It was very disappointing. Visited: October 2009 |

I am not a very picky person. I just want people to be aware of the fact that this place does not look at all like the pictures they post on their web site.
The service was horrible. I rarely saw a smile on one person in the lobby. The gentlemen who ran the guest services made it seem like he was too good to help anyone. He was so preoccupied on his cell phone or the computer.
The quality of the room was way below average. The furniture actually had spots of rust coming through the fabric. You will have to climb back up a mountain to get to your room once you go to the beach.
The restaurant service (or lack thereof) was very disappointing, too. For example, I ordered soup at one and it was never brought to me. When I brought it up to the server he said "Oh, did you order soup?" I said yes, and he said he would bring it right over. Needless to say, I never got it.
On another occasion, I stood at the beach bar for ten minutes and was never helped. I actually saw two other people walk up next to me and get helped. Keep in mind it was not busy. There were only two other people at the bar when we finally just walked away.
If you buy anything in the gift shop, check the receipt. We were overcharged even with the label price on everything.
We experienced way more bad than good here. The only things that hold this hotel together are the social directors, Miguel and Shellie-ann, and the food. I have to say the food was the best I have ever experienced, though. |

It was perfection. Visited: August 2008 |

We stayed in Sans Souci in August 2008, and had a wonderful time.
The hotel and grounds were welcoming, charming, and clean. The staff was very friendly, and the food was to die for. We had a penthouse suite with views over the ocean. It was pure bliss.
It was an amazing holiday. There were lots of excursions, too. We visited Italy on our engagement, and didn't think anything would top it. Boy, were we wrong.
We are going back next year. I can't wait. It is certainly worth a visit, although don't tell everyone - we don't want to spoil it! |

We had a not so nice honeymoon here. Visited: February 2008 |

My husband and I got married at the Rose Hall Resort and Country Club in Montego Bay, and honeymooned at the Couples Resort San Souci.
I was very disappointed upon arrival at the outdated decor, and it got even worse as we got to our room. The room was dark, and the furniture was dirty and outdated.
The resort sat on a cliff, and to get from our room to the beach and restaurant was a hike. The restaurants were mediocre - if not bland. We paid in full before arrival, and if it was not for that I would have returned to Rose Hall.
The one nice thing was that most excursions were included in the fee. However, at $500 a night, this resort was a let down. |

Couples is a beautiful place with great staff. Visited: April 2007 |
| Posted by chuckryan |

It's truly a wonderful place within the gates of the resort - outside not so much. The resort offered beautiful views and a comfortable bed.
The negative aspects I encountered included:
1. Construction that spoiled the tranquil setting.
They need better glassware. All our drinks were served in elementary school type small plastic (well used!) cups.
3. Trying to find bottled water as we walked the grounds was very hard. The staff did not seem concerned that we needed water stating "the bar is not open yet". Bottled water should not be so hard to get.
4. The towels were also a hard to acquire commodity. I know the place is trying to be "green", but we are on vacation! If I needed another towel, it should not be like pulling teeth. |

Sans Souci is located on absolutely beautiful property. There is so much to do at the resort it's almost not necessary to go anywhere else.
All the rooms have great views of the sea, and the employees are the nicest people you will come across. The food is top notch and the selection is so broad that all will be satisfied.
It is probably the best vacation I've ever had! |

It was beautiful - with unbeatable staff and great food. Visited: March 2005 |

What every other reviewer has written about Sans Souci is absolutely true! It was a breathtakingly beautiful resort, the staff was superb, and the food was award winning at the French restaurant.
One huge problem that we encountered, yet never read about was: the hotel frequently overbooked. We arrived for a seven-night stay to include our wedding and honeymoon, only to find out we were being shuttled to another hotel because Sans Souci had overbooked our reservation!
They put us up in a different hotel, more like a two-star hotel, and for the most part was rather unapologetic. The guest relations manager's take on the situation was "well, its only one night, what's the big deal?".
When we did finally get to the resort, we met several other couples who had been 'bumped' to various other hotels in Ocho Rios, some two-star, and some four-star.
Basically, from what we could tell, this overbooking seemed to be a common practice at the hotel, and the management didn't seem to sympathize at all with the guests that they bumped.
It was really too bad, because their staff was excellent, and the property was gorgeous. But for this reason and this reason only, we would not return to Sans Souci. This overbooking was simply unacceptable, and if any hotel did that here in the states, they would be out of business. |

I just got back, and really loved the way we were pampered in every aspect. The surroundings were very lush and beautiful. And the people were so wonderful, and very sincere.
I really loved Sans Souci Resort and Spa. |

What a spectacular island paradise! Visited: August 2004 |

This was our second trip to Jamaica. We stayed July 28- August 4. We based our choice on web reviews. Upon arrival, we discovered that the reports and pictures on websites cannot fully describe this place. It was full of lush flowers and exotic trees. It was like being in a greenhouse.
We stayed in D Block which was carved into the side of a cliff, there were palm trees in view from our balcony and we had a nice view of the ocean. The rooms were clean and well appointed with maid service in the morning and turn down later in the afternoon. I loved the jacuzzi tub.
The food and drinks were so plentiful that we utilized the 24 hour in room dining only once. I must have had ten different exotic drinks. Each bartender seemed to have his or her signature drink. The staff was very friendly and attentive to every need, always asking if we were enjoying our stay.
Watersports were free, we took a glass botttom boat ride. There were tours available also. The beach was great, and the water was clear and nice.
If you can stay awake, after a day of activities there was nightly entertainment. The entertainment manager, Ted, was very gracious and always informed and invited us to events like the Manager's Cocktail hour, Friday Night Gala, and the Tuesday Night Beach Party.
If you're into staying in shape, ask for Flex at the gym, he is a great guy, he will set you up with a cardiovascular and/or weight loss program. Overall, the vacation was all that I had hoped for and more.

Here you can enjoy relaxation and rum punch! Visited: June 2004 |

My husband and I visited Sans Souci in June 2004. This was our first trip to Jamaica, although not our first visit to the Caribbean.
We were impressed by the attentive staff, delicious food, and lush grounds.
Our suite was on the first floor of Block C (Room C-3). It was a lovely room, but "ocean view" only if we stood on top of a chair on the porch. If we return, I will request a room in A or B block. These rooms were truly "oceanview" and had excellent access to the beach, freshwater pool, beach grill, bar, and Palazzina restaurant.
Spa services were supremely relaxing. We recommend the upgraded one-hour couples massage and the almond body scrubs!
As far as the food, there was great variety and options. They served gorgeous desserts almost too pretty to eat. Almost!
Overall, we agreed that this vacation was the most relaxing and rejuvenating we've ever taken.
Our only complaint about the trip was regarding the airport transfer. Ocho Rios was a two-hour ride by car/bus from Montego Bay airport. The road to Ocho Rios was largely unpaved and more suited to a four-wheel drive V6 or V8 than a struggling four-cylinder minibus that could barely manage 15 mph uphill.
We roasted in 95 degree heat with no A/C, unable to open the rusted windows. By the time we reached the resort, we were both carsick (and we don't get carsick!).
We did not take advantage of the free airport transfer on the return. Instead, we booked a charter flight from the local Boscobel Airport to Montego Bay (a 30-minute flight). Cost was $85 per person...but worth every penny. We would most definitely book the charter flight for roundtrip transfer next time. |

It was a beautiful tropical paradise here. Visited: April 2004 |

Sans Souci Resort and Spa was the most beautiful island resort we have experienced (and we have been to many).
There were many extra touches that made this resort special. The alto sax player we stumbled upon in the early evening playing in a gazebo overlooking the ocean was just one of many.
The staff was welcoming, professional and attentive. The rooms were spacious, clean and tastefully decorated with breathtaking views. The food, especially at the Jamaican restaurant, was delicious. The resort was beautifully landscaped with lush tropical foliage and a number of private areas for lounging in hammocks or just sitting and taking in the view.
The two beaches were relatively small, but very well maintained. The clothing optional beach was a natural beach and the main beach was man made. There was plenty of activity available for those so inclined, but the beach also remained relatively quiet for those who just wanted to relax.
The fitness center was well equiped and there were daily group exercise classes available above the fitness center in an open air pavilion right near the mineral pool.
The resort was made up of blocks of rooms, and several buildings which housed the restaurants, fitness center and spa facilities, most of which were built into or on top of a hill. Be prepared to climb steps regularly.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Sans Souci and look forward to returning soon. |

San Souci had a totally relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed everything; the food, pools, gym, spa, food, bars, hammocks, snorkling, waterskiing and lush grounds.
The staff seemed to fall over us to make us feel welcome and at home (home should be this good). We will return again. |

This was the best vacation I have ever had in my life. My wife was crying on our last day, saying that she didn't want to leave.
The staff was amazing. Ask for Ricardo, he's the man!

It was like being relaxed in Paradise. Visited: October 2003 |

The service was outstanding. The food was enough to put 12 pounds on me by the time I left, but I'm not complaining. The atmosphere was relaxed and the sailing was awesome.
My wife and I went for our seventh-year anniversary and we're going back for our eighth. We met so many outgoing couples that were here doing the same thing we had in mind.
We went sailing twice a day and made it back for the grilled jerk burger at the bar. Doctor Clive and the boys kept us entertained. The spa treatments were soothing. We miss Charlie, the sea turtle.
The only complaints were sharing this paradise with Canadian couples who would not stop complaining. Come for the food, the drinks, the service, the sailing, the clear water, but stay away from the Canadians and your trip will be peaceful. |

There is no other resort that can compare to Sans Souci.
From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The rooms were fantastic - no room was a bad room. Also, the food was the best I have had!
We have come here four times. |

This was my second trip to Jamaica and I loved it even more than the first! San Souci was really "without cares"! I loved the "no problem" attitiude! All of the staff were great - from the young lady who arranged my shuttle all the way to Joe the tennis pro.
The two-hour drive was actually not so bad. I was prepared for it this time around. We were made to feel like VIPs as soon as Martin took our bags.
Tia's smile, the cold towel and champagne told us we had arrived. I am a fitness guru, so most of my time was spent at the fitness pavillion and mineral pool. Sheryl Campell (spa director), Winston Davy (his body made you want to workout), Andre (kept the pool area very tidy) and Joe (tennis became fun again), they all made sure I got what I needed.
All of the restaurant staff and chefs were marvelous. Lennox Green, Marvin Hyatt, Juan, Paul Pryce, Kenroy, Farrah, Nadine, Orville and Barbara were some of my favorites. The bartenders - Patrick, Shaun, Orlando - were great guys.
The food was good, too. I can even say I met a couple of the managers, Pierre and Douglas, who were very hospitable. There were a lot of stairs, but Leroy or Kevin seemed to right there to give me lift when I just didn't feel like walking.
I have recommended San Souci to everyone at home. People say I was just glowing upon my return. This was just a great trip. Even the USAirways flights were good. |
