The Gem is a wonderful vacation spot to relax. The location is perfect and the scenery is ideal. The staff is pleasant and always willing to help. Management is exceptional and makes you feel at home.
The Gem is perfect for vacationers looking for everything in a vacation. With the help of Manager, Julia Moore, your vacation would be a worthwhile one.
The apartment is always kept clean, with all the necessities that would be needed. Maid service keeps the apartment clean daily, and is always ready to help in other ways.
Restaurant and bar staff are friendly and prepares such lovely meals and drinks to your taste.
Overall, the Gem is a great vacation home, and the management and staff do make you feel welcome. I am happy to say that I am looking forward to my next trip. |

What a joy it was to stay at the Gem Beach apartments once again. the staff got to know our names very quickly and used it, which made us feel part of one big happy family.
From the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble. And all the staff - from Julia, the manager and the bar staff to the wonderful maids and the Cricket team - they never stopped smilling and were so helpful. Although, you could say that about the whole island.
The location was fantastic - situated right on the beach and no through road, so there was no traffic noise. The bar and restaurant were positioned to maximize the view which was to the west, so as to get the free beautiful sunset show each night which was breathtaking.
We helped to organize two games of beach Cricket, guests verses the staf. It wasf followed on both occasions by a barbeque on the beach. Those were two evenings we will never forget. At which other hotel could you find bar staff, office staff, management gardeners, DJs, etc. having such great fun? They had a great team spirit and it showed.
If you are looking for five-star luxury, don't go to the Gem. But if you are looking for a hideaway, go to Gem. And if you are looking for friendly, respectful staff, and if you want to experience the true Caribbean, go to Gem. Enjoy! |

Staying here is like going home. Visited: January 2004 |

My wife and I have just returned from our third visit to Grenada and have stayed at the Gem all three times.
Julia and her staff are always friendly and helpful. They make us feel more like long time friends returning home than visitors.
The rooms are always clean and bright, and the kitchen will allow you to cook all the meals you wish. If you would rather not cook, try the delicious food served at Sur La Mur, we really liked the lambi (conch).
Be sure not to miss the sunset at Morne Rouge beach, it's one of the best.
The Gem truly is a gem and we will be there for our fourth trip to Grenada. |

We experienced an ideal hideaway vacation. Visited: August 2003 |

Gem Beach Resort was an ideal getaway for peace and relaxation. Both interior and exterior were beautifully arranged. The scenery was magnificent overlooking the ocean with its white sandy, blue and calm beach. Restaurant meals were delicious, but my favorite breakfast was the Grenadian style, and lunch/dinner was the lambie meal.
The housekeeping staff was well organized with the daily cleaning of the apartment, not forgetting the fresh flowers to brighten my day. I found the front office staff to be helpful and pleasant, always with a ready smile and willing to assist me whenever the need arose.
My praise goes to the general manager, Ms. Julia Moore, for her professionalism with handling complicated situations in such a calm manner. From my arrival to my departure, I was treated with heartfelt courtesy, which made this trip a memorable and pleasant one.
Overall, I would say that Gem is certainly that jewel in the rock. Whether it's for business or pleasure, first seek the Gem where you will find the tranquility of relaxation. |

It was a nice beach, but a horrible hotel. Visited: May 2003 |

We left after one night, paid a two-night penalty, and went elsewhere. It seemed like the kind of cheap hotel that would make your newlywed bride break into tears.
The hot water didn't work, and the manager asked us why we didn't call -- it was because the phone didn't work either! Also, the restaurant served frozen fish.
This resort seemed more like cheap apartments rather than a hotel. We enjoyed a different hotel on Grenada for the rest of the week. |

What a delightful stay! Visited: May 2003 |

Our flight arrived late and we checked into the Gem at about 10:45 p.m. The office was open until 11:30 p.m. We were courteously greeted and personally escorted to our rooms.
The rooms were air conditioned - a new unit - and were very comfortable. We found the bed mattresses especially comfortable. Our patio became our second home with a beautiful view of Morne Rouge Bay.
The beach was a one-minute walk across the restaurant and club parking lot. The club operated on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights late, but was fully enclosed so it did not create any disturbing noise. Tuesday night was karaoke in the beach bar, but that shut down at 11:30 p.m. so, again, no problem.
The hotel had a beautiful white sand beach and clear, clean water for swimming/snorkeling -- and much less congested than Grand Anse Beach. This was also a great beach for kids. The water was shallow with virtually no surf or rough water. The staff, starting with the owner, Julia Moore, were uniformly pleasant and helpful with a ready smile at all times.
We usually ate breakfast on the beach. They had a wide variety of foods, all well prepared. Dinner overlooking the bay was a real treat. In this regard, we walked to several other restaurants in the area -- all very good to excellent. The walk entailed a couple of hills and there were plenty of taxis if that doesn't suit you.
The office had a safe for valuables, passports, etc., and was most helpful in exchanging dollars for EC dollars at the bankrate.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay and simply had no problems, and, if we could, we'd be back there right now! |

Inexpensive, basic beachfront rooms. Visited: December 2002 |

Located on a calm beach that attracts few vendors (in contrast to Grenada's famous Grand Anse where vendors are numerous), the Gem Holiday Beach Resort offers value for the money. If you are satisfied with no-frills accommodations and minimal on-site activities, and you want to stay within a tight budget, this beachfront resort may be the perfect place for you.
The Gem is an older resort which, though well maintained, shows its age in its room furnishings, which are acceptable, but not comfortable.
We ate dinner at the restaurant which offered good food at relatively inexpensive prices for the Caribbean, although they did not have some of the menu items. For breakfast, you may want to use the kitchen facilities in the room. Whatever you do, don't order the restaurant's croissant, which was a tasteless piece of bright yellow gnarled dough. |

We had a wonderful visit to Grenada September 2002.
The Gem Beach was a great place to stay. They offered nice, spacious and clean apartments. The staff was very friendly, the beach bar was lovely and the Roti was delicious.
We hope to come back.

Gem is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing vacation. Its location is ideal and you are well taken care of by the helpful staff.
This was my second trip in six months and I've decided to let Gem be my vacation home.
On arrival right through departure, the staff makes sure that you are comfortable. They are very warm-hearted and friendly, which makes you feel right at home.
The meals are fabulous and the restaurant staff could not be more helpful.
Overall, the Gem is my number one vacation spot and I am looking forward to the next trip. |

Gem Holiday Beach Resort offers beautifully-sited beach apartments. Visited: June 2002 |
| Posted by dsale |

The web site was very "true-to-label". There were stunning views from a well-equipped and spacious apartment.
A mix-up with bookings and rooms was eventually sorted out (I found this not unusual in the Caribbean), and the Gem staff was eager to "put things right" - which they did with subsequent outstanding and friendly service.
The beach bar right on the spotlessly clean "postcard" beach and sparkling sea were the stuff of holiday dreams. We did not eat at the restaurant, as the kitchen facilities in the apartments were so good.
It was a good value for your money. We would recommend it.

A great place to stay, relaxing and comfortable. Visited: June 2002 |

Gems was the ideal place to stay for a relaxing get-away. It's location next to the beach was ideal for those early morning and late afternoon treks to the beach.
The rooms were nice and maintained daily by the maid, although on Sunday I requested she not stop by so I could sleep in.
Gems was located close to other hotels which provided several options for dining. A shopping mall "down de road" provided a supermarket close enough not to be an inconvenience if you forgot to get anything. Also, taxis were always available and the local buses were just down the road.
The staff members not only were a great source of information, but also made us feel right at home. We even attended a festival where transportation and dinner was provided by the resort. They arranged for our car rental and were willing to help us with any events we wanted to attend.
The night club next to the property was also enjoyable and to know that if you wanted to party, it was conveniently located a few steps away, was comforting. I would recommend Gems as a great place to stay in Grenanda. |

We had a wonderful visit to Grenada the last two weeks in May.
The Gem Beach was a great place to stay. They offered nice, clean efficiency apartments and had a friendly courteous staff. The location was perfect. It was in an isolated bay with beautiful water and a beach, yet close to town and shopping.
A friend who has stayed here several times recommended the Gem. He was right on the money. I hope to get back soon.

Not worth the cost, poorly kept Visited: March 2002 |

We really couldn't understand where all of the positive reviews about this place came from. The beach and facilities are poorly kept and the staff seemed tired and surly for the most part.
The parking lot of the dance club on the premises fills up with teenagers on the weekends and is very very loud all night long. We tried to leave upon arival but, after waiting for hours to get an answer, were told that we couldn't get our deposit back.
Gem could have been worse, but it was a real disappointment. |

Gem is great for a peaceful, relaxing hideaway. Visited: December 2001 |

I stayed at Gem Beach Resort during the month of December. I'm a Grenadian who lived in the U.K., U.S.A., visited other Caribbean islands and never had such a peaceful stay while on vacation. I needed somewhere that I could unwind after experiencing a hectic period in my life and I am happy to say that Gem was the place.
The location is great with the beach and the setting of the sun. The outside exterior is clean and magnificent. Maid service is excellent with daily cleaning and fresh flowers, not forgetting that lovely smile which made my day. Every where is spotlessly clean and the scent of the deodorizer after cleaning smells so good.
Restaurant service is great with the various dishes, even though my favorite is vegetables with steamed fish. The Christmas dinner was excellent and I hope to be there for the next one.
The front office staff also made my stay enjoyable with their warm and friendly smiles.
I'll recommend Gem as an ideal place to getaway for a vacation. Guests are well taken care of in a great location. The nightlife is great and there’s lots of sightseeing spots and for someone who wants to spend quality time either with oneself or with the right mate. Just choose Gem; you can't go wrong.
Again, many thanks to the management and staff and not forgetting a special thank you to the General Manager Ms. Julia Moore for allowing me the rest and vacation that I so needed. It meant a lot to me and I am now able to move on with more positive thoughts towards my future.

It was great! Visited: November 2001 |

This is my second review of the "Gem".
We have stayed here five times now. Much has been done to improve the rooms, including new floor tiling, bigger refrigerators, new paint. etc.
My wife and I were here in May, and returned in November for my birthday.
We took a couple of our Canadian friends with us, and they fell in love with the place.
Julia Moore, the owner, surprised me with a party, involving all the guests and locals. And what a great treat it was!
This was true Grenadian hospitality, at its ulitmate best. There were no frills here, just pure, honest dedication to ensure a great vacation.
I was quite content to leave my doors open, with expensive jewelry, and money plainly visible, no problem here.
On my birthday morning, a waitress delivered a bottle of champagne and a platter of food, a cake, and a bouquet of flowers. It was a really nice touch.
I consider the Gem to be a wonderful establishment. The staff should be honored for their professionalism and wonderful conduct.

After visiting many countries in the East, I decided to go to the Caribbean. I chose Gem Holiday Beach Resort. It was a lovely place—immaculately clean with a friendly, polite and helpful staff.
I had marvelous meals at their beachside restaurant. The beautiful beach and magnificent sunset also captured my heart. I had such a great time hearing that I'm already planning a second trip here in the near future. This hotel, as its name suggests, is indeed a perfect Gem!

Brilliant Place - A must for all Visited: December 2000 |

I read the comments about the Gem in December, however I decided to keep an
open mind and e-mailed the resort for information. I was sent a very
informative letter with rates and some visuals. I liked what I saw and the
prices suited my pockets. I booked three nights in the first
instant.
On arrival, I was impressed with the professional manner in which
the girls at the Front Desk greeted me. My room was lovely with all the
amenities and spotlessly clean, the view was also magnificent, needless to
say, I extended my visit to another 11 days.
The Gem is a mini resort, well run with hot and cold water, full kitchenette
with electric kettle, toaster, full refrigerator, full stove and oven, all
utensils including wine glasses. Great value for the money.
I am planning to make Gem my vacation home next year.

Our second time @ the "Gem" wondourous Visited: November 2000 |

As an avid lover of the "Real" Caribbean , Grenada, and especially, the "Gem" on wonderful 'Morne Rouge Bay', my wife and I recently returned from our 6th vacation, and our second wonderful stay at the "Gem".
The "Gem" has been totally refurbished, and where in the U.S. can you find an "Apartment Style Hotel" complete with full kitchens, spacious living rooms, with Mahogany furnishings, with living space that compares to the price? Not in MSP, or Boston.
As a freelance writer and promotor for Grenada, with constant touch with the "GBT" and "GHA", and as the main source of information, on the Grenada BB on 'AOL', I have sent many satisfied guests to the "Gem". The constant smiling faces, and fresh cut flowers in your room, plus the fact that your dirty dishes are cleaned (if you can cook) and the staff all to get to know you by name if you have a personality.
My birthday was tremendously special as all the staff knew that it was my day. I consider the "Gem" what it is...A "Gem".... And I have stayed at ritzy Hotels in Grenada.
Back to the "Gem" for ne and my wife in May. You can't beat the price and the attentive personality of it's most gracious employees. The grounds are spotlessly groomed. What more can I say? For a guy that has been to 63 nations in this world, this 'Gem' is my 2nd home. And the fabulous staff is remarkable. Merv (Main Mon) |
