We had a very good experience here. Visited: September 2008 Posted by haiti2home We spent one week at Le Plaza, and had a very good experience. We booked an executive room at $119/night and were pleased with the size of the room. It was not new, and there were some quirks with the older bathroom fixtures, but it was clean and comfortable. The grounds were amazing - beautiful, lush foliage and a large swimming pool. A major plus was the free wireless Internet that allowed us to stay connected with our family back home. Also, breakfast was included, and the meals offered by the restaurant were reasonably priced and delicious. What most impressed us was the quality of the service. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful and kind. Being in downtown Port-au-Prince, we did at times feel somewhat insecure, but the hotel had armed guards as well as a number of UN peacekeepers as long-term guests. Visited: May 2007 Posted by jamesdalphonse This property was a decent place to stay. It was right in the heart of Port au Prince, and had a nice pool, a decent restaurant and a bar. However, about seven or eight years ago, this property was put on "probation" by the Holiday Inn franchises for not meeting standards. Six months later, they were re-evaluated and failed again! At this point, the property had six weeks to remove the Holiday Inn name. So, be advised before you get here, it is not a Holiday Inn anymore. A good point to this hotel is that, directly across the street, there are vendors selling Haitian paintings, crafts, carvings, ironworks, etc, yes right across the street, like three big displays. A down-side to this property is that in front of the hotel there are some "beggars" who will literally pester you to death for money. So, beware of that. Le Plaza is a nice respite from Port-au-Prince. Visited: October 2003 Posted by brendasilkman I stayed at the Le Plaza for two days in September and two days in October. It was clean and offered a safe swimming pool (pool water was filtered, unlike most pools in Haiti), air conditioning, and safe water. The staff was courteous and did all they could to make our stay pleasant. This hotel would be a three- or four-star rating in the US, but by Port-au-Prince standards, it was definitely a five! Visited: April 2002 Posted by mrlunick I stayed here for a week, and it was all that I expected it to be. I enjoyed the treatment I received, and their services were prompt. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is planning a trip to Haiti to choose Le Plaza. They were the best there. Visited: November 2001 Posted by beverlyamartin1 The property is beautiful and very well kept. The rooms are very nice and spotlessly clean. The staff is very polite, friendly and very helpful. The food is very good with a large variety from which to choose. I highly reccomend this hotel. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this as 8.
