Lilac Mist provided us a peaceful and luxurious vacation. Visited: August 2003 Posted by cbirrell86 We absolutely loved this place. We could not have asked for more. The villa was very spacious and extremely clean. The staff was excellent. We did the all-inclusive package and the food was wonderful. I could have lived off the fruit alone. The chef prepared three meals a day and usually left us with some extra sweets at night as well. Our bartender came to the beach regularly to check on us and see if we needed anything to drink. The beach area was very clean. I was surprised that the beach was not private and a little nervous at first. I was afraid that the vendors would pester us a lot. That was not the case at all. There was also a security guard who prohibited others from using the beach chairs or volleyball nets. We did not leave the villas at all. We weren't looking for nightlife--just some time to relax. We were immediately impressed and enjoyed our stay overall - but there were a couple of snags we felt could have been communicated to us prior to arrival. For example, the private jacuzzi in the garden was not installed yet and this was not mentioned to us during the reservation process. We so looked forward to that and we were sorely disappointed to find that out upon arrival. The owner happened to be there and it took three days for him to take a couple minutes to meet us, much less address the jacuzzi issue. That was disappointing because for the first few days we were the only guests on the entire property and we felt he should have wanted to speak with us about the jacuzzi since that was one of amenities discussed at length on the website. Besides, the whole reason we looked forward to coming here was for that intimate feel rather than a large impersonal resort. They were also still doing construction on the five-bedroom villa which was in front of the one-bedroom, so we lost power a couple of times and there was some construction noise to deal with. Again, it was something we felt should have at least been mentioned to us during the reservation process. After a couple of days we were moved to the three-bedroom villa (the staff insisted), which was beachfront and had a jacuzzi right in front. The staff was incredible - extremely accommodating and very attentive at all times - especially when we voiced concerns about the missing jacuzzi. The food was excellent and the bartender was wonderful! The one-bedroom villa was stunning - as were all the villas. It was, however, not beachfront. So, if that is what you have in mind, you should know it was situated behind all of the other villas and you could not see the beach from there. It was a short walk, though - not across the street or anything. The one-bedroom was very secluded/private and romantic. We got to tour all of the villas and they were all incredible and romantic and private. People walking along the beach kept stopping throughout the day looking at the villas because they were so amazing. Although we ran into a few snags on our visit - I am sure those loose ends have been addressed since the resort is likely completed by now. We plan to visit again very soon with a few friends.
