My husband and I go to Jamaica often, and usually stay in the larger areas of the island. But this time we decided on a quiet vacation. We made a perfect pick!
This place gave us a true feel of Jamaica, not just "vacation". It was located 20 minutes out of Port Antonio, but was an amazing place to stay, with beautiful views. We were able to see the dreamy castle of the owner, whom we met on several occasions.
The food was to die for. It was a little pricy, but after we tasted it, it was worth it.
If relaxation is what you're after, and you rent a car, this is the place to go! |

Beautiful, but unimpressive below the surface Visited: June 2001 |

The villas are beautiful and are true to the pictures on the website; however, on closer inspection, the Trident could use a lot of renovation.
Our villa had peeling paint, cracks in the ceiling, rust stains on the wall, and no working refrigerator. (One was provided by the end of our stay.) The staff was friendly and helpful, but not very efficient at times.
Attended a wedding reception at the Trident Castle which was beautiful and had great service.
In conclusion, the hotel should have provided much better value for the money. |

Overrated and in need of repair Visited: February 2001 |

We were not impressed with the service or food. The Castle was in need of repair. Two of the 7 air-conditioners were broken when we arrived and one was never fixed. One room had no air-conditioning at all.
The beach was small and unkept as well. We never had a waiter poolside. We felt like for the money we should have had better accommodations and service. |

We had a group of 12 at the Trident. It was absolutely the best vacation any of us had ever had. The service was excellent! We never could have asked for anything better. Anything we wanted was provided. The food was superb! The staff was incredible. We enjoyed every minute of our vacation.
If you want a nice, relaxing visit to the island, this is the only place to go! We would go back again and again!
