It was more than amazing. Visited: October 2007

We were referred to this resort by our wonderful travel agency. We were told we would love it, and we certainly did!

My boyfriend is not the dramatic type, but he was thrilled at all aspects of the property, as was I. The rooms, the restaurants, the beach, and the food - was all amazing.

Also, the staff was so polite and efficient.

One of our most favorite nights here included watching a movie on the beach!

We cannot wait to go back. We have actually already planned for November 2008. This time, we will stay for more than five days, because it is not nearly enough time.

I promise you, this is a real review from a very satisfied vacationer. It was our first time in Jamaica, and we fell in love with it!

This was a fun resort. Visited: May 2006

I recently stayed at Couples as a guest for my cousin's wedding. The resort was wonderful. The beach was very nice, the food was good, and the rooms were nice, simple and clean.

The staff was really friendly. The wedding was beautiful. Even though the hotel did tons of weddings every day, the staff made my cousin's wedding feel unique and special.

I've stayed at other all-inclusive resorts, and I liked this one better because (1) there were no kids; (2) the beach was the main attraction as opposed to a pool area; (3) there were lots of fun activities. We windsurfed, took a sunset cruise and took an excursion to a local bar/cliff diving site.

I had a relaxing vacation here. Visited: November 2004

I was really surprised when I first arrived. I was expecting something five-star, since we were told this was one of the nicer properties in Negril.

The brochure was a bit misleading. The property could have been manicured more. Also, our floor was dirty the entire time. Not to mention, we waited on towels for 18 hours. Apparently, there was a shortage of towels...go figure.

The music during dinner was wonderful. And the Lemon Grass Restaraunt was awesome! The food was good, and the fruit was incredible. Also, the spa at this place was nice. It was a very relaxing and soothing place.

This trip was a gift from my boyfriend, and I can't say if we will visit Swept Away again.

We found it to be disappointing: loud, dirty, and poorly run. Visited: May 2004
Posted by rmartin16
I was responsible for planning my wife's and my honeymoon. I picked Swept Away. Luckily, my new wife is very forgiving. While the location was beautiful and most of the staff was nice, this didn't overcome the fact the at the resort was loud, dirty and the staff poorly trained.

The staff was very nice as people and many of them tried hard, but that only went so far. For the most part, the staff seemed poorly trained and diddn't seem to have enough of the essentials to do their jobs right - if they knew how to.

It would be hard to enjoy your trip if you are waiting line forever or just not getting what you asked for.

Our room had a wonderful view, but that was the best we can say about it. The floor was filthy. When we walked around bare footed in our room, our feet turned black! One day the floor was so bad that my wife actually had to get down on the floor and clean it herself with a towel. Now, we are neither neat freaks or slobs, but we expect at least a clean room when we pay this much.

As I mentioned, we were on our honeymoon and were looking to relax and spend some time alone with one another. Both of these were hampered by the nightly music in the main dining room blasting away until 11:00 pm or later.

All in all, we were very disappointed. We felt we paid too much and got too little. We won't be returning and wouldn't suggest it to a friend. Come here at your own risk.

Take it from a Jamaican-American - is is simply the best. Visited: September 2003

You will not believe this is an all-inclusive. This is Negril's best kept secret. I just read the review from my fellow Jamaican. This had to be a fluke - it just can't be the paradise we stayed at for our honeymoon.

I will agree the food is truly not real Jamaican, but what can you expect from a resort? They have to cater to some of the Yankees and Europeans who can't handle the spices.

This place is the best you're going to get for all-inclusive. It was quaint and romantic. We felt like we were on our on private island.

It was more than I expected! Visited: September 2003

We went to Couples Swept Away in September to renew our wedding vows. Our best friends Rich and Ann, and our two 28-year-old boys, Mark and Paul, accompanied us.

We flew direct from LAX to Montego Bay. We arrived early Saturday morning and the Couples Representative was at the airport waiting for us after clearing customs. It took us a little over an hour to get to CSA from the airport. It was a nice, comfortable ride with some mellow reggae music.

After our bags were unloaded, we were given nice cold towels and glasses of champagne. Check in was quick and efficient. The couples had beachfront rooms and the boys were in a garden room. The rooms and patios were fantastic. There were no TVs in the rooms which was not a problem. They did have a big screen at the sports center which gave us enough of a fix.

The beach was very long and wide with plenty of chairs and mats which also served as floats. They had three beach bars and waitress service on the beach. All were great and the service was fast and friendly. They had a/c, a ceiling fan and screened wood louvered windows.

Our renewal ceremony was set for Tuesday, so we were scheduled to meet with the wedding coordinator, Tamika Jones at 10 a.m. on Monday. We picked out the flowers, location (beach at sunset), picture package, wedding cake, reception area, and made dinner reservations for after the ceremony. This took about an hour.

We couldn't believe it! Tamika was really well organized and set our mind at ease about every little detail. The ceremony was very emotional and fun and it went as exactly as we had envisioned it. The reception was held on the second floor of the main dining room which overlooked the wonderful pool and ocean. We ate at Feathers for our after ceremony dinner and all of us agreed that it was one of the best meals we had ever had.

The food at the resort was incredible. The water sports equipment was all top notch and well maintained. We used the fitness center every day and it rivaled some of the gyms we used in the states. They had entertainment nightly which was well coordinated and attended by most of the resort guests.

One night they had a beach barbeque with local entertainment and it was a blast. We hired a private tour service, Errol Cox who owns Errol Flynn tours, to take us to Mayfield Falls. These falls blew Dunn’s River away. Other excursions were walking down the beach to Margaritaville, cabbing to Rick's Cafe so we could jump off the cliffs, and going to Pirates Cave for snorkeling and Red Stripes.

The service, grounds, rooms, food and staff were the best. In closing, we have stayed at Sandals Dunn's River twice, Sandals Negril once and while they were okay, Couples Swept Away was by far, better than them all!

What an outstanding resort. Visited: July 2003
Posted by c_stovall
This was an outstanding resort for many reasons. From arrival to departure, everything was first class.

The staff was incredible - from front desk staff to the beach bar employees. We cannot say enough about them. The resort was extemely lush with tropical foliage everywhere. As someone stated, "like a rain forest".

The rooms were excellent and very private (the tropical foliage) with huge verandas. We loved the louvers. We stayed in an Atrium and will stay there again, as we preferred it over beachfront.

The food was excellent, and very healthy. There were no fried foods. Feathers Restaurant was outstanding and could compete with the best in any major city.

The beach was excellent, clean and huge, with beach bars strategically located.

The only downside to this resort was having to leave. We only stayed one week, but plan on staying longer on our next trip.

An absolutely wonderful place to vacation! Visited: September 2002
Posted by marhofjac
We ended up at Swept Away after realizing that we had made a mistake at another place nearby (construction made that place noisy, smelly and disgusting). What a lucky change for us!
We've been to many high-end resorts around the world, and this was right up there - only for less money.

We highly recommend the Atrium rooms - there was not too much noise and they were centrally located. The rooms were huge, and very attractive with a real island feel to them. We loved the shutters and combo of a ceiling fan and a/c unit when desired. The large verandah was great - especially the hammock for reading or napping.

The food was A+++++ - especially in the upscale restaurant across the road. But all of the food was wonderful, as was the nightly entertainment and the incredible staff. I have never had such gracious, accommodating staff at any resort we've been to. And the drinks never stopped - unlimited premium brands!

The beach was magnificent, the pool was great, and the outdoor grill and juice bars were convenient. There was no chance of having our thirst or hunger left unsatisfied.

We were here offseason, so it wasn't crowded or too noisy. The rates were unbeatable and we were very fortunate with the weather (humid, but not rainy). It was very romantic and fun.

The gym was due for a renovation and, at first, I was freaked that it was outside with only ceiling fans to move the air around (no a/c). But, I actually enjoyed getting in touch with nature during my workouts. I didn't use the tennis courts - but they were in excellent condition. They had private and group lessons available.

Snorkeling was good (not as good as Tahiti, but still worthwhile). The massage/spa was great, as was a fun class on learning how to give/get massages! We would definitely return!

It was very relaxing. Visited: July 2002
Posted by zrodriguez
We celebrated our one year anniversary at Swept Away. We had a wonderful time.

Swept Away was the perfect resort for a romantic vacation. There were very few planned activities during the day, but there were a variety of watersports activites to choose from. If you are the type who enjoys a lot of social interaction with other people, you won't get it here since most of the guests are couples celebrating honeymoons and seem to be in there own romantic world.

The rooms - although not very fancy - had the feel of being in your own villa in the middle of tropical rainforest. The staff was excellent and very friendly. Also, the food was excellent. They had a wide variety of food to appeal to everyone's taste.

The only negative comment I have is about the gym facility. It was an open-air gym and with no air conditioning - just ceiling fans. The treadmills were ancient and rusty, and the overall look and feel of the gym was "old". For a resort that promotes fitness, they really should have a more modern gym facility.

Swept Away was the perfect resort to get away from it all and the beach on Negril was absolutely breathtaking.

What a fantastic honeymoon! Visited: June 2002
Posted by blakekelley
My wife and I used this web site extensively when we were deciding on a honeymoon destination, so we felt compelled to put our own two cents in.

We stayed for 11 days (10 nights) in early June and had a great time. We were looking for a place to do, essentially, nothing. While the sports complex was everything as advertised (we rarely made use of it), we chose Swept Away because it seemed to offer what we were truly looking for - food, drinks, and beach - in no particular order.

The other reviews found on this site covered most of what you need to know, but not everything. Our room was perfect. It was a second floor Atrium with an actual view of the beach and ocean. We decided on Atrium because it was less expensive than an Ocean View (we wanted to stay for longer than a week).

From what we could see, it appeared our Atrium may have been the only Atrium room with a view of the ocean (Room 2227). But it didn't matter, because the grounds really were lush and the rooms were private (or seemed that way). Even the rooms without ocean views had nice locations.

The beach was perfect, with two beach bars a short walk from wherever you chose to sun. The water was warm (unbelievably at times) and clear - no rocks or seaweed, etc.. It was a beautiful color.

The food was very good in the main dining room, and also at Feathers. The service, as everyone seemed to note, was top notch, and very friendly. We went on the Sunset Cruise (catamaran) which brought us cliff diving, and we also went parasailing, both of which we would recommend.

There were some things we noticed during our trip which I have not seen in the other reviews. The resort offered a two-hour shopping trip, basically a van that shuttled guests around to different areas of Negril. With the exception of Times Square, we would have passed on the entire trip. There were very pushy venders, all selling the same stuff.

Go to Times Square on your own (a very short taxi ride). The food was good, but we branched out towards the end for a little variety. Our recommendations - Rockhouse, Kuyaba and Norma's (located at SeaScape Resort). All of these were an easy taxi ride from Swept Away and had excellent food and tremendous views and settings.

One final observation, and this had nothing to do with Swept Away. Air Jamaica was pretty much a nightmare to deal with. Our flight from Boston was cancelled (remember, this was our honeymoon), causing us to basically miss a day. On our last day, our direct flight was delayed two hours and was changed to a layover flight in Kingston. Nobody was very accommodating. And don't even consider taking the bus from Montego Bay to Negril - it was two hours. Pay the extra money and take the small flight - 15 mins.

Relaxing luxury with plenty to do. Visited: June 2002
Posted by abihopson
We went to Swept Away for our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect.

Our room was huge (an 'atrium' room), with a verandah almost the size of the room. It was very clean, with air conditioning, a ceiling fan and another ceiling fan on the verandah.

The buildings were very well spaced and it took a while for us to realize how big the place was. There were plants everywhere and it fets like we were in a rainforest. This gave a good sense of seclusion, but mosquitoes were everywhere.

The food was excellent in all the restaurants. The food at Feathers was easiliy as good as the best places in London. We thought the Sea Grape Cafe was particularly good - there were only a dozen tables and it was right on the beach.

The beach was huge and was very quiet. There was often bar staff taking orders on the beach, or handing out cold flannels or fruit kebabs.

All the facilities were very good. We never had to queue for anything, including waterskiing. We went scuba diving a couple of times and the instructors were very patient and helpful (we had never done it before). They could do with a wider range of sailing and windsurfing equipment - the windsurfing was good for beginners or large/heavy people. There were no in-between size rigs.

Another small gripe would be the lack of air conditioning in the gym. It was open sided and had ceiling fans. But in a tropical climate this was still unbearable! The only air conditioning outside the rooms was in the squash courts.

I particularly enjoyed the lap pool - this was such a rare thing for a resort. There were seven lanes and usually I was the only person in the pool.

The staff was all really helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to help, and anything we asked for, we would receive the response 'yeah, mon, no problem'. The ratio of staff to guests was also very good. We felt very looked-after all the time.

All in all - a fantasitc holiday!

We found Paradise at Swept Away Negril. Visited: April 2002
Posted by stlfan22
I can honestly say that this was the best resort I have ever stayed in. I can't really say anything bad about this resort.

The employees were first-class, extremely friendly and helpful. The view from the beachfront rooms was unbelievable. Everything was included here. We didn't pay for any drinks, watersports (besides parasailing and jetskiing), food, etc.

The food here was easily as good as any food I have had in the US or in any of my many other trips. There was a restaurant called Feathers, where guests needed reservations. It was probably the best food I have eaten in my entire life.

This place was perfect for relaxing, laying out or doing watersports. Swept Away also had free shuttles to Rick's Cafe for the sunset and also had sunset cruises (free). There was also nightly entertainment in the main dining room with dancing.

They were five bars (if I remember correctly) - one at the sports complex, three on the beach, and one in the main dining room. The sports complex was out of this world. It had a large gym, billards, table tennis, ten tennis courts, squash courts, etc.

The rooms were extremely nice as well (even though I spent very little time in it). The only possible complaint I could think of with to Swept Away was the bathrooms - but they still were not that bad.

There were no televisions in the rooms, but who goes to Jamaica to watch TV? At first, I thought not having a TV would be horrible, but I would have never watched it anyway.

If you are looking for a vacation filled with non-stop partying, this is not the place. However, this is the all-inclusive which is furthest down the beach toward the nightlife. This resort is almost all couples.

Swept Away was my favorite vacation spot I have visited so far and I would definitely recommend it to anyone! I am ready to return very soon!

This is the best all-inclusive in Negril! Visited: April 2002
Posted by legaleagle73
My wife and I went to Swept Away (we were married there), and were quite happy with our stay.

The rooms were pretty nice, with large decks. While the rooms were clean and fairly well appointed, we did have a few gripes. First, our air conditioner didn't seem to work well, which made the room hot all the time. Also, getting good water pressure and getting hot water in the shower seemed to be a problem a little too often.

Our room also had a few ants, which one might expect in a tropical environment. These three things were the only reason we gave four stars instead of five.

Both my wife and I were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I've been to a few other all-inclusives, and at many of them, food quantity was preferred over food quality.

At Swept Away, the quality of the food was very high (and there was a lot of it too!). Most of the meals at Swept Away were as good or even better than the well-known, trendy and expensive places here in Boston. Quite honestly, I did not expect the food to be as good as it was. Certainly, it was fairly superior to the food at any other all-inclusive resorts I've been to.

The staff at Swept Away was awesome. Need something? Tell someone...they'll take care of it for you. Also, Swept Away had a no-tip policy. I almost always tipped anyway, as these people were not exactly getting rich working there, if you know what I mean. Some staff accepted tips, some didn't. If you do decide to tip, be discreet about it.

The beach was wonderful, and was clean and spacious. It should be noted that Swept Away had the best beach location of any all-inclusive resort in Negril. The other all-inclusives were farther down, making it difficult to walk up and down the beach into town.

Speaking of walking along the beach, definitely do it! It is a shame that some people go to their all-inclusive resorts and never get out to see the REAL Jamaica, which is not always pristine and pretty like the brochures. Jamaica is a poor country, but the Jamiacan people are some of the nicest you'll meet anywhere.

Oh...I should mention the Sports Complex at Swept Away, too. It was large and well-appointed. If you are the type who likes to exercise on vacation (I'm not), Swept Away is by far your best choice.

Would I go again? Yes. If I went back to Jamaica (and I probably will in a couple of years) and wanted to stay at an all-inclusive resort, I would probably stay at Swept Away again. It was by a good measure nicer than any other all-inclusive I've ever stayed at. It was just a bit more expensive than other places I've stayed, but for what we got, it was worth it.

We never wanted to leave! Visited: March 2002
Posted by cmsweeney
My wife and I celebrated our honeymoon in March of 2002 at Swept Away. We wanted to figure out a way to stay longer. The grounds were luscious and mosquitos were only bad early evening. We also got a great massage!

We also got out of the resort what we put into it. On most days we wanted to chill out and relax. We filled out the card for the morning breakfast to be delivered at a specified time to the room. We enjoyed fresh fruit, juice, coffee, cereal, etc. We are early risers so this was 6:30-7:00. We then had an early stroll on the beach, then had a big breakfast in the dining area with omelettes (regular or egg-whites with all the fixings), pancakes, the most incredible fruit, assortment of cheeses, fresh squeezed juice, french toast, etc.

We also relaxed in the sun on the beach. Guests could have pre-lunch if they desired right at the beach. They served juice drinks, sushi, grilled fish and chicken sandwiches, guacamole and chips.

On the beach, they provided the best foam mats that could also be taken into the water.

For lunch, hot dishes were served or you could have a sandwiches, salads, or fruit and vegetables. A grilled fish was usually available, plus other choices that were too many to list. Some decent wine was available, but at Feathers accross the street there was a better selection.

During the day we usually tried some of the 20 different fresh adult frozen drinks to choose from. If it was not on the menu, you could tell them how to make it.

There was plenty of food, and being from South Louisiana we are pretty picky when it comes to food - and this was great. Usually about mid afternoon we made it back to the room and got cleaned up and took a nap. By 5:30-6:00 we got motivated and crawled over to the dining area or Feathers to have dinner.

Dinner was set up in white tablecloth and we ordered either off the menu or picked from the buffet. I usually did both! Feathers offered a more 'Emeril'-style presentation.

You could also grab a bottle of wine and go above the dining area that offered a great view of the ocean, or head to one of two hot-tubs and relax. They also had cliff-diving, which you could take a cruise down the coast with Rasta, the Jamaican singer. This was where we met some neat couples. We are booked for 11/03 and fly to Negril, it was worth it!

I had the time of my life! Visited: February 2002

We stayed with three other couples at Swept Away and had the most wonderful time.

The rooms were a little tired looking, but that did not matter to us because we spent such little time there. They were clean and that's all that really matters.

The grounds were very well kept, the lush greenery and tropical plants were beautiful and calming. The food was wonderful - the selection amazing. Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to experience Feathers, but other guests we spoke with raved about it.

We spent a lot of time on the beautiful beach near the Beach Bar where Terri and Jermaine work . They were the absolute best! I could never say enough about the staff. They were the most wonderful, warm, kind, helpful and fun-loving people I have ever met. It was a beautiful place, but it was the peoplewho will bring me back to this resort.

I celebrated my fiftieth birthday with my two sons and had the best time of my life. Everything was superb! The staff was very friendly and very attentive. I loved the rooms and having no TVs in the rooms was great - total seclusion.

I have been to several resorts in the Caribbean and I must say that Swept Away is by far the best resort. It was first class all the way, from the food to the maid service. Perfect!

I will definitely be returning soon! Hopefully, this year.

We enjoyed a peaceful stay. Visited: October 2001

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Swept Away in Negril and were impressed with the beauty of the resort.

I was disappointed with our suite, which was not nearly as grand as it looked in brochures. But it was clean and had a great view of the beach.

The food was abundant, but pretty repetitive, and I was left a little disappointed some nights. The entertainment was wonderful, as was the beach and the spa. We had the most glorious massage!

The travel desk was very helpful and the excursions we took were top notch.

The trip was relaxing, but could lend to a bit of restlessness at times.
The absolutely most excellent thing about this resort was the staff. They were the most friendly, helpful people we ever met.

Also, get ready to be serenaded by millions of frogs at night. At first, it was tough to sleep, but eventually they became a charming addition to our romantic week.

Fabulous Honeymoon Visited: August 2001

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Swept Away and can't wait to go back!

The resort is jungle-like and gives the seclusion we were looking for—a complete getaway. No phones, no TV, no hustle-and-bustle. We enjoyed the leisure activities available when we wanted and lazed in the hammocks when we wanted. We danced and ate and rested! It was fabulous!

We can't say enough about the staff at Swept Away. They are wonderful. Each staff member we encountered was attentive, kind and went out of their way to make our vacation spectacular.

We were certainly “swept away!"
