They provided peaceful cabins in the jungle. Visited: January 2003
Posted by smortimer
I stayed here with a friend for three nights. Basically, the place was about what I expected. It was fun to have our our private bungalow, and it was really cool to sit on our balcony surrounded by jungle plants including flowers and a mango tree.

The food was very good, we especially liked breakfast. The nightly seafood offerings were at least as good as what we had at a famous seafood restaurant in Negril. The dining hall/central area was a magnificent structure, totally open-air with great views of the woods and birds occasionally flying through.

The things we didn't like: we got a cabin that was right next to the road, which was a busy highway, with cars, buses, and motorcycles screaming by at all hours. Also, everyone in Jamaica honks at each other, which did not help matters. Definitely be sure to ask for a cabin away from the road.

There was a room safe, but the front desk told us they lost the key. This proved to not be a problem for us - the security for the whole resort was excellent. I felt very safe inside.

The water pressure was extremely low, I tried to shower before dinner and there was only a trickle coming out of the shower. Also, something was wrong with the room phone and it wouldn't allow us to make calls, despite repeated requests to the front desk.

Almost everyone at the resort was Italian the week we were here. We had hoped to find some other singles, but there were none at this resort. We wandered across the street to the mega-resort on the beach, and the party scene was even worse there, with the older crowd resembling a cheesy episode of The Love Boat. We preferred the less drunk and more sophisticated Italians.

Negril Cabins had its own beach area, with picnic tables and chairs, and a grill and bar going all afternoon. If you are looking to party down at night, you might want to stay closer to the center of Negril on Seven Mile Beach, it's a long taxi ride to get down to the reggae clubs.

Negril Cabins was across the road from the beach, it was a bit of a walk to get there. We didn't feel safe walking to the beach at night, as it required a long walk through a wooded area. This may change, as it looks like two more mega-resorts are going in next store. These will also change the character of the beach - right now it's very uncrowded.

The whole feel of the place was decidely less homogenous and corporate than the other all-inclusives. Overall, it was a great eco-alternative to the all-inclusive resort. If you want a place near the beach and yet peaceful and relaxing, this is a great choice.

I loved it! I am only 13 years old, but I made at least 20 friends! It was such a great experience. I just felt at home because the people here were so nice and wonderful.

Wow! They are great! Visited: December 2002

This is a true Negril experience! The cabins are neat and clean, the staff is among the friendliest you'll ever meet! My two kids (10 & 12) and I were very well taken care of and always felt safe.

The property is well maintained and very lush/tropical. No matter your native language-Italian, German, English, French- most of the staff are fluent in all of these! We feel we have made friends for life at Negril Cabins - you will too!

I love this place! Visited: August 2002

We came here on a spur of the moment in the middle of the night because we were unhappy with previous accommodations we had at another facility. The staff was so accommodating.

The cabins were situated in a rainforest and there were no bugs. Everything had such a natural beauty and it was not too rustic. Even though the hotel was to simulate a cabin in the rainforest, we never felt like we were roughing it. We always felt like we were in a five star hotel.

My husband I spent our honeymoon here and we absolutely loved it. If we were to come back to Negril, this is the only place I would stay.

The place to stay on Bloody Bay! Visited: April 2000
Posted by ATraveler
In April 2000, our family will be returning for the 5th time to Negril Cabins. It is one of those truly rare places a family can go to really let your hair down and relax. Our 3 kids 9,13, and 14 love it. It is so private that just a short way down the beach we can all go skinny-dipping as a family and feel the entire bay belongs just to us.

The grounds are also very interesting with the lush vegetation. Imagine "The Swiss Family Robinson" experience and you have the idea. Negril cabins are secluded but not too far to access great restaurants and nearby entertainment. Best of all their rates are very reasonable, the people are well behaved and everyone behaves themselves. Our family loves it and I think yours will too.

First time to Negril Visited: November 1999

This was our first visit to Negril. The Cabins were very unique and comfortable, although we have a few complaints. Our Cabin was very close to the dining area. When the staff was preparing for breakfast they would wheel their carts out with dishes etc. and the noise would wake us up from our sleep in the morning. We never had an opportunity to sleep in at all.

As well at night around 11:00 pm we were burdened again with the noise of carts being pushed around with dishes and if we had fallen asleep we were awoken up again. We advised the Sunquest Representative and she advised something would be done, however, we were never offered a different Cabin. Needless to say, we were lacking sleep on our vacation. If we could of had a room farther away from the noise of the dining area, we would of been a lot happier.

The grounds are kept immaculate and the beach is just a short walk from the resort. The beach is beautitful and clean and the water shades of turquoise were awesome. Also, snorkeling is available with a private boat available right from the beach.

Town was about 15 to 20 minutes from the resort. Don't exchange your money at the resort it is 3 to 4 cents less than in town at the Cambrio bank located right beside the De Buss on Negril Beach.

If you like jerk chicken, we recommend the De Buss Bar and Grill. We went back four times for their Jerk Chicken. Also we recommend The Pickled Parrot over Ricks Cafe. We found the Parrot to have a better view and safer cliffs to jump off. The water was amazing there the colors unreal. All in all, if we could have a room away from noise we would go back to Negril Cabins. The food was buffet style and only once were we disappointed.

Staff was very friendly and that was a bonus as well.

Negril is beautiful and we will go back again.
