A: Jamaica receives many visitors to the island on a daily bases, if it had been an island of complete harrassment and crime you would have no one interest in coming. however each time i visit a hotel, the guest popularity is mainly tourist and it always makes you feel good to know other persons are interested in your country. you do not need to beleive any ones advice, however experience will teach you alot. take the trip and visit either Montego Bay or Negril, do enjoy our island

A: There is definitely crime if you travel off the beaten path. Stick to the tourist areas. You will still be offered drugs, but a simple 'no thank you' will be enough and they'll leave you alone. When shopping be careful of pickpocketers. It is a poor country. Use good judgement and you won't have any problems.

A: My family and myself visited Montego Bay 06/05 on a cruise..We went shopping in the area by Jimmy Buffets. There were so many people from the island wanting to sell us drugs,it was a very uncomfortable area. Not sure if something was going on or if it was customary because of the ship being ported there, but there were officers in full metal jackets everywhere.Needless to say,we went back to the ship after about 2 hrs

A: Crime is a part of every island in the Caribbean, just be travel savy and only stay in reputable hotels and only use official taxis and so forth. Don't go down dark alleys, ect. I don't think Jamaica is any worse than other islands.
