This was paradise in Paradise! Visited: October 2002 |

My wife and I went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica on a cruise, and we decided to return for our anniversary with another couple who was also on their anniversary trip.
We were highly disappointed with the "resort" we had originally booked. After some debate and with some help from their travel agent (Cami from Cleveland), we were lucky enough to stay at the Ritz!
From the moment we arrived to the moment we reluctantly had to depart, it was truly paradise. Cami booked us the Keys to Paradise package all-inclusive. As I said, it was paradise in Paradise! |

This resort did not miss a beat. Everything about our trip was an absolute delight. The accomodations-top notch, the food-delicious, we loved the fact that there were so many options. We did the all inclusive plan which was worth every penny. The plan included spa treatments every day, golf (my husband raved about the course), as well as an abundance of delicious food.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised at how wonderful our experience was, after all, it was a Ritz-Carlton. I don't think we'll ever stay anywhere else but a Ritz-Carlton from now on. It was pure heaven! |

Simply put - it is "The Ritz." Visited: June 2002 |

Beauty, elegance, class and style. Get away from the stress of everyday life and relax on one of the world's most friendly and peaceful islands.
As a native Californian, we always opted for Mexico and Hawaii. Boy were we wrong! The dining and service at the Ritz were A+. For the golfer, White Witch Golf Course was a must. The aesthetics alone were worth the price of greens fees. For the ladies, or the men for that matter, a trip to the Spa will drown your tension.
As a frequent Ritz vacationer, this one ranked as one of their best. |

Not so great. Visited: April 2002 |

I went to Jamaica in late April of 2002 one weekend to get away from the city and just relax. I chose the Ritz figuring that the service and facilities would be top-notch. Needless to say, the service was disappointing.
The spa reservations that I had booked in advance had mysteriously disappeared without any explanation. I made several attempts to speak to the woman who had confirmed my reservation and my spa treatments before my arrival and each time I tried to ask for her at reception, she was unavailable to speak with me. The service at the restaurants was slow and inattentive. The hotel staff that I would pass in the halls and around the property was often sullen and unfriendly, even if I would say hello. This certainly did not make a good impression on me and I did not feel very welcome. I will not be returning to the Ritz at Rose Hall. |

A typically magnificient Ritz Carlton Resort. Visited: April 2002 |

Word has apparently gotten out about this beautiful property. As a result, when my family and I arrived for a three-day vacation, it was overbooked and we had to stay one night in the neighboring Half-Moon hotel.
Despite the Ritz's magnificence, I preferred the Half-Moon, which was an older, typically luxurious Caribbean resort. The beach at Half-Moon was breathtaking, while the Ritz beach was small and unimpressive.
While friendly, the Ritz's service was - at best - spotty. It was difficult at times to get someone to pick up the phone for room service. Food delivery was slow and the food itself was quite expensive.
As an example, the Ritz had a pricey jerk shack on property. However, just down the road were many other more authentic jerk shacks where the food was more plentiful and varied, more tasty and much less expensive. Just have a taxi take you there. |

The Ritz-Carlton was excellent in every sense of the word.
From the time we got off the plane (they gave us chilled towels in a private lounge) - to the time we got back on, they pampered us like no other. I got sunburned, and they kept asking if they could get the nurse for me.
We checked out a little late and were worried the maid would be upset, but she told us very candidly: "I am not happy until you are happy. Okay?" That summed up the Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall.
Granted, the beach was not perfect like some in the Caribbean, but it was nice and provided the perfect place to lounge. The pool was also great for lounging. It was, in a few words, nearly perfection. We would go back in a heart beat. |

This was a very good choice! Visited: January 2002 |

I spent one week here. Unlike places like the Bahamas, the people who work at the resort were genuinely nice and friendly - moreso than anywhere I've been in the area.
The amenities were great. The food was expensive, but good. I suggest going for an upgraded package where meals and snacks are served buffet style on your floor (the top floors).
The food here was very good and the people were very nice. The beach area was poor, but there were frequent buses other beach areas, and to the famous golf course, where the pro instructors were great.
Unfortunately, Jamaica in general is very poor. I felt very unsafe when we went into Montego Bay proper. Butf our dining experience in one of the two or three restaurants was worth going to. Montego Bay on a Saturday night was pretty scary, and I felt pretty unsafe. We had guards escort us the 50-foot distance across the street from where our car dropped us off.
If you don't mind staying at this very nice resort, you will be fine! It was very secure and safe. It was also very convenient to the airport. I hope this was helpful! |

The Ritz Carlton in Rose Hall was simply wonderful! The accommodations were clean, and the service was excellent.
If you are a beach person, I must tell you candidly that the beach is unimpressive. However, the pool area is great!

The Hotel is beautiful and the grounds well kept. The rooms were spaciouse and well decorated. I loved the marble bath tub, separate shower and separate toilet room. The concierge services were Top dog from the time we arrived until the time we departed. Everyone was warm and friendly.
The spa was incredible. The beach is small and quaint. Not a whole lot of scheduled activites on the beach, but I enjoyed relaxing in the sun.
This was my first trip to Jamaica and given the choice I don't think I would want to stay anywhere else in Montego Bay. I highly recommend this resort.
