Many treatments were designed by 'spa elders,' a term that evokes gray-haired soothsayers but really just means those steeped in Jamaican remedies, traditions, and indigenous ingredients. Elders prescribe a wellness plan of therapies in private consults - or guests can create their own." A Jamaican Bush Bath ($55) is soothing followed with the Jamaican Green Coffee Envelopment ($195) which uses Blue Mountain coffee to perk up fatigued skin. You can't come to Jamaica and pass up the world-famous 7-Mile Beach in Negril. With so much white sand, there's plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy the sun. Stroll along the beach and you'll find all-inclusive resorts, hotels, villas, beachfront restaurants, water activity vendors and a few locals peddling their own merchandise. A polite "not interested" hand signal usually puts them at bay. This beach used to be a big hippie hang-out and you might still be asked if you want some grass, but mainly the beach is littered with families, vacationers, a few locals and some boozy party-types. The highlight of the day is the beautiful evening sunset. Sitting with your toes in the sand, gazing over the crystal water is a relaxing treat! (close)

The slow trip down the Rio Grande starts at either Berrydale or Grants Level and ends at Rafters Rest on the coast. The ride takes about two to three hours, depending on your entry point, speed of the river and strength of your boatman. If you have a car your have the choice of leaving your car at Rafters Rest then taking a taxi to your entry point or driving up to your entry point and allowing a member of staff to drive your car to Rafters Rest and wait for you (close)

The Trident castle is the only castle in the Caribbean and was built in the 1980s by the architect Earl Levy. The castle was commissioned by Mr Levy's then business partner, Baroness Fahmi of Germany. However, there were subsequent legal wrangling between the architect and the baroness, resulting in Levy taking ownership of the castle. Trident Castle is now a weekend home for the Levy family but can be rented out for visits and special occasions. The property is an example of rocco stonework, constructed in an Austrian Baroque style. There are six elegant bedrooms, a music room, a dining fall and peacocks have the free run of the grounds. Music, dancing, dressed up donkeys, food everywhere, people from all over the island(not to mention the world), drinks, laughs, and sites beyond belief. If you are looking for a true jamaican experience....not one that is all dressed up for the tourists be sure to check this one out. It runs the weekend of Easter every year so it is a perfect time to book your trip to take advantage of those extra days off. Be sure to tell the locals that Kizzy from Cotton Tree told you about it. I am certain you will get good smiles and hearty hand shakes from them all. I miss Jamaica so much....I can't wait to go back for good. (close)
