5.0 stars A most excellent place to have fun, relax and eat. Visited: April 2002
Posted by Jodub824
After a lengthy search of where to stay in the Carribean, we found Breezes Runaway Bay to be an excellent value.

The rooms and beaches were clean. Activities such as snorkeling, super scuba, abundant water craft opportunities, excellent golf, and tennis with free professional lessons were all available.

The people who pampered us here were genuine. They had smiles, friendly attitudes and true Jamaican hospitality.

If you want high prices and glitz, stay at the Half Moon or Wyndham Rose in Montego Bay. If you want good food, entertainment, and more activities than you can possibly do in the time you stay, or just relax in the sun, Breezes Runaway Bay should be at the top of your list.

My wife and I stayed seven nights to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and it was better than our honeymoon. Many of the people we met here had returned for their third, seventh or tenth time -and understandably so.

We are definately coming back here again as soon as we save up for it. Kudos to Warren, our caddy; Seymour Rose, the PGA Professional; Albert, the Caddy Master; Larcelles, our super waiter at Martino's Restaurant on the premises; and Cheddy Parchment, the General Manager for running the best facility in the SuperClubs organization, with excellent, well-trained staff.

5.0 stars A great place for singles! Visited: March 2002

I have visted Breezes Runaway Bay twice and had a fantastic time during each visit. I have traveled all over the world and I truly feel that this resort is the best value for money.

As a single, you are not charged extra money for accommodations. The crowd at the resort (both times I visited) were friendly and of all ages - a combination of singles and couples and mainly Americans and Canadians.

The property was 100% better than the Club Med properties (I've been to two), in every way....great food, GENUINE friendly staff (unlike Club Med!), and clean guest rooms. There were also lots of activites, but you are not forced to participate like at Club Med!

I would highly recommend this property!

3.0 stars Now they have to renovate Visited: March 2002

We booked surprise, and we were not well
surprised. In the descriptions of all Superclubs it has 4/5 Star. But we found a 17 year old building, the rooms like a youth hostel. All the stuff is very friendly, but it is not enough, if you stay 14 days, like we did.

5.0 stars We had a ball! Visited: February 2002

We chose the Super Surprise for a vacation with another couple and were told two days before we were going to Runaway Bay. We read a little bit about it on this web site and were anxious to see how it compared. It was great!

Don't get me wrong, if you are someone who only travels for deluxe accommodations, you may be disappointed with the rooms. They were in no way fancy, but they were clean. And with all the activities going on, we were hardly in the room.

The staff was great and really got to know us. There was always something to do if we wanted or we could relax on the beautiful beach. The fact that they got all of us to dress in togas, sing on the piano, sing karaoke and enter a talent show says it all.

I would definitely go back.

4.0 stars Had a really great time. Visited: December 2001

My husband and I visited Breezes back in December of 2000, and are taking our son with
us again this April. We both enjoyed meeting the people at Breezes, the bar staff is great!
The rooms were average, but kept very clean; the maid service did a good job. My
husband and I are golfers and that’s why we choose Breezes. After checking out the other
resorts that included golf, Breezes had the best cart and caddie fees. Cart rental was $35
for 18-holes and this is per cart not per person, and the caddie fee was $12 for 18-holes. If
your looking for a really good caddie asked for Dave Patterson. Be sure to take money
because you must pay for your food drinks at the course. Beer was $3, sodas were $2.50,
hot dogs and hamburgers were $7. Give Breezes a shot, I think you'll have a really good
time.

5.0 stars It was fabulous as usual! Visited: September 2001

This was my third stay at Breezes Runaway Bay! I had previously stayed there when it was Jamaica Jamaica. What a beautiful property with great food, fantastic water sports and the most beautiful beach in Runaway Bay! The golf school is fun and the entertainment was okay.

I can’t wait to go back. The staff is great; the service is wonderful. The pool is huge and the rafts in the pool are great. It’s “irie mon!”

5.0 stars Fun, active, and beautiful! Visited: July 2001

I am a travel agent, and I stayed at Breezes Runaway Bay in July 2001. I loved it! The staff was very, very good, and always made you feel included, and welcome. They tried very hard to make sure you had a good time.

The food was wonderful, and the drinks were really good (too good!). The beach was a beautiful white sand, and the water was warm and great for watersports. Compared to other "all-inclusive" resorts I have been to where they charged guests for golfing, for night tennis, for scuba, for golfing, for catamarans, for premium liquor, etc, etc, etc, it was really nice to just pay one price upfront, and not have to worry about carrying your wallet after that.

I have to say that I have not found a better value than this (other than the Lido Lottery - it you're looking for out of this world luxury for a budget price - that's the way to go!). Anyway, I liked Breezes Runaway Bay so much that I am taking my boyfriend back with me this winter. We are really looking forward to it - I can't wait!

4.0 stars Exceeded Our Expectations Visited: June 2001
Posted by Monica_makins
We have been on several Caribbean vacations and Breezes Runaway Bay was one of our most enjoyable stays. The resort had every thing in the facility to meet the needs of a picky person like me. The staff was friendly and provided great service. The beach was great and all the water sports were included. The food was good, especially the jerked chicken, fresh fruit, and deserts.

Unfortunately, the suites were the only rooms with an ocean view. The standard rooms were pretty nice, with a view of the landscaping and pool. I definitely recommend this resort for anyone who likes to get the most value for their money and a variety of things to do.

5.0 stars Everything I hoped for! Visited: May 2001

Breezes is a beautiful resort! The staff, accommodations, food and activities are excellent—more then I could have asked for! We renewed our vows for our 10-year anniversary and it was handled beautifully. The property has a great beach with lots of chairs and shade! The huge pool could use a few more floats. I can't wait to go back!

5.0 stars Absolutely Fantastic Visited: May 2001
Posted by awhite4777
Firstly, my girlfriend and I are college students; thus might have lower expectations than most. But, we stayed here for ten days and the resort was absolutely fantastic.

The grounds were amazingly clean, the pool was great, the snorkeling was superb, and the food and drinks were both good. The entertainment staff did a great job of making it fun, and activity participation was good.

Our room was very nice, with a king bed, TV, CD player, loveseat and ottoman, and marble bathroom. Before going, I had read reports that said the housecleaning staff would turn off the AC when they came in and cleaned—but this never happened once.

Everything was included. The only thing that we had to pay for while there was a trip to Dunn's River, Coyaba Gardens, and craft markets in Ocho Rios, which was well worth the $35 we paid.

Overall, I highly recommend BRB. We got sent here as the result of a Super Surprise, and were extremely pleased.

4.0 stars Excellent value for money. Visited: March 2001
Posted by hicynthia
I visited Breezes last March and had a wonderful time. I booked as a single twin share and ended up without a roommate. The room was large and had a very nice bathroom. The food was good at the buffet and restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The resort attracts a good mix of people, both singles and couples, who are mainly Americans and Canadians. The drinks were great and you could even order premium liquor for free, which was a nice surprise. The pool and beach were very nice and well maintained. There are lots of activities to participate in if you choose, but you are not pressured into participate.

Compared to other popular all-inclusive properties, Breezes is a much better value for money and I would highly recommend this property to anymore wanting to visit Jamaica.

3.0 stars Very misleading. Visited: March 2001
Posted by ycampbell
My husband and I had a lovely time here. The land was beautiful, the beaches were warm and the food was magnificent.

The accommodations, though, were below expectations. The room was small and the "private balconies" were exactly opposite. Most of the balconies allowed for any guest to completely see into your room.

As far as the all-inclusive package was concerned, yes, the food and most of the activities were taken care of, but the resort also had outrageously priced shops and tours. A less than 10-mile cab ride to a local restaurant was $80!

The wait and entertainment staff was more than accommodating. I would say that we did have a nice time, but I would not say that we received the best value for our money.

5.0 stars Most awesome experience of our lives! Visited: March 2001

The brochures and website do not do this resort justice. Breezes was absolutely wonderful. The people were always happy and treat you like family. Once you meet, they will never forget your name.

The food was spectacular at all four areas. Our room was kept clean by housekeeping everyday. Activities run everyday, every 1/2 hour. Extra charge tours outside that of the resort are also available. The Dunns River Falls trip is a must! We also got married while we were there and it was excellent. We were well taken care of with goodies left by our door numerous times.

The ceremony was very beautiful and stress-free. They also offer a discount if you come back on your 5 year anniversary. The beach was beautiful and kept tidy. The transfer to and from the airport was somewhat scary, but we survived. The Jamaicans drive like maniacs! Overall, an A+++++++++++! We will be back for our 5-year anniversary if not sooner. NO PROBLEM MON!

5.0 stars A dream come true! Visited: January 2001
Posted by cocobean01
Everything about this resort was fabulous. It rained 4 out of the 7 days we were here but that did not stop the fun. There are so many activities and the beauty takes your breath away. Waking up a few feet from a balcony with a view of the ocean and the pool and hearing resort workers singing softly as they do their daily chores made it worth while alone. Everyone smiles and truly there are "no worries" here.

The food and drinks were great and plenty of both. The pool was in tip top condition and the ocean of course, was breathtaking. Drop whatever you are doing and go!

5.0 stars Number 1 resort! Visited: December 2000
Posted by hotrod25
I was there for New Year’s Eve in 2000 and found the place to be excellent. The staff was friendly, food was great and it was just a great place.

I would go back in a second. The golf course was okay. Plus, it’s a 25-minute walk to Hedonism along beach!

5.0 stars Best vacation of our lives Visited: November 2000
Posted by johnhn
My wife and I bought the super surprise package, and ended up staying here. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The staff makes this resort a great place! We ended up on a first name basis with many of them.

The free sports activities are great. However, the bicycles are limited to 30-minute guided tour of the neighborhood only. The food is very good, but Martino's restaurant is very disappointing. There are continuous guided activities. We were surprised at the number of people who were there and who had been there before. We definitely want to go back as well.

The rooms are okay, but poorly maintained. The pool is well maintained. The beach is clean, but not groomed. The reef just off shore is nice for snorkeling, but nowhere near as nice as the reefs in the Cayman Islands.

In short, this isn't a first-class luxury resort, but is a very nice place with an amazingly friendly staff, lots of activities and good food at the buffets. If you go, be sure to request the premium liquor for your drinks, otherwise you won't get it.

5.0 stars Wonderful relaxing vacation honeymoon Visited: May 2000
Posted by pmeyer
The resort was wonderful. It starts with a ride from the airport that is better than any rollar coaster I have been on (there are roadsigns posting how many deaths have happened on the road). The staff were wonderful when we arrived. The room was simple but very large with a nice private balcony.

The grounds were kept very nice. The pool, the beach, and all the other areas were always clean and the landscaping was excellent. The bar (a very important part of any resort) always had cold drinks flowing and one can have a good time challenging the bartender to keep up with you.

The food was good and the specials for the night were always wonderful. The fancy restaurant was very nice. The food was delicious. It was easy to make a reservation and the service was perfect. I liked all the included activities but took advantage of only a few as the main reason I was here was to relax with my new wife. Do not pass up the catamaran rides. We went everyday. On the big catamaran you get to see a lot (they take you past Hedonism) and it is a wet and wild ride.

The beach grill was nice but the hours were limited. But most of all I enjoyed the simple, laid back feel. I never felt crowded or rushed and I never had a hard time finding somewhere quiet to enjoy my lady.

On the down side I have only a few remarks. They need to air-condition the gameroom. When the wind died down it was very hot and humid. A little more variety at the buffet would be nice. These are pretty minor and I would not hesitate to come back.

We took advantage of maybe 25% of the included activities (we never made it to the golf course) and that was enough for me. I wished I had done more but the pool and bar had my name on it most of the time.

In closing, I wish I was still laying next to the pool rather than sitting in my office thinking about jumping out the window as I type this message.

5.0 stars We will definitely be going back. Visited: December 1969

There is something to be said about an all-inclusive resort when you talk to people around the pool and so many have been returning numerous times (some even 15 times).

This is my husband's and my first trip - not only to Breezes, but to Jamaica. We had no problem with the staff at Breezes, and service was top-notch. Sandra went out of her way to help us when we needed it.

Also, I loved the fact there were no children. The beach was clean and with an abundance of chairs. There's a reason why water aerobics are held at the infinity/swim-up bar area and if it's that problematic getting a drink (which it's not), there are other bars to go to.

We were just here in January 2008, and found it more than relaxing and fun. Vacations are what you make it, and some people just have to gripe about every little thing!
