We stayed at the Flamboyant for six nights, and wish we could have made it longer. In the time we spent here we could only find one thing negative experience.

I would recommend the Flamboyant to any one. When we return to Grenada, we will certainly stay here again.

I have read several reviews of this hotel and agree with the most positive.

Here, you'll find a clean, spacious and comfortable room with a fantastic view. Also, the staff is friendly. The many steps from restaurant and beach to hotel room were a good health challenge, not cumbersome. Besides, they are arranged in flights, and at each "landing" you could pause and admire the near and far views.

We've stayed at other hotels on the Grenada beach before, and cannot remember that any was more satisfactory than the Flamboyant--although they are now more expensive. We hope to visit again soon.

They had a lovely view with friendly staff. The security officer was very courteous at the back gate. Wash cloths were not always replaced, but that is the only complaint.

In addition, if you cannot climb steps, it can be cumbersome.

I highly recommend The Flamboyant.

My partner and I recently stayed at the Flamboyant Hotel and would definitely return on our next stay.

That said, if you are looking for a luxurious five-star property with all the bells and whistles, you will likely be disappointed.

If, however, you are looking for an affordable, friendly, locally-owned and operated hotel with a fantastic view of Grand Anse beach and St. George's Bay, you'll enjoy the Flamboyant.

The major selling point of the hotel is its location on the southern end of Grand Anse. The rooms are not luxurious, but they are spacious, comfortable, clean, and all have views of the beach/bay with balconies.

The service at the hotel is excellent, particularly the hotel manager/owner Lawrence Lambert who will do anything to make your stay comfortable.

As the hotel is close to town and several good restaurants, we didn't opt for the meal plan. We ate breakfast and some lunches here, and the food was good. The service at the beach bar could be slow, but that's the Caribbean pace.

We had several good meals in St. George's, including, "The Beach House" (very good, also the most expensive meal we had there), "Coconut Beach" (you can walk there from the hotel on the beach) and "The Red Crab" (popular with the sailing crowd). We also ate at "The Nutmeg" in town which had a local flavour.

One of the best diving shops, "Dive Grenada" is right next to the hotel on the beach -- they were excellent.

Finally, I noticed that some reviews mentioned the fact that there are numerous steps down to the beach. This didn't particularly strike me when I was here. However, the hotel is on a hill, so if you're older, need a wheelchair, etc., it might be something to consider. It was not a major deal otherwise.

I stayed in the Flamboyant at the beginning of January. It is one of the best located hotels on the island.

It overlooked Grand Anse Beach, but was only a two-minute walk to the shore edge. I couldnt ask for more.

The staff was friendly, and the accommodations were clean and comfortable. What more could a person want?

I very highly recommend it. It is perfect for anyone who enyoys diving, relaxing on the beach, or chilling by the pool.

I am very thankful for the friendly and timely accommodation provided by The Flamboyant Hotel.

My wedding guests and my wife and I switched hotels since our original hotel was so horrible. The Flamboyant was able to provide us all with wonderful rooms and excellent service for the last two nights of our trip (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).

I would definitely stay here again, and I recommend The Flamboyant Hotel to any traveler who visits Grenada.

The location was very beautiful, and the rooms were always very tidy.

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, too.

The only draw back for some might be the hike up the stairs, but I got a better workout here than I do at the gym I pay a monthly fee at! So, to go on a great vacation and come back slimmer and a little more toned was excellent for me!

The Flamboyant was a great hotel at a nice price. It seemed less "plastic" than the bigger resorts, if you know what I mean.

Why spend a lot more money on more expensive hotels with limited views when you can stay at this hotel? This hotel has a magnificent view of St George's Bay and Grand Anse Beach.

The accomodation is comfortable, clean, and meets all my requirements.

The service at the hotel is always first rate, and they will do everything to make your stay very welcoming.

I have now stayed at the hotel twice - once in December 2006 and now again in December 2007. On both occasions I have been treated with helpful, friendly and courteous staff.

I can highly recommend this hotel.

Grande Anse in Grenada is acknowledged as one of the finest stretches of beach in the western hemisphere. It also has the luxury accommodation to match.

At its southern extreme, however, the Flamboyant Hotel and Villas command a magnificent peninsula edge site with sweeping panoramic views across the bay and beyond to the capital St.Georges.

Anyone seeking comfortable three-star self catering this winter - alongside a full range of hotel services, including all inclusive packages - would be hard pressed indeed to better what this place has to offer.

The Flamboyant offers clean, simple air conditioned rooms; cable tv and wi-fi Internet; terraced gardens; restaurant and bars; and a freshwater pool and jacuzzi.

In addition, they have a gym and yoga retreat, while spacious suites and villas have fully equipped kitchens. The lounge bar is currently being relocated to a prime higher level outlook by the pool.

A multitude of steps from the beach up the hillside keeps everyone trim, though a personalized shuttle is available at no extra cost. Evening entertainment is provided, too.

With 68 rooms in all, and 90 full time staff, it's a big operation. However, it is long established and efficiently run by a hands-on manager, Lawrence Lambert, who, with a CBE for services to tourism, obviously knows his stuff.

Free watersports and adjacent Dive Centre are a bonus, but the view defines the Flamboyant and sets it apart. It's a wonderful start to anyone's day.

3.0 stars Flamboyant Hotel, is the "Grande Dame" of Grande Anse! Visited: November 2007
Posted by trueblu
My eight-day stay at the Flamboyant Hotel went a long way to ensuring that my first ever trip to Grenada will not be my last! This property may not be the newest, or trendiest "kid on the block," but it met my needs perfectly.

I have my own "check-list" that probably differs from other travelers. Because I used to work in the hotel business, I am not "fooled" by superficial "glitter, gloss and size," or fancy names for things on restaurant menus.

Instead, I look for:
1. Welcoming, approachable, knowledgeable, helpful staff - no "headgames", please.

2. A comfortable mattress.

3. Cleanliness, cleanliness, cleanliness ... did I mention cleanliness?

4."Safe" location.

5. A kitchenette, if possible - since I like a bit of independence and a feeling of "being at home" in my room.

6. A location with a view; it doesn't have to be right on the beach, but "near enough" would be good!

The Flamboyant delivered on all counts, and at times, really exceeded my expectations.

If you are expecting a grand lobby and lots of "flashy" interior architecture, you will be disappointed. What you do get is a caring staff, active and involved managing director, who goes out of his way to ensure guest satisfaction, and that fabulous view, that I will keep stressing in this review!

Cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner was quite good. It was at least comparable to anywhere else I ate on island. But, the staff went above and beyond for me, when hearing about my food allergies. Their desire to focus on truly Caribbean/Grenadian food was impressive, and they offered to pretty much cook anything I wanted, provided I checked in with them the day before so that they could ensure they had the ingredients!

The pool was pretty standard, but well-maintained and well-utilized by a lot of families with young children. Of course, with a view like the one at the Flamboyant, and the excellent beach just steps away, extra embellishments would simply be a distraction!

Throughout my stay, I got the sense that the Flamboyant staff really worked hard as a team. Yet, they were so laid back, that it hardly seemed possible that their jobs always got done seemlessly.

This tells me they like their jobs and that morale is good. This is a testament to management. Somebody is doing something right over there!

I have just returned from a two-week stay at the Flamboyant Hotel in Grenada.

This hotel must have the best views of Grand Anse Beach of any hotel. Rvery single room haf a view of the bay and St. Georges. Obviously, to give you these views, the rooms are elevated. The hotel is therefore not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.

The restaurant, pool and all facilities were excellent. The rooms were very spacious, well equipped, and clean - all with that magnificent view!

The food was varied and delicious, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

this was a three-star hotel with five-star treatment.

4.0 stars It was a great, relaxing holiday. Visited: June 2006

Having just returned from a truly woderful and relaxing holiday staying at the Flamboyant, we decided to post this review.

We stayed in a standard room, which was large and clean, and the views of Grand Anse Beach and St. Georges were to die for. To relax in bed and see the ocean was brilliant.

We had an all-inclusive package, and it was a great value for our money. Dining options were varied and extensive - from 6:00 am to 3:00 am, if required. Do try the local dishes on offer. We were not disapponited once.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Do remember to chill out, though, as they go at Grenadan pace.

The local bar, the Owl, had a good atmosphere with colorful locals. Don't be put off. Mix, and you'll have a good time. Do use the local bus service. It was cheap and good fun. I suggest you travel back from St. Georges by water taxi to Grand Anse for a change.

For peace and tranquility, turn left out of reception up a slight hill, bear right following signs for Mourne Rouge BBC Beach (approximately a 15-minute) walk. It will be well worth it.

We had a great holiday.

I enjoyed a wonderful holiday here (during the end of May - beginning of June). Our party consisted of four people - two of who celebrated birthday/wedding anniversary. There was a beautiful cake, and champagne for dinner. What a lovely gesture.

The manager (Lawrence) and his staff were so friendly and helpful. They were all keen to tell us about the devastation of Hurricane Ivan. Even the beach sellers would sit and discuss their tragedy with you, even if you hadn't bought anything (well not that day anyway!).

The rooms were light, airy, beautiful and clean. Of course, the view from wherever we were was to die for. The only drawback was the steps from accommodation to beach and back (woe to whoever if you had forgotten anything). It certainly enabled you to get to know everyone because you spent time admiring the view and taking a breather, along with everyone else.

The standard of food was excellent. We had a particularly fussy eater with us, and the chef went out of his way to feed him plain food.

The entertainment was also good, especially the steel band evening, and the strolling calypso guitar player who made up his own songs. The crab racing on Mondays was a laugh - expertly run by the manager. A guy who played the kettle (accompanied) was excellent, too.

My husband also used the diving facilities which were based next door. He enjoyed five dives, which were spread out over the two weeks.

We also took a couple of catamaran trips, and an Island Tour with our own guide. He was exceptional with his knowledge of the history of the island. We all found that extremely interesting. We booked through the Virgin rep., who was very helpful.

We would certainly recommend the Flamboyant. In all, it was a good value for our money. We would love to return.

3.0 stars The Flamboyant is an a brilliant location Visited: May 2006

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at this lovely hotel with its brilliant location. Our room was a superior studio with kitchen facilities - including a microwave, which was necessary for me being a coeliac (i.e. allergic to gluten). I was able to re-fresh my gluten-free bread in the microwave and keep crackers and biscuits in the fridge.

This hotel did have a lot of steps down from the rooms to the dining room and then more steps to the beach (128 from our room). There were several other blocks of rooms higher than ours.
We are in our 50s and relatively fit, and we found it quite tiring walking back up to change for our evening meals.

The hotel staff was very helpful, informative and any requests were dealt with most efficiently. The people of Grenada were most friendly and always smiling. The entertainment was, however, nothing special:- crab racing, a strolling Calypsonian, Steel Band (very good) and karaoke. Also, in 'The Owl' , the late night bar, the "locals" monopolized the pool table.

For all-inclusives, an a la carte dinner was provided three times a week with buffet dinners for the remainder. The latter was just average. Drinks were free between 10:00 am and 11.30 pm, and that was no problem to us. For most of our holiday, the hotel was hardly half-full. There was no problem getting sunloungers and umbrellas or trees for shade.

The Grand Anse Beach was one of the best - it took us about 30 minutes to reach the other end (including stopping and taking photos). At times, it was like having our own private beach.

There was a scuba diving school next door to The Owl Bar, and there was snorkel gear, pedal boats and ocean kayaks available.

The island is still recovering from the effect of Hurricanes Ivan and Emily (approx. two years ago). The nutmeg crop was decimated, and it takes 20 years for one tree to grow and bear nutmegs for production. The island is relying heavily now on tourism and, thankfully it is not commercialized, as yet.

Do beware of the insects - I was bitten every day. The trip to the Grenadines (including a sail in the schooner used in the film 'The Pirates of the Caribbean') was the highlight of our holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Grenada and would recommend the Flamboyant - to hear from your balcony the waves lapping softly onto the lovely sandy shore was just bliss!

3.0 stars They had excellent views! Visited: May 2005

We had a lovely holiday on Grenada, staying at the hotel Flamboyant. Although we are in our fifties and reasonably fit, we both found the 130+ steps from the beach to our room a struggle. We realized quickly we needed to be very organized to ensure we had all we required for the day on the wonderful Anse Beach. If you are in the slightest infirm or unfit, this is not the hotel for you!

The beach and views from our room were to die for. The weather was hot, and the hotel almost always provided towels for beach use as well as free sun beds. There was an outdoor fresh water shower available, along with beach huts for changing. There weren't many umberellas, but quite a few trees to laze under. Swimming was safe and the water was warm. You will meet beach traders - including the wonderful Joyce!

The food was variable, ranging from excellent to mediocre. There was only one small bar at the hotel, which was frequented by not only hotel guests but also the local population (causing a distinct lack of facilities and a strain on staff when busy).

The staff and owner were friendly, and always willing to help. We went with Virgin Holidays (who were great), and our rep., Sabine, was friendly and helpful.

The island has been dessimated by hurricanes Ivan and Emily, and relies heavily on tourism to survive (now having lost the majority of their nutmeg stocks).

Overall, the island is slowly recovering, but still has a way to go.

4.0 stars The staff was wonderful in the face of Hurricane Ivan! Visited: September 2004

We had the bad luck of spending our vacation in the mist of Hurricane Ivan. Luckily for us, we were at the Flamboyant. The staff went over and above the call of duty to make sure that we were safe during the hurricane.

The hotel had sustained damage from the hurricane, but the staff made sure that the guests were as well tended as could be during and after the hurricane. Even during the hurricane, they came to the rooms to see how we were faring.

We look forward to visiting again after the clean-up. Thanks to all.

I can't say much more than the other reviewers here:
- yes, the view was really fantastic
- yes, the food was great
- yes, it was a good value
- yes, the weather was hot and sunny
- yes, the hotel was good

We came to the Flamboyant Hotel for our honeymoon and got just what we were looking for from our stay, a nice relaxing time with a little bit of adventure on the side.

We chose Grenada because it was not one of the more common destinations (i.e. not as well known as Jamaica or Barbados). We thought this would be perfect for a lazy time on the beach and by the pool and we were right. Along with the mountains and parks for some good sight seeing, it was a perfect honeymoon.

The hotel itself offered all we could need with all the basic facilities in place, good food, great staff, a nice deep 10' pool (with a shallow end, too). And a real effort was made to keep guests entertained in the evening and during the day with a dive center located on site.

The honeymoon package was good, we were greeted with flowers and champagne on arrival. I booked via e-mail, having found the website and agreed terms before I booked.

Part of this (as indicated on the web site) was that honeymooners would get breakfast each day. The first day, we were charged for breakfast as the paperwork behind reception didn't seem to match the website. When we queried this and displayed the website to hotel reception staff, they agreed and we were given breakfast as arranged with no quibble from staff and no problems at all - very well sorted out!

Grenada itself was excellent for lazing on beaches, we would definitely recommend checking out a few other beaches in addition to Grand Anse, although this was probably the best of them. Everyone in Grenada seemed to have the ability to provide a tour or taxi service wherever we went.

But, to avoid being overcharged because we were tourists, we found it better value, easier, and more comfortable to get our own transport. So we rented a 4 x 4 for a week (you'll probably want a 4x4 if you're doing any serious driving in Grenada, the roads were not as good as they could be).

The one thing we were disappointed by with our ability to move around well with a car, was the lack of walking provided by the island. There were many treking paths, but most were inaccessible to all but the most hardcore of walkers, and we consider ourselves to be pretty decent walkers!

In summary, we would say the hotel was good, the island was excellent for beach dwellers. However, for walkers consider somewhere else.

We stayed in a deluxe hotel room which had a balcony with fantastic views over Grand Anse Bay and St. Georges.

We had a good sized room with a minibar/fridge and kettle. The hotel had own desalination plant and we had piping hot water at all times with lots of pressure for the shower. It was a very clean and comfortable room.

The staff was generally friendly and helpful at all times.

There were lots of steps in the accommodation blocks (we were on third floor) and down to pool and restaurant. It will keep you fit.

There were 60 rooms, but many people must have gone self catering, as the restaurant was fairly quiet. And beach amenities were always available.

There were not many families here, probably because of the steps, which was just what we wanted!

Wednesday and Monday cruise liners docked in St. Georges which limited available tours on these days and some ended up visiting the beach for lunch.

We went all-inclusive ($65 per day each). There were excellent beach views from Terrace restaurant. The food was very well prepared, but with a limited choice if you stay longer than a week. Breakfast was buffet, and lunch and dinner were a la carte. Good local food was available on the menu which was very worth sampling.

There were usual beach traders trying to sell their wares, which became a bit of a nuisance after a while, but you just had to say no.

The beach was excellent and the water was warm and safe for swimming.

We were very impressed by the bus/taxi service which was very frequent, friendly and cheap. As we walked the streets they beeped us to see if we wanted the bus and would stop anywhere. There were also proper bus stops.

We can strongly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I recently returned from a glorious holiday in “The Isle of Spice” Grenada. Over the years we have visited our fair share of islands, big and small and we must say that Grenada has definitely been one of our better trips.

What made this trip so good was by far the friendliness of Grenadians and more specifically the staff at The Flamboyant Hotel. We found this hotel through your website and got to experience firsthand the warmth that everyone has been gushing about.

All of our needs and expectations were not only met, but also surpassed by far. The view was unarguably the best in the Grande Anse Bay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food at the restaurant was superb. And most importantly, the exotic cocktails at the beach bar ensured that we were a permanent fixture there.

Special mention must be made of Keniva (I hope I am spelling her name correctly) our bartendress and Annette, our informative housekeeper, who made choosing between all of the different sightseeing options much easier.

We will definitely visit this island again and stay at this first class resort.

5.0 stars This place is Paradise on earth! Visited: September 2003

If you are talking about Paradise, Flamboyant Hotel is it! I stayed at the Flamboyant from September 11th to 15th, 2003 in the Merenque block.

The view from the room was too magnificent. I stood on my balcony and looked over at the entire Grand Anse Beach, the city/harbour of St. George and the ocean, all in one look. That was priceless!

The restaurant was basked in fine colours with the food and cocktails so delicious that I had to keep going back for more. We got a free cocktail every time we bought one at Happy Hour (5-7 pm) and I could not help myself.

I had to hike down some stairs to the restaurant which was like exercise to me, but the view from the room compensated for it. The ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant was breathtaking. How did Flamboyant get such a precious spot for their property, I have no idea!

Sitting on the lounge on the swimming pool was like being in heaven with a great view. I am telling everybody, including my family, Flamboyant is the place to go for a unforgetable vacation. The rooms are so nice and the staff is so friendly - especially Shelly and Alston at the restaurant, and Emelda in the houskeeping department.

I couldn't have asked for better holiday. It's a pity it was just four days, but I am going back there in the next two months - this time for a much longer stay.
