Our Flamboyant Hotel rooms were lovely, and the hotel amenities were first rate. We look forward to our next stay at Flamboyant!

5.0 stars This was truly a "home away from home". Visited: September 2003

The view alone will make you never want to leave your hotel room. They certainly didn’t lie when they said “The best view on Grand Anse Beach”.

When my wife and I finally managed to pry ourselves away from the balcony, we were greeted with the most flavorful rum punches and exquisite Caribbean and International dishes at the in-house restaurant (Beachside Terrace Restaurant and Bar). Thumbs up to our favorite Grenadian bartender Stephen, and the Chef my wife wanted to take home with her, Andre.

We would definitely do it again and recommend it to any travelers who truly want to feel like they are at a home away from home.

5.0 stars This was a great family-oriented vacation. Visited: September 2003

From the manager - Lawrence, right down to Anderson, the porter who brought our bags down, my family and I met the most friendly, hospitable people ever.

The Flamboyant Hotel really made our trip worth it. Yes, there were stairs, but if we didn’t have the stairs we wouldn’t have had the captivating view. There was a shuttle service but none of us bothered to use it, we had to find away to work off those sumptuous meals.

Our cottage had a fully equipped kitchen, and the front desk staff was kind enough to arrange for sugar and cream for our coffee, the only meal that we prepared.

The main highlight was unarguably the Monday night Rum Punch party and the crab races that followed. A close second was the fire-eating and limbo show at the Friday night BBQ.

We are already making plans for next year and are looking forward to seeing Lawrence and the gang again.

5.0 stars It is out if this world.. fantastic view and great staff. Visited: August 2003

Having stayed at the Flamboyant five years ago, my husband and I were pleasantly surprised at all the improvements and new rooms added. We especially liked the addition of a new van to transport the guests to their rooms, and to the restaurant and beach if one requires it. What a thoughtful idea!

Most of the staff we recognized, and we were surprised they recognized us from five years ago. They were all so very helpful and friendly.

The food was simply delicious and tasty with a Caribbean flare. I believe the new chef has put an added touch.

Our room was always spotless, thanks to the maid who was assigned to our room. She was also very pleasant and very helpful in suggesting places of interest we might visit.

We will certainly recommend the Flamboyant to all our friends.

3.0 stars What a fantastic place for a honeymoon! Visited: August 2003

This was my second visit and chose to come here for our honeymoon. What a surprising reception when Gillian, at Reception, recognized me from two years ago..and even more surprising was the the bottle of champagne in our room with a congratulatory card.

I won't hesitate (and I am sure my husband won't either) to recommend Flamboyant for its genuine hospitality, clean rooms friendly staff and most of all, the relaxation we had on the beach.

The management introduced a very colorful van to transport guests to and from the restaurant and the beach. This was great for guests with mobility problems.

I couldn't help but notice how much the management and staff went out of their way to make all their guests feel at home.

We just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Flamboyant Hotel. The provided excellent food and the steelband music was great for dancing.

The management and staff were friendly and helpful.

It was a great idea to begin offering the van to transport guests to and from the restaurant.

I will not hesitate to recommend the Flamboyant to all my friends.

4.0 stars The most picturesque place to be on the island. Visited: August 2003

Having stayed at the Flamboyant for the past four years, we decided there was no better place to spend our 20th wedding anniversary.

We mentioned very casually to Sherrin, the front desk clerk, that it was our anniversary and what a surprise.. we received champagne, flowers and a cake. What an added touch.. this simply made this visit the best we ever had.

Another great added touch was a van to transport guests and their luggage to their rooms and up and down to the beach or the restaurant if one required.

We will certainly tell everyone we know that the Flamboyant is the best place to be for a relaxing vacation with its super friendly management and staff and super clean rooms.

2.0 stars Below our expectations! Visited: August 2003
Posted by cadams
My family and I stayed 9 days at the Flamboyant in a 2-bedroom cottage with a panoramic view of Grande Anse Bay. However, the accommodation provided was below expectation. This hotel sits high on top a hill and to reach our accommodation posed a daily challenge. It was 46 stairs to get to the road (still on top a hill) from our accommodation and this did not include the 2 inclines to get to these stairs. To get to the beach (from the road on top the hill) we also counted an additional 81 stairs (these were not regular stairs!) Doing this on a sunny day was hell! Imagine when we had to carry groceries from Spice Land mall (located at the bottom of the hill) to the top of hill, then 46 stairs and 2 inclines to our cottage. It was double hell even for someone like me who work out regularly. The day we arrived, the hotel had just received a new van to carry guests and/or luggage to rooms. We were the first to use it. However, the next time we were able to take advantage of this vehicle was the day we were leaving - had to get luggage down the hill where our taxi was waiting. The ventilation within this cottage was inadequate. (I did catch a severe cold due to the room setup and as I write this review I'm still hoarse.) The bedrooms were air conditioned, but the living and dining rooms were not and were equipped with sheet glass and french doors instead of screened windows. The kitchen had no fan. As a result, the french doors had to be left open and caused flies, mosquitoes, ants, wasps, and lizards to get into the cottage. The ceiling fan was inadequate and provided no relief. Ants and flies were constantly on the dining table and it was very annoying. The broken appliances (Microwave and Iron)had to be replaced. The hotel also ran out of face towels. Never had this experience while staying at other Caribbean hotels! Also, the towels did not smell fresh! Another problem was not getting our phone messages from the front desk. One party who called us had to insist it was an emergency before any attempt was made by the front desk to locate us. The mini bar in the fridge was for our convenience. However prices for the items were prohibitive. For example, one 5 3/4 can of Pringles CheeUms was $13.00 EC and a 1.5L spring water $9.00 EC. ($1 US = $2.67 EC (Eastern Caribbean)). Of course there's an additional 10% service charge and 8% government tax to be applied to the prices listed above. We found Sherine (at the front desk) and Beverly (the cleaning person) to be friendly and helpful. However, it's unlikely that we would return to this hotel and would be reluctant to recommend it to our family and friends.

5.0 stars We went for a week and stayed for ten months. Visited: June 2003
Posted by lrdolwig
For our honeymoon, we decided to take ten months and travel wherever we wanted. We started in Grenada, looked at four hotels when we landed, chose the Flamboyant and never left.

The more people we talked to, the more we heard the same thing - "nowhere is more beautiful, untouched and unspoiled than Grenada and their greatest resouce is their people, so kind, friendly, respectful and unspoiled";

While here, we looked at every resort, villa and rental on the island. None could match the Flamboyant. The management was top notch and from the beginning, they and the staff made us feel like one of the family. All our needs were met all the time, yet they were never intrusive.

The Flamboyant had facilities from a room or studios to one- and two-bedroom suites (where we stayed). The view was incredible on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. To be on the beach and have such a view, you do have to walk the stairs.

1.0 stars Not up to standards. Visited: March 2003
Posted by kstergar
My friend and I just returned from a week at the Flamboyant. We arrived at night, therefore it was hard to tell what the hotel really looked like from the outside. We checked-in and were escorted up 50, yes I said 50, steps to our standard room (there are no elevators). Mind you these are not the normal-sized rise and tread of regular steps. Our individual single (not double) beds were pushed together and there was not very much extra space in the room. The bathroom, although functional, was very small and not in the best shape. We didn't have a problem with the noise from the street, probably because we were so far up the hill, but we did have a problem with the loud air conditioning unit, which would wake us up every time it clicked on.

We explored the rest of the hotel in the daylight. We hiked down the 50 steps to the street and then discovered it was another 90 steps to the beach. I am not exaggerating either. We counted them. The beach was very nice and clean and had plenty of chairs.

We decided not to eat at the hotel's restaurants, as they never seemed to be very organized. There were always 5-10 workers standing around talking loudly. They would start to set up in the morning and it would take 5 people 2 hours to put a table skirt on a table. Meanwhile, if you are trying to have a nice quiet time by the pool, you can't because of their loud conversations. We found that very rude and annoying. I would suggest you not wait until you are starving to go eat, as it will probably take an hour for your food to arrive.

Overall, if you are looking for a cheap place to sleep and do not intend on spending much time in the room or at the restaurant then the Flamboyant was the most affordable. I would strongly suggest that you not get the all-inclusive package and visit some of the other restaurants on the island. There are several good ones of which are within walking distance of the Flamboyant.

We have just returned from a most memorable holiday at the Flamboyant Hotel , on Grand Anse Beach, in Grenada.

We had a lovely clean room, the staff was very helpful and friendly, the food was delicious and varied, topped off with great cocktails.

We absolutely loved Grenada, and would definitely return as soon as we can. Thank you, Flamboyant, for a most enjoyable holiday.

2.0 stars This is not like the other reviews on this hotel. Visited: December 2002
Posted by mooremt
If you are on a tight budget and dying to go to Grenada, the Flamboyant Hotel may be for you. We stayed here in late December 2002.

Regarding the rooms, we tried several because of the noise. What the pictures and guide books didn’t show was that the roadway was right in-between the units, pool, restaurant, and beach. The traffic generated considerable noise if you are a light sleeper.

Regarding the view, although the hotel had a good view of the bay, no matter which unit you stay in there are power lines that “cut” through your panoramic view.

The cuisine was very good, however, the service was extremely slow and not terribly warm or friendly (not unlike the rest of the island).

Grenada was mildly interesting to see once, but we won’t be back to the Flamboyant.

4.0 stars Offers a good value. Visited: May 2002
Posted by pandj
This is my second time here and certainly not my last. This is certainly a very private, relaxing place with all the basic amenities for the traveler.

The Flamboyant's location and ambience lend themselves to a very laid back, stress-relieving vacation. The offer great views, beautiful gardens and access to two of the best beaches in the world, Grand Anse and the even better Morne Rouge Bay.

The only drawback for the physically impaired is the climb from the beach, restaurant and pool area to the rooms, but it improves your fitness if so inclined. The Flamboyant is best enjoyed in the off-peak seasons. I have and will continue to recommend this hotel.

4.0 stars A great place to escape. Visited: April 2002
Posted by pcoles
This hotel offered an excellent opportunity to relax and escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very helpful and pleasant.

The view from our room was fantastic and the food was very good. On the downside, it was not very luxurious, but had a lot of character and was well priced. Grenada was an excellent hideaway.

4.0 stars Best value on the best beach. Visited: April 2001

The Flamboyant is an older hotel, but is very clean, comfortable and has fantastic views of Grand Anse and St. Georges. The rooms are large, too. We had a kitchenette with a range/oven, icebox, toaster, coffeemaker, blender—all the essentials.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was average, but had excellent rotis. Lots of steps from the rooms to the restaurant, pool and beach, but after a week we were in better shape!

For the money, this hotel is hard to beat on Grand Anse Beach. We would highly recommend.

4.0 stars Quiet, comfortable and a beautiful view. Visited: January 2001
Posted by jhope74
We've enjoyed a studio room at this hotel two years in a row. There are stunning views of the beach/ocean from the private balcony. The rooms are not opulent, but very clean and comfortable.

It’s a long walk down the stairs to the beach, but we thought this was a fair trade-off for a sense of privacy. This good value spot is quiet at the end of the main beach, but still within a reasonable distance of the amenities.
