This was the epitomy of an island paradise. Visited: July 2006

I felt compelled to write about my recent visit to Bel Air Plantation after I read so many wonderful reviews on Wheretostay.com.

Wow! The people who have stayed here cannot say enough about how fantastic it is! And I know firsthand, as Susan Fisher (the owner) and I go back many years in a one-of-a-kind friendship that has spanned 41 years.

This was my fourth visit to this lovely, quaint and not commercialized island. Susan and her staff treats everyone like they are very special, and can't do enough for you. That, I think, is what makes this island so different. When you come onto Bel Air Planation, you feel like you have been transported to a magical place.

The scenery is exquisite, and the service is impeccable. In fact, the staff can't do enough to fill your every need or want. I have no desire to ever visit any other island. Bel Air Plantation will be my dream vacation for years to come!

This was a world-class resort - wow! Visited: July 2006

Three family members from New Jersey and one from Holland had a fantastic holiday at the Bel Air Plantation this past July.

Bel Air Plantation was georgeous in every way. The management, grounds, accommodations, infinity pool, view, restaurant cuisine, service, etc. - could not have been any better.

Our villa had all the amenities one could ask for, and we relaxed in the morning with our cup of coffee overlooking the bay.

We loved the infinity pool, and enjoyed food and drinks pool side. The staff at Bel Air pampered to our every whim. There was also a lovely beach in close proximity to Bel Air.

The Water's Edge Restaurant had a varied menu. The food and service was excellent. We had most of our meals in the restaurant, and found the variety in cuisine most pleasing. We also had some of our meals in our villa, which had all of the comforts of home.

Susan, the owner, has created a paradise! Although hurricane Ivan impacted many of the resorts on the island, Bel Air Plantation was spared.

I recommend Bel Air to singles, couples, families and groups who want to "get away from it all".

Bel Air is amazing! Visited: June 2006

We arrived in Grenada on Saturday, 6/17 on the American Eagle flight to the island. Our driver, Donald, was right there waiting for us, and he whisked us away to Bel Air Plantation Resort.

We arrived at Bel Air and met Rhona, the assistant manager, whom I have e-mailed with and spoken to numerous times during the last 18 months of wedding planning. It was like meeting an old friend.

She provided us with our villa key and a cell phone to use while we were staying at the resort. What a nice touch. She then showed us to our villa, a one-bedroom home. It was absolutely gorgeous!

The villa had a nice size living room, a dining area, and a full kitchen. The bedroom was the perfect size, and the bathroom had a very large Jacuzzi tub and huge shower. It was extremely comfortable. We could have stayed there forever – it had everything we would ever need!

The wedding was fabulous. It went very smoothly thanks to Rhona’s organization and planning. When we arrived at LaSagesse Nature Center, the last of the beachgoers were leaving – making the beautiful beach completely our own. We had a cocktail reception at Bel Air’s grassy jetty area following the ceremony – which was a lot of fun.

Dinner at Bel Air’s Water’s Edge was outstanding. I had sent a table runner, and some fabric for chair sashes, a few decorations, as well as candles, votive holders and candleholders. Oh my goodness – the table looked gorgeous! The chair sashes were not needed, so they were used to decorate the cake table. Rhona and Susan (the owner) spent the afternoon decorating (and kept us away so we couldn’t peek). Truly, they did an outstanding job.

The food was delicious and presentation was outstanding. We ended the evening with a steel drum band, and that was lots of fun! We had paid for a “small” band and ended up with a 12-piece pan extravaganza! Dancing was the perfect way to end a great evening.

We only had eight guests, and they all loved Bel Air, and our Grenada trip as much as my now husband and me. It was sad to leave the property, and even though we went off to another Caribbean adventure - we toyed with the idea of going back to Bel Air for a few days before returning home. We will absolutely be back to this resort - it was perfection!

We'll never forget Bel Air Plantation! Visited: June 2006

We've just returned from a wonderful time of sharing with family and friends on the island of Grenada. The big draw to the island was the wedding day of our nephew, Jon; and our new niece, Monika. However, we enjoyed many other wonderful days and nights while staying at Bel Air Plantation.

The resort was outstanding, beginning with the professional staff: Rhona, Kathy, all the servers and housekeeping. We all miss their warm smiles and generous spirit.

The accommodations were comfortable and pleasing to the eye. The foods at the restaurant and all meals served to our group were well prepared, pleasingly plated and delicious.

Bel Air Plantation was a great destination designed to please its guests in every way. We were fortunate to have spent time here not only with our own family and friends, but in the company of the new friends we made at the resort as well - the staff! Thanks for the memories.

It is laid back - with luxury. Visited: February 2005

What hurricane? It was difficult to find any evidence of it here at Bel Air.

I can't stress enough how fantastic the management and staff were at Bel Air. From the moment I stepped out of the car to the moment I left for home, it was the most comfortable vacation I have had in many years.

The housekeeping staff was guided by Cathy, a non-stop wonder woman. This resort was clean - no it was super-clean - everywhere. There was nothing I couldn't ask for, and when I did, it magically appeared that day. The front office happily arranged activities guests wished to do.

I loved the beautifully appointed villa. Many times I relaxed on the full length veranda while listening to soft music playing, overlooking partially hidden villas and cottages. While watching sailing yachts rocking at anchor in the harbour with a fresh cup of steaming hot coffee, I was treated to a fantastic sunrise rising over the hill behind. It was serene. What more could I ask for?

Being pampered here was very real. The plump towels - even the Pear's soap was top quality. Luxurious cushions were placed all around the villa. The fridge had been stocked with fresh baked bread and all kinds of other goodies. Everything was tops here - including the most comfortable bed I can remember.

I ate many meals in the Water's Edge Restaurant. It had all the ambience expected of a top hotel. That was great in itself. Then I ordered my first meal, which was served professionally, looked great, and tasted even better. The sunsets over the harbour were magnificent.

Susan Fisher, the owner, came over and asked me to join her and some friends for a drink after dinner. I instantly enjoyed the positive, friendly personality that was obvious in this lady. Susan couldn't have been more gracious and natural.

The guests and staff turned out to be a really nice group of people. That was really fantastic; a five star resort with people who are totally laid back and really care. The barman, David, and the waitresses were eager to please without being intrusive. Everything here was aimed for complete relaxation with special service.

There was a lounge over the restaurant, and the resort sported a store where guests could buy snacks or groceries at the same prices as in town. If the store in Bel Air didn't have what you wanted, they would get it for you on the next trip to the market. Now that's special service.

I saved the best for last. On more than a few evenings, I would step into the large jacuzzi and soak in relaxing comfort for about an hour. A cool drink and the soothing hot bath capped off the day perfectly, and made for a restful sleep afterward.

I will return to this Eden many more times.

It was even better than we expected, and we had high expectations! Visited: February 2005

We just returned from a glorious week in Grenada at Bel Air Plantation! We had read the reviews here and on other travel sites prior to booking and were filled with the anticipation of spending a week in total comfort and escaping the "world". Our dream of an idyllic vacation came true in every sense.

After a long trip we were tired and hoped the resort would live up to our expectations. From the moment we arrived, all of our anxieties disappeared and we knew we had chosen well.

It is hard to describe this oasis and do it justice but I will try. The villas were beautiful, comfortable, spacious and romantic. Each was different from the other and loaded with charm (we toured several with the owners).

The grounds were filled with magnificent tropical plants and the restaurant served wonderful food. Many hotels had the all amenities offered here, but few captured the essence and character of the Caribbean - Bel Air Plantation did.

The first evening we ventured down to the restaurant to find several groups of people enjoying a drink at the bar. Among them were the owners and several people from the neigbouring boat yard. We were immediately welcomed and engaged in wonderful colorful conversations. Within minutes, we felt like we had known these people forever and this feeling continued for our entire stay.

I have found from prior holidays that you generally have the helpful and courteous staff on hand, but this was different. People here had a genuine interest in getting to know guests and were certainly lots of fun to spend time with.

The owners were very hands-on and they, along with the regular patrons and friends, knew when to include guests in the goings on and when to let us enjoy the private relaxing holiday we deserved. It was such a refreshingly wonderful experience.

As said, the resort was beautiful and comparable to any world class establishment, but the people were what made the real difference for us.

We just returned from a week at Bel Air Plantation in Grenada. I wish it could have been a longer stay as we had such a wonderfully relaxing holiday.

The villa we stayed in overlooked the sea and the pool, and was perfect in every sense. It was beautifully appointed, spacious and had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.

The staff was great, especially Sandra who attended to our every wish.

There was an on site grocery store which was a real bonus as we could pick up drinks, snacks and breakfast supplies to stock in the villa (even homemade bread baked daily).

The Caribbean is not known for great food, but I must say that the restaurant at Bel Air Plantation was outstanding. The atmosphere, service and food all exceeded our expectations.

We have already planned to visit again next year, I just wish it was next week!

This is Grenada's best kept secret! Visited: November 2004

My husband and I just spent a wonderful vacation at Bel Air Plantation. Despite the recent hurricane, the resort was fully functioning and looked as if nothing had happened in terms of hurricane damage. Even the grounds were in great condition. Some of the trees looked a bit damaged, but virtually everything else was green and lush.

This was a real gem of a resort! It was upmarket, but very friendly and comfortable. The accommodations were superb, beautifully appointed and very private. We booked a cottage and were upgraded to a villa upon arrival. What a wonderful surprise!

I can't say enough about the staff! Each was efficient, friendly and very proud of the resort and island.

It was a wonderfully relaxing vacation and we thoroughly enjoyed the resort and island.

Despite the recent hurricane, I would encourage people to visit the island and I would highly recommend this resort. There was evidence of the hurricane throughout the island, but many restaurants and other tourist businesses were open. Many of the locals expressed to us the need for tourism now more than ever and I can certainly understand why.

My husband and I have just returned from our honeymoon at Bel Air Plantation. We plan on returning for our first anniversary which more than says how much we enjoyed it!

The accommodations were beautiful, spacious and very, very private. Each was an individual house and they really were houses. The decor was lovely, with four poster beds, comfortable sofas and chairs, magnificent bathrooms and wonderful original artwork.

Ours had a full kitchen which was terrific for preparing light breakfasts and snacks, etc. It was also great to be able to return to the villa, open the fridge and have a nice cold drink waiting for us. We actually cooked a dinner since we both love to cook and wanted to try our hand with local ingredients. The chef gave us a local recipe and helped us get the ingredients. It was lots of fun and turned out to be really good.

Other than that we had most of our meals in the resort restaurant. It was just fantastic! We live in New York and are lucky to have some of the best restaurants at our doorstep. The Water's Edge at Bel Air was right up there with the best NY restaurants. The cuisine was mostly Caribbean in style, but with a more contemporary flair. The chef was a delight. He came to our table most nights to either tell us about his specials or ask how we enjoyed our meals. It was really very personalized service, but not invasive.

The resort setting was as about as Caribbean as it gets. It teemed with beautiful flowers and the place had a very natural feel to it. The views from almost every part of the resort were breathtaking. From our villa we had views of the harbor, sea and mountains. There was a spit of land at one end of the resort which had the most incredible views of the sea, peninsulas, bays and mountains. There was truly something to see from every angle.

As said, the villa, restaurant and setting were all special but what really set this place apart was the service. Every employee we encountered was friendly, efficent and helpful. We felt like some had become friends by the time we left.

Staying at Bel Air Plantation was the perfect combination of total privacy and interaction with other guests and the staff. It allowed us the opportunity to hide out for a day in a lovely accommodation or socalize if we chose.

Grenada and Bel Air Plantation are as near to perfection as it gets.

This was a real gem! Visited: April 2004

We found Bel Air Plantation on WheretoStay.com and have just returned from a wonderful seven days at the resort.

This small and charming resort was a real gem. From the moment we arrived in Grenada, we knew it was going to be really special. We were quickly greeted at the airport by the resort's driver, Cuttie, who was a lovely man. The trip from the airport was actually fun! He chatted with us and pointed out spots of interest along the route.

When we arrived at Bel Air Plantation, Sandra welcomed us and we were given a delicious tropical punch. Check-in took less than two minutes and we were taken to our villa.

The villa was just incredible and was just like entering someone's home. There were beautiful furnishings and decor, but it was very cozy. As someone else reported, the beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in.

After a swim in the pool and a bit of a rest, we ventured to the restaurant for dinner. The setting was lovely. It was right on the water and open air. Upstairs was a lounge which had a deck overlooking the sea and resort. The service was really good, efficient and quick, but the real standout was the food. The chef, Craig, was truly a star. We enjoyed some of the best meals I can ever remember. He also made a point of visiting each table and getting to know the guests.

The rest of our stay at Bel Air Plantation was exactly what we wanted - restful and rejuvenating. The magnificent setting, lovely accommodations and delightful staff made it all we could have hoped for.

If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind, enjoy wonderful meals, yet have privacy when you want it, in a romantic and truly special setting - this is it.

This was a superb intimate location. Visited: January 2004

My husband and parents came to Bel Air Plantation for a one-week vacation. We've come to Grenada for the past seven years, so we were hesitant to try a new location.

We were absolutely thrilled. The service (owners and staff) were superb. Sandra (who helped run the establishment) and Cuttie (driver) were wonderful and had numerous tips and suggestions to make our vacation special. Both made us feel at home and were very accommodating.

The food was superb -- the best we've had in the Caribbean and the prices were very reasonable. The villas were luxurious, but not pretentious. We felt pampered the entire time but never felt "stuffy".

All in all, it was a very relaxing, low key, yet high class establishment. We plan to return again this year because we had such a wonderful time.

We had a wonderful one-week stay at Bel Air Plantation in January 2004.

The villas were perfect --spacious, immaculate and luxurious without feeling pretentious. The resort was small and intimate -- perfect for a relaxing Caribbean vacation. The owner and staff literally catered to us, and the food was the best we had on the island.

While the accommodations and food were outstanding, the people we met made our vacation special. The owner and her family were on-hand 24/7 to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. Sandra greeted us and helped run the establishment, and Cuttie, the driver, sprinkled each ride with facts about the island and pointed out sites of interest.

We are looking forward to seeing them again in the near future.

My husband and I have just come home from a very special holiday at Bel Air Plantation. We were looking for a small, intimate yet elegant resort and did we ever find it.

What set the resort apart was that we really knew we were in the Caribbean. This was not a stock, "block of rooms" place. The villas were lovely individual homes all painted in cheery colors and very private.

From the moment we arrived we were pampered by the staff. At check-in we were served a fruit punch and then whisked away to our villa. In the villa we found all sorts of fruits and they had even stocked our fridge with drinks and snacks!

All the services and the facilities were top notch. For a small place, they had lots to offer. The restaurant was wonderful and the pool was just brilliant.

We will be back!

I had the pleasure of staying at Bel Air Plantation just a few weeks ago. It is a new property and they were just completing the finishing touches, but never the less -it was just incredible.

The villas were gorgeous, spacious and private, and the grounds were magnificent. The location was spectacular and the staff was very accommodating and attentive (but not intrusive). The restaurant was one of the best I have encountered in the Caribbean.

I would highly recommend this resort to those who want to get away from it all.
