Sandals Negril Weddingmoon planning was not easy.Visited: February 2007

Sandals Group Reservations is the worst I've ever encountered. Reservations for the group are not handled by the department, but solely by the bride and groom. This was not easy to plan the wedding.
We did not get our room upgrades - as promised, and the father of the bride didn't get a room when he arrived. We also had to pay a penalty of $2,000 when two guests needed to cancel their reservation within 40 days prior to the wedding - even though we found replacements!
The wedding and resort were five stars, and when we reached the resort (after hotel check-in hassled with every guest), we had the best time ever. .
My advice - do not go through Unique Vacations Group Reservations.

My husband and I were completely thrilled with our experience. The staff was awesome. They went out of their way to be helpful. The restaurants were delicious. The grounds were immaculate. I can't say enough good things about this resort. We will definitely be back.

This resort was great. We came here for my sister's wedding. I was a little nervous, as she wanted a fantasy wedding, and I had read some poor reviews online.
Well, they were all nuts! The food was the best I have ever had at a resort - and I have been to a lot. Also, it was very clean, with friendly staff.
It was the nicest beach and water. They had really clean pools that were smaller. However, the resort was very nicely set up never felt crowded. There was always a lounger to lay on, and there was no cramped beach, or waits for the restaurant.
It was quiet, and just outside of Negril. They had really friendly staff. It was excellent. I suggest you stay here. It may cost more, but once you come here, it will be terrible to go anywhere else.

We checked in, changed into beach gear, and melted into relaxation. We totally forgot about work. There was a variety of entertainment, activities and tours, and the food and beverages were great. You can do as much or little as you want, no pressure.
The staff bent over backwards for us. Paradise block ws the best for beachfront rooms. The top level suites, etc. looked fabulous - maybe next time.
When place is full, you need to plan a little, but no problems. Transfers to/from airport went without a hitch. The new road made it 1:15-1:30 trip.

Sandals is for the beach-loving and laid-back people.Visited: August 2003

We went to Sandals Negril during the month of September 2003. We stayed for a week. This was our fifth trip to a Sandals property and the second one to Sandals Negril.
In summary, Sandals Negril catered to those wanting to relax, enjoy the beach, and the water sports. It was not a resort that catered to those who like upscale facilities, fine dining and great entertainment. If you want a resort closer to a five-star rating, you should go the Sandals St. Lucia Golf and Spa Resort or the Sandals Bahamian.
Once out of Montego Bay, there was a fairly new highway (two-lane road) that took us all the way to Sandals. It was a pretty ride since it went by the ocean. It only took about one hour and 15-30 minutes.
The grounds of the resort were kept in decent condition. The facilities were not luxurious, but they were kept clean. The biggest asset of this resort was the beach. Since we went in August, we caught the end of a weather system but it only lasted one day. We had sunshine for the rest of the week. Advice to brides: Schedule your weeding before 11:00 am. This should guarantee you have sunshine.
The trick with this resort was to avoid the Deluxe-Premium-Luxury categories all together or pray for an upgrade to the Paradise Block. These rooms barely had an ocean view since there were too many trees in front of them and the rest of the rooms faced the highway. The best rooms in the house were located in the Paradise Block and the Palm Block.
In general, the food was not spectacular and the buffets were not of high quality. The service was very slow and the waiters/waitresses were not having any fun at all working there.
I recommend having breakfast at the Sundowner. For lunch, go to the Grill and get some jerk chicken and fries, and for dinner go to The Sundowner or Seville Restaurant (Seville was located at the Beaches Resort- a five-minute taxi ride from Sandals). If you want to have a good time while you eat Sandals' interpretation of Benihana, then you should visit Kimonos.
The night entertainment was pretty good. Every night they had live bands playing jazz, reggae, and steel drums. Day entertainment was the standard for any Sandals resort: Playmakers and guests playing games in or outside the pool.
The beach was clean and calm. You could stay on the beach the whole day if you wanted. You should go and do as many water sports as you can. A tip: The secret to get your beach spot, chairs, and floaters every day is to get up before 9:00 am and put a towel or book on top of them. (It sounds tacky. They should add more chairs and floaters.)

We booked the Deluxe Gardenview room to stay at Sandals Negril and the room was terrible. I've never stayed in a room that was so dark, dirty, humid, rusted etc., you name it. And our room was not exactly in front of the garden. The garden was only blocking the sights of cars from the street and 5 steps away from our room was the cleaning equipment room, which workers walked in and out of all night and day. Our bed felt so wet and we couldn't even use the blanket and pillow cause they smelled like dirty mop. Since October is off-peak season, the next day they upgraded our room to a grand deluxe beachfront, which was clean and nice.
The food was great. I would give "A" for service, and food.
Scuba diving and snorkeling: If you are uncertified, they only take you out for 30 min of scuba dive a day and for snorkeling, which is limited to 30 minutes a day. You have to hurry back to the land to sign up for those activities for the next day because the place will get filled up. I doubt that if you go to Sandals during peak-season, you will be tired of signing up and keeping track of the days and times.
Pools are a lot smaller than I expected and seriously, this resort needs to refurbish the Deluxe rooms.

Rooms were great, food was good and the staff was the best! We would go for lunch and dinner and be called by our first names, days after we checked in. The beach is beautiful and the sunsets are so enjoyable to view.
The piano bar staff Rumface and Viscious and Mario were great guys who made our trip even more enjoyable. The staff go out of their way to help. They always have a smile on their faces and sing while walking along the beach. It was great fun!

We will never stay at any other resort!Visited: September 2001

From the second we got off the van from Montego Bay we were absolutely pampered and made to feel like we were the only guests there. We arrived late and without luggage due to a missed connection. We were told to go eat and drink and they would take care of everything else, and they did. Guest Relations at the hotel was more diligent in recovering our luggage than the airline.
We were originally booked in a Gardenview Room, which was very noisy due to the traffic. We were promptly moved into a Beachside Room. Our room was nice, but the view was exceptional. One evening we got a bottle of champagne and watched the sunset from our balcony.
I cannot say enough in regards to the staff. We never encountered one member of the staff that was not willing to accommodate our every request. They were always in a good mood, and eager to make sure you were having the best time possible. Don't even think about tipping, they will not accept it.
The food was in line with the service - excellent. There was a variety of gourmet food to choose from. The only problem was deciding which restaurant to eat at. We did enjoy Kimono's and the Four C's, but you must try the Duck at the Sundowner. If you go to Kimono's I hope you get Neigle, he was an excellent chef and one hell of a singer.
Aside from the food and drinks and lulling about on the beach, there were enough activities at the resort to keep us occupied. The activities ranged from water skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and sailing. Once again, the staff was helpful in making sure that we enjoyed ourselves, which ranged from taking the time to teach us to sail (thank you Max) to running the ski boat through their lunch hour. We only left the resort once, which in itself speaks of the activities offered. The Chucka Blue - Swimming with the Horses is a must.
One note I would like to mention is that we were there during the tragic World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks on September 11th. Sandals Resort issued everyone a very heartfelt letter stating that we were in their thoughts and prayers. They also gave anyone who was unable to leave due to the airline situation 3 free nights and the 4th night at a discounted rate. They not only lost money on a hotel room, but food, drinks and activities as well. Before we heard of this we had already decided that we would never stay at any other resort, this confirmed that decision.
Sandals truly cares about their guests, and customer service is always top priority.

Very relaxing, very romantic, very nice.Visited: July 2001

I stayed here for a full week in July and found it to be one of the nicest places I have ever gone; and I have been to Jamaica 3 times and the Caribbean another 6 times.
I was here for a friend's wedding and that turned out to be very nice, all-be-it was hot as it would usually be (90's by 10am). The food was very good, although not spectacular, and the service was top notch.
Sandals Negril also has one of the best beaches I have ever been to in Jamaica. It was very well maintained--rock and pebble free. And the swim areas are very large and nice with enough chairs and 'floaters' for anyone on the beach.
The only downside I saw at Sandals was that there wasn’t a lot to do after around 9pm. I think that since it is set up for weddings, honeymoons, and other romantic sort of things, they don’t have much mingling type of parties or situations. And with Hedo II right next door, I am guessing they want it this way to offer some variety to the wildness that happens there.
All in all, I would recommend this to any couple looking to relax, be romantic together, get married, etc. during a vacation.

Sandals Negril entertainment is pathetic.Visited: March 2001

This was our third visit to a Sandals resort in Jamaica. They have beautiful resorts but the entertainment is pathetic. The entertainment this year featured an Elvis impersonator, a lame fire swallower, and enough kiddie summer camp activities to make Wally and the Beaver puke. One might expect to hear some reggae or calypso music, but don't plan on it at a Sandals.
My wife is 28 and I am 34, so playing games like musical chairs is not age appropriate. So if you want a great resort and you hate reggae and you enjoy kiddie games then Sandals is for you.

This place touted as a deluxe resort? Please...
After spending our first Jamaican vacation at another top resort in Negril, Sandals Negril pales in comparison. The beach was cramped, our room a rusted, carpet frayed, smoke-smelling, dingy, windowless, dated nightmare. No one to meet and greet us upon check-in. We had to go find someone to do this, and the person we did find was not hospitable.
The Four C's restaurant had good food, but terrible service. The "towel tag" rule was in effect, meaning that we were only allowed to have two towels for the beach and if we lost them, it was $10 charge. Is this a policy of a deluxe all-inclusive resort? The service here is sorely lacking. (There’s very little attention to detail!)
Finally, our sentiments about this resort and its clientele can be echoed in the words of a German couple we met there. They chose Sandals because it was "couples only" and they wanted a peaceful, romantic stay, somewhere where there would not be kids screaming around the pool. At Sandals, they found a bunch of adults, drunk and screaming around the pool, and were sorely disappointed in their choice, as we were. We won't be back.
If you want to spend this kind of money and have an ultra all-inclusive vacation where every whim is catered to, and you are pampered beyond belief, you won't get it here.

My husband and I recently stayed at Sandals, Negril and took advantage of the WeddingMoon package. The wedding staff were wonderful and exceeded all of our expectations.
We had a beautiful beachfront room with a wonderful view of the ocean to watch their famous sunsets. The service was incredible.

My husband and I just returned from a 7 night stay at Sandals in Negril. Our room was great, right on the beach and we watched the fabulous sunsets every night. We enjoyed the variety in going to the other properties located within a reasonable distance from each other. Bus ride to Negril leaves alot to be desired and not for the weak--take the plane.
We enjoyed all the amenities of the all-inclusive, many watersports available. We were not pleased with the divemaster at Sandals but we found excellent and professional service at the dive shop at Beaches.

We had the time of our lives. My husband and I went to Sandals Negril for our Weddingmoon and it was everything a girl can dream of for her wedding. We could have not been more pleased.
We spent our days in the swim-up pool bar playing volleyball, soaking up the sun and kidding around with Randy (the bartender). We spent every night at the Piano Bar with Kevin, Carrie and Roy. The staff made such a memory out of this trip.

Our first trip to Jamaica. Spent a week and had a blast. We became good friends with the bar staff. Say hello to Carlos, Donald & Bunny. We're returning in November of 2000. The food is very good and you'll get plenty to eat. A wonderful place!
