It was not so pleasant. Visited: March 2008 |

Grenada was an amazing island and I would love to visit there again sometime.
However, the Allamanda was horrible. My family and I had to switch rooms twice. The first time was because the air conditioner was dripping on the tile floor created a big pile of water for me to slip on in the morning. When the owner, who nevertheless was very sweet, switched our rooms so that he could fix the air conditioning leak, we got the "ocean view" which really was the view of the deserted pool.
The staff was very nice. The cleaning ladies were very rude, though. The owner also insisted that we leave our safe key with him whenever we left our room. (We didn't). They also had a Jacuzzi that did not have any water in it - just mold and dried up leaves.
There were three families total staying at the resort at the time of my stay. The bartenders did not know how to make any drinks that were on their menu. It was best to just ask for a Carib (local beer) because they usually were better at taking the bottle cap off.
The tour guide, Kurt, was amazing and very helpful. He made my stay here a whole lot better.
Overall, I spent my vacation only sleeping at the dump and walking next door to the Coyoba. It was a beautiful hotel right next door that had entertainment, buffet, people, cleanliness, and bartenders who knew how to make drinks.
Only go to the Allamanda if you are 65+ years of age and are just going to relax. It is not recommended for kids at all. |

The Allamanda Beach is not ritzy or upscale, but very, very pleasing. Visited: November 2003 |

I stayed here for nine nights and ten days, and was very happy with the Allamanda.
Don't believe their website when they claim the rooms are "exquisitely" decorated. They were not. It was just basic, clean and very comfortable, with a pleasant, low-key charm. And the bathroom, while spacious and well-lit, with a good, big mirror, and full tub and shower, was outdated.
What made it great were all the amenties, and little nice touches. The room was spacious, and the balcony was sweet. There was a good size TV, with remote control. The A/C was in good working order!
Also, off the main lobby, there was an internet station, where for 10EC (like US $3.00), guests got an internet card, good for 1.25 hours of internet use. They also had one of the better, more well-equipped fitness rooms that I've seen at resorts that claimed they had fitness rooms.
It was in an excellent location on Grand Anse Beach, where, with only a little bit of a stroll, you could have your own private little stretch of beach to take in the glorious view of the palm trees, the crystal blue horizon, and the green mountains spotted with charming cottages.
An important tip: bring your own inflatable lounge- the hotels request that you don't drag their chairs too far from their property; as a result, people end up clustered on the beach, directly in front of the hotel. Yuck. Bring your own lounge and wander off.
The "Soleil" restaurant, independently owned and run, was without exaggeration, excellent. Appetizers that I loved: "crab cushions," covered in coconut, served with a spicy mayonnaise for dipping; "graham crusted camembert cheese, served with fruit chutney and toasted baguette rounds".
Additionally, the hotel was conveniently located: a three-minute walk from two strip malls, which each had appealing places at which to eat. One great find was this little place, which almost looked like a dive-y hut, but served wonderful cappuccino and pasta. And the cappuccino and pasta would only come to like US$11.
Lastly, the service at the hotel was excellent, warm and courteous. They never acted like you were an annoyance. On the first day, my toilet clogged up. I called the front desk, and literally within five minutes, came to fix it.
I would definitely stay here again. |

My girlfriend and I took our first vacation together in Grenada and stayed at the Allamanda Hotel.
Our room had a breathtaking view of the marvlous beaches, and everyone in the hotel could not have been more accommodating. The pool was great, and the food from the resturant was some of the best on the island.
I was pleasantly surprised with everything about the Allananda Hotel and I hope to stay here again soon. |

We stayed here in April. The place was wonderful, the service was excellent, and overall it was our favorite place in the Caribbean. The restaurant was a great place to relax after a day in the sun. The food was excellent. We cannot say enough about this hotel. We will return as often as we can. |

Nice and clean newer rooms Visited: January 2000 |

My visit to the Allamanda was short, but sweet. After arriving at another hotel close by I took my cab driver’s advise and headed over to the Allamanda for a very nice surprise.
The hotel was new, clean and the rooms were well-appointed; the best you’re going to get on this island. I was only there for a couple days before moving onto my next island, part of a 60-day island hopping trip. The long beach was nice, but if you turn right at the end of the driveway and go to the end of the road you will find a beach that leads to a group of less-populated beaches. Bring your mask fins and snorkel. You will need them to get around the points and find your way to the next beach.
I went miles, and will always have fond memories of that day. |
