2.0 stars A traditional colonial estate house. Visited: July 2003

Morne Fendue Estate has welcomed our family many times and contributed to wonderful holidays in Grenada. Previously owned by Mrs. Betty Mascoll, a family friend, the house has a lived-in feel.

Friendly local staff provide great Caribbean food and their local knowlege is useful. Having only a handful of rooms, Morne Fendue offers a pleasent and tranquil setting. If staying for a few nights, a car is recommended. There are two beaches within 15-20 minutes from the house, Bathway and Levera.

This is just the place that you would design if you had the chance. It is quiet, restful, and best of all, no children. Its a very comfortable place.

The grounds are kept immaculate. The owners are friendly but not intrusive. We found little reason to leave the hotel, because the best food on the island was cooked by our housekeeper in our kitchen.

We have been twice now, and plan to return every other year for many years to come. We plan to include our grown sons next time. The hotel guests seem to be primarily repeats, attesting to the graciousness of the hosts.

When, I need a break from my day, I close my eyes and then I'm sitting at the end of the long dock with a glass of wine, watching the sunset with the other guests.

A word of caution: if your idea of a Caribbean vacation includes a swim-up bar, a noisy bar band and bronzed magazine cover bodies, try another hotel. 12 Degrees North is definitely a gentler vacation destination.
