaints in the reviews addressed the room standards. Having been a housekeeper and a housekeeping manager myself (at a four-star property), I can assure you that the rooms were very clean and well maintained in our block (15).
The maid was very thorough, and we were very satisfied with her service. The only bug we saw was on our last day, and it was a rather large spider that the maid killed for me.
Down at the pool bar, the entertainment was great. We loved Shorty and all the other animacion team members. My boyfriend was in a sesi (sexy) dance competion and we laughed our butts off, it was too funny. We certainly enjoyed his winnings later on (a bottle of rum).
We also met fantastic people on our trip.. Jen and Ryan from Calgary, Kate, Gisela, and Wayne from Biggar. I think we all felt the same about our trips!
All in all, it was a great trip, and we would definitely go back to this resort on another holiday! |

We found Luperon to be disappointing and frustrating. Visited: January 2005 |

We arrived with limited expectations, as we had read several dozen reviews of the hotel before we arrived. But we were in for a surprise.
The rooms were sparse, but clean and cheery. However, we had no water at all. It took a full day for us to get moved to another room that had water, and then we only had cold water and our toilet only flushed if we put our hand in the tank and pulled on a string.
It took another two days (and many, many calls to management) to get hot water. Then, our toilet didn't work at all and we had to be moved for a third time, after more calls and frustrating visits to the main lobby.
The other people we traveled with had similar problems, and 6 out of 12 people had to be moved, as well. The staff, while very friendly and kind, were not well trained and generally did not seem to be organized. One day, our safe was stuck closed and we called to get someone to help us. The worker showed up with a chisel to fix the problem - the same tool he showed up with to fix our toilet the previous day. No one ever apologized for the many problems we encountered, not even the management.
Also, we were never informed of when our bus would be leaving for the airport and we were told to walk around the resort and look for our rep ourselves to find out this information. Our checkout time was 1:00 and our flight didn't leave until 9:30, so we had to sit around for four hours with our luggage at our feet.
Our only other alternative was to pay $80.00 US to stay in our rooms for an four extra hours or to simply leave our luggage unattended in the busy lobby. By pure luck, we spotted our rep with a sign walking past us, so we knew our bus was leaving.
It is really unfortunate that these problems existed in great numbers. The resort itself was in a beautiful location and was very spacious. The beach was pristine and the water was warm, the food was generally good and the drinks were yummy.
However, upon closer examination, the resort was pretty run down - the paint was chipping and foundations were crumbling, light fixtures were hanging from the walls and there were leaks in every room from the rain.
We still managed to have a good time despite all of the problems. We had a lot of laughs and had a good vacation, but it would have been more enjoyable if half our time wasn't spend dealing with these issues. |

We had a surprisingly good holiday! Visited: December 2004 |

I have just returned having been to Luperon Beach Resort with my husband and 15-year-old son. We've never been to the Dominican Republic before, and I was a little apprehensive.
The grounds of the resort were immaculate, and the beach was cleaned of litter frequently. All levels of staff were extremely helpful and friendly (especially the "animacion" team who ensured my son was included, but never pressured into joining in activities). They were great lads who worked hard to make us feel welcome.
The room was cleaned thoroughly every day. It was basic, but hey, it`s only a base after all! Clean towels were supplied every day, and beach and pool towels were provided. h
Having checked with staff, we ventured the half hour walk into the town, but felt uneasy as no other tourists there. So we soon returned. However, we later found out that other holidaymakers went there regularly.
We walked ten minutes into the marina (ask reception for directions), and booked excursions through a lovely Dominican lady named Rosa. She had a boat moored in the marina, and introduced us to other people who were moored there and used the bar.
We went to Paradise Island. It was in the rain, but it was still good. We also did a jungle safari. Domingo, the guide, was super as were the guys who took us up (and down) the waterfalls.
Try the rum. I`m a converted rum and coke lady now. There was plenty of choice in food, though we struggled to get a la carte. But we survived, and we didn`t starve.
We had a few days rain. Some people moaned, but it was not the Dominicans' fault! And it was loads better to be in warm Dominican Republic rain than England`s December gloom!
Try to get out and about, the scenery was lovely. If you prefer posh nosh and luxury, stick to more developed European countries. We had a fabulous time, made some good friends, loved the Dominican people, and appreciated the poverty. We will take things for the children next time, but they all seemed happy, relaxed and always smiling. |

After reading reviews about the Luperon Beach Resort, I felt very put off and was ready to jack in the holiday and opt for a destination more liked. After a couple of weeks of good hard thinking, my family and I decided to go along and proceed with the holiday.
Upon arriving at the airport, I thought the worst. It looked scruffy and horrible. Giving the circumstances of the poor country, I gave it the benefit of the doubt.
We arrived at the resort only to be welcomed by very polite members of staff. Our cases were carried to our rooms for us and we were made to feel extremely welcomed.
The rooms were great - very spacious, with nice, comfortable beds and clean towels. The room was superb.
We went for breakfast the next morning, and my son's words were "O my God". These words were not from the point of disgust, but from the point of a surprised child. There was loads to choose from, and it all tasted fantastic. They also prepared freshly squeezed juices in front of us.
The pools were great, the facilities were fabulous, and the activities were cool. Also, the locals who came in on the weekend were very friendly.
The only bad point was that the a la carte menu was nothing to shout about. In fact, it was nothing special at all. |

We just got back from the Luperon and I have truly fallen in love with the place. Yes, it could do with a lick of paint, but we had the times of our lives.
I did have a bit of a dodgy tummy, but I do when ever I go on holiday. Ths food was fantastic and the service was excellent. I think people need to appreciate you don't get places as good as the Hilton in a poor country for the amount you pay for this holiday.
I would recommend it to anyone! |

Listen to us and not anyone else (giggle)! I went with my girlfriend for our first holiday, and what a great time we had.
I am 26, and my girlfriend is 18 and we both found something or nothing to keep us more then happy. The rooms were very big and clean with new bedding and towels each day even if they weren't used.
The food was excelent with too much to choose from - and the mash potatoes were amazing. The a la carte selections were really good, and the waitstaff was amazing with all the waiters shaking your hand as you enter and pulling my girlfriend's seat under for her, etc.
The drinks were really good, and believe me when I tell you, they do not skin flint on alcohol (unlike other all inclusives). Also, the beech was really nice and well looked after. The pools were clean and cleaned each day, but I was here when the huricane passed, so leaves were blown in when the wind got up. But I assure you, the staff did their best to sort the problem as soon as possible.
We read all the bad reviews before we went and I was worried that I would not like it at all. But I went with a open mind and I made the holiday into the best I've had yet! I wud go back again and I hope you don't listen to anyone who says bad things about somewhere so gorgeous.
It's not five-star yet, but from what I could tell they were making improvments each day and I suspect it will get there one day
In general, it was amazing and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Just go and enjoy yourself and relax. |

Those reviewers who actually liked Luperon, you obviously have not traveled or are not aware of acceptable standards.
They served poor drinks, appalling food, and the pool toilet facilities were sickening. And the entertainment was a joke! If it was not for the many people who we met whilst here, we would have gone insane.
Two weeks after this nightmare, I'm off to my doctor, as I am still suffering stomach issues.
I recommend that you change your hotel if you have booked for this place, as we passed many hotels of a much better quality. This was not a four-star resort as recommned in the brochure. It was just one sad experience. I'd hate for anyone to go through what we went through. |

We traveled to this resort the end of June. We are planning to return as we loved the whole place. We have been to the Dominican Republic before, and I thought this was the best area as other areas in the Dominican Republic have become too "touristy" for me.
The resort was clean and tidy. The food was okay, but the entertainment and drink were brilliant. The staff was polite and friendly to all guests, and seemed very professional.
The next time we come to Luperon, we are staying for three weeks as two weren't enough. I would definitely recommend this resort. |

My boyfriend and I visited diuring the last week of April - first week of May 2004.
We had already read views posted by others, so were fully aware of locals who came into the resort at weekends. They were friendly enough, but just don't get in their way if they are hungry (imagine feeding time at the zoo and you're close!).
Excursions are a must - especially The Outback Safari. It was a real insight into the real lives of local Dominicans. The Catamaran was fun, but it would be best do this the second week, otherwise you'll toast no matter how much sun protection you have on. You may want to take a baggy t-shirt, just to be on the safe side.
Paradise Island was a fantastic island in the middle of nowhere. It was peaceful and exotic. They had great coral reefs for snorklers (if you're not, give it ago anyway - I did and it was amazing).
And finally, definitely see the dolphins. It was not worth the money for only half an hour, but will you ever get the chance again? They were amazingly friendly animals, and we even took our own water camera with us and got loads of pictures.
Bear in mind this would be a third world country if it wasn't for the tourists. Oh, and for all you moaners - it's a couples resort, so of course there are no kids facillities and single young people! |

My boyfriend and I visited the Luperon Beach Resort February 29 until March 7).
We booked the superior room with an ocean view, and it was amazing (Block 12). It consisted of a bedroom with two double beds, a bathroom and a sitting room that had a sofa, two chairs, tables, and the refrigerator. The room was perfect with the exception of the leaky shower, which wasn’t a big deal at all.
The resort itself was absolutely beautiful. The landscape was well groomed and the beach and pool areas were clean as well. I couldn’t have asked for a better resort! The staff was always smiling and was very pleasant at all times. Very few of the staff could speak English, but it was fun for my boyfriend and me to try to speak Spanish to them and they were very pleased that we made the effort.
The food was as expected, definitely not what we were used to, but after all, we weren’t in Canada anymore. We tried mostly everything - but the chicken always did the trick! As for the locals, we didn’t see any and if they were there, they were definitely civil! We met quite a few locals off the resort and they were always friendly to us and always smiling.
My boyfriend and I read quite a few reviews before going to the Luperon Beach. We expected the worst, but found the resort to be much more than we anticipated. We would definitely go back to this resort and plan to do so in the future! |

Luperon Beach offered clean rooms, good food, with nice people Visited: December 2003 |

We were lucky and had a junior suite for the four of us. It was very nice, roomy and very clean.
The restaurants were nice, and the food was okay. The pools were clean, but very cold. The beach was a little dirty, needed cleaning up, but they were doing a lot of restorations. Many of the other guests in other rooms were having a lot of problems, but we were lucky.
The only problem we had was when we rented the ATVs, and that was a scary story. All and all, it was quite pleasant for a three-star resort, it was a little more than what I expected. |

We had an excellent holiday! Visited: December 2003 |

We went to Luperon Beach Resort a little sceptical after reading some of the reviews - especially since we were going to be here over Christmas and New Year and were worried about the bank holidays and the locals. We had nothing to worry about!
The hotel was situated on about a quarter of a mile of beach and was gorgeous. The rooms were a bit tatty and could probably do with a new bathroom suite, but they were just a bit old and definitely not dirty.
We had a couple of room complaints (ie, air conditioning not working properly and not happy with the view from the balcony), and we were immediately given a new room when we brought these issues up.
The food was okay and there was such a huge variety that everyone could find something they liked. A few people were complaining that the food was the same every day, but there was so much variety that this didn't matter.
The staff was so friendly and the Animacion team was fabulous. Again, the evening entertainment could get a bit repetitive but it was still enjoyable.
The only slight problem we had was that, unless you were there at the right time, the towel service wasn't great. But other than that very minor complaint, we had the most fantastic holiday.
If you decide to go to Luperon Beach Resort (or anywhere on the North coast) make sure you go on the Punta Rusia - paradise island trip. It was one of the best days we had there. |

My husband and I went to Luperon Beach Resort for our honeymoon and it was the best holiday we have ever had. People were so friendly - especially the Animacion Team.
As for people saying it was dirty - we never saw anything. The locals did turn up at weekends, but they were there on holiday like everyone else. The food was okay, but not for me as I am fussy. Food at lunch time was great on the beach.
We are hoping to go back next year - that's how much we enjoyed it. We made friends there as well and they enjoyed themselves. We thought the trips were a bit dear, but well worth it. |

Myself and 5 family members have hjust returned from The luperon Beach and Tropical Resort Doninican Republic and would like to let other holidaymakers know what to ecxpect when the stay here. Monday to Friday 2pm is heaven and then Friday2pm-Sunday2pm Is HELL. There is a large influx of locals.
First Week 800
Second Week 1850
They take over everything- Food Swimming pools, Sun loungers. The best place is to go to the beach out of the way. Meal times and at the bar is horrendous. When thy leave they urinate etc in the pools and vomit on the bars and it is best not to swim in the pools for at least 2 dys (this was advice we were given by security guard.
Also lacking in night time entertainment.
Hotel needs full refurbishment and alot of it going on now.
The waiters and staff are very pleasant and friendly and try their best to help you.
To sum it up we would say Monday -Friday 2pm is heaven and then Friday 2pm-Sunday 2pm is hell.
