What a wonderful resort. Visited: December 2006

Grand Lido Braco is a wonderful resort. My wife and I have stayed here four times, and we are going back in the summer of 2008.

The staff here are the best, and we have stayed in a lot of places in Jamaica. Sania and Marcia are the two best for my wife and me. They are wonderful and fun to shoot the breeze with. Everybody at this resort is wonderful.

The food here is great for an all-inclusive resort. At the French and Japanese restaurants, you have to have reservations for. However, for the rest, you do not. The Reggae Cafe is the best place for lunch. They serve great Jamaican food.

You cannot go wrong by coming here.

It was just beautiful. Visited: November 2005

We were bumped from another resort for two nights to the Lido, and it was the best thing that could've happened to us.

The beach was long and white. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The whole complex was like a town, and the food was wonderful. They were still building when we were here, but I've heard that it's finished.

The ocean was too rough for us to do any of the water sports, but there was enough on the grounds to keep us busy. We loved the place.

This was our second stay here. Visited: November 2005

This was our second visit to Braco. It was a mom and daughter trip. Our previuos trip was April of 2003.

Braco was a beautiful resort. They had lovely grounds, likened to a small village atmosphere with beautiful courtyards and fountains. Unfortunately, the weather was horrible in November. However, staff went out of their way to provide extra activities to keep everyone pleased. Also, the staff went out of its way to get to know the guests.

We stayed in the oceanfront room, which looked directly onto the water. You can't go wrong here if you want a super all-inclusive. Everything was included.

Dining was buffet style in the main dining room. There were two restaurants - a Japanese steakhouse and a wonderful French restaurant, both require reservations. We made ours the day we arrived to get the time and day we wanted.

Make sure you meet Carl, the social director. He'll make sure you never have a dull evening. As far as travel to Ocho Rios or Negril. Braco was quite secluded. Ochio Rios was approximately an hour and half by car. Also, the ongoing construction of a major highway would undoubtedly make it longer. So, if you're looking to bar hop in Ochio Rios - it's a haul.

But if you're content in a lovely self-contained resort with plenty going on, Braco is for you!

This was our best vacation ever! Visited: March 2005
Posted by deeandbrian2000
We just returned from Grand Lido Braco, and I felt compelled to write this review. I researched numerous web sites before choosing Braco. Some of the reviews I recently read had me second guessing my decision.

Grand Lido Braco exceeded my expectations in every way imaginable. The entertainment staff was great! Carla, Carl, Hioka, Z, Rohan, Orlando, and Devlin made my trip worth while. They knew our names by the second day, and they always greeted us with smiles and hugs.

My husband and I are in our 30s, and we found the age varied from twenty-something honeymooners to mature adults. We had no problem socializing in any circle. We met wonderful people of all ages.

We were repeat guests to Grand Lido as we previously visited the former Grand Lido Sans Souci. Both were nice, but Braco had more activities. Every day at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., we played volleyball in the pool. There was a golf course on site, and I played for the first time ever! In addition, we attended many theme night parties: pajama party, toga party, beach party, street party, and casino night with crab races.

Some of the things I loved most about Grand Lido Braco were: entertainment staff/activities, 24-hour room service (included), laundry service (included), dry cleaning service (included), rose water spritzes at the pool and the beach, fresh fruit provided by the fruit lady at the pool and the beach, and serenades on the beach.

We also enjoyed top notch alcohol (including Johnny Walker Black, Bailey's, Frangelica, Courvoisier, and Jack Daniels), and outstanding food (lobster, filet mignon, shrimp, and pasta). We were able to order room service to be delivered to the hot tub. A phone was provided in the hot tub area for this purpose.

My husband and I switched rooms after the first night as we wanted a refrigerator in our room. We upgraded to a suite with one and a half baths and a large living room (with sofa, desk and chair, wet bar and TV).

The bedroom was separate from the living room, and it had another TV. A hideaway door separated the living room from the bedroom. Both areas had ceiling fans and air conditioners. We were literally right on the beach. We always book beachfront rooms, but this was by far, the closest we have ever been to the ocean!

In closing, we have traveled throughout the Caribbean (Aruba, Jamaica, Bahamas, Riviera Maya, USVI) as well as London, Sao Paolo (Brazil) and Paris. This was by far, the best trip we have ever taken!

What a great place, mon! Visited: July 2002

We visited Grand Lido Braco July 25-29 for my cousin's wedding. We flew Air Jamaica from Atlanta. All was on time and without problems. We arrived Montego Bay, then to Superclubs desk and waited for about 10 minutes and got on bus to resort. Sidenote: there were water fountains by the restrooms in the main terminal.

The porters who carried our luggage to the bus would not let us on unless we tipped them. That was very tacky. The ride was uneventful, albeit bumpy. We rode in a small little van/bus type thing. The driver was very nice and pointed things out to us as we rode. He also gave us the choice of going straight through without a break, thus, making the trip only about one hour.

We arrived at Braco and the bags were unloaded from the bus. Make sure you get your bags before you walk away. My uncle had one go to Hedo III and it took a couple of days to get it back.

It was a nice resort...and check-in was a breeze. They gave us towels and cold drinks. We had a garden view room and it was great! It was clean and large, with a nice bathroom, robe, slippers, and was very convenient to the center of the resort.

The resort was small but we never felt crowded. The food was amazing. I've been to Mexico, Barbados, Dominican Republic, amd Cozumel, and this was the best resort food ever! They offered buffets for breakfast and lunch, and a la carte for dinner.

The staff was wonderful. We had some rousing games of pool volleyball every day. We thoroughly enjoyed that.

The wedding went off without a hitch. They really took good care of us. My cousin said the wedding coordinator at Braco was top notch. Also, all of the staff at Braco was top notch.

The beach was another story. If you like the beach, then this might not be the resort for you. It was very rocky. If you wore sandals in the water it might not be so bad, but who wants that! I heard the beach was better on the clothing optional side, but I never ventured over.

Leaving the resort was nice, too. If you were booked on Air Jamaica, you could check your luggage and get your boarding pass at the resort in the morning. So, when you hit the airport on your return, there was no waiting in line anywhere...you just went right to the gate. Now that is what I call service! We left the resort at 2:00 p.m. for a 4:40 flight. Kudos to Air Jamaica and Superclubs!

From very good to very bad......go figure Visited: November 2001

Wow, what a great way to spend Thanksgiving. Forget the family, we will do this again, it just will not be at the Grand Lido Braco.

We travel alot and to many different places. We stay at hotels, resorts, condos, you name it. Our expectations of this place were high as it came highly recommended.

The facility... gets an "A" here as the place was clean and well maintained.

Room... "B" could use some upgrading and mini bars are nice and much more convenient than room service. However, it was clean and right on the beach.

All inclusive... gets a "C" there were lots of restrictions and many different stories as to why we could not do something that "was included".

Staff... most get an "A" as they were very friendly and interested in us. Some get an "F". It is too bad when the few bring down the many.

Food... "A+" all the way to "F-". It was very difficult to get reservations to the specialty restaurants. The French restaurant was, with out a doubt, one of the best of everything we have had anywhere in the world. From the food to the presentation and service by Byron, outstanding. The Japanese Sushi restaurant almost blew the entire weekend. The food was poor and the attitude from the Sushi chief to host was extremely distasteful.

If you need to get away, this is the place. Visited: October 2001

I just got back from the Grand Lido Braco, as much as I didn't want to leave the place. My husband and I, along with another couple, went on this vacation. This resort is perfection! Anything you want you can have.

The staff is very friendly and willing to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. And the food, I don't have enough room to write about how good the food is. Just take my word—it is to die for. Do the Mixology Class at the pool bar; you'll love it. Everything is beautiful and we couldn't have asked for a better vacation. Also do the glass bottom boat ride, you'll love the "Captain" he makes the whole ride as fun as can be.

I've never been as completely satisfied with a vacation in my life, and we travel a lot. We will be going back next year without a doubt.

Very disappointing. Visited: May 2001
Posted by cafeaulait
I was very excited after planning my trip to Grand Lido Braco, but was equally disappointed upon arrival.

This was essentially like going to South Beach in Miami, Florida during a college weekend rather than being in Jamaica. Mostly American music was played (none of it live), the drinks were mild, and the "social directors" were scantily clad and gyrating to American music.

The rooms were okay, but the furniture seemed cheap. All of the five restaurants had pre-set menus (no lobster) so I didn't feel that I had a choice. The buffet was fine but overall the food, entertainment and lack of Jamaican culture was not what I expected from a "deluxe resort."

Super! Visited: November 2000

My husband and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and wanted to try a clothing-optional resort. We do sunbathe nude in New Jersey, so that aspect was not new to us. Anyway, we were so pleased with everything. The staff, the food, the cleanliness of the rooms and grounds; everything was picture perfect. I felt like I died and went to heaven.

There is nothing like sunbathing in the nude and then having someone spritz you with rose water -WOW! It was so nice to have our French doors open to the balcony and sit there looking out over the water with nothing on but a big smile. All stress and tension gone from the everyday life. If you want to escape to get pure relaxation go to Grand Lido Braco. I am a clean fanatic and I was very happy with the place.

Grand Lido Braco Au natural vacation - we loved it! Visited: August 2000
Posted by mhight_74
This was our second stay on the "Au Natural" side of Grand Lido Braco in Jamaica within 14 months. Our room was a 1-Bedroom Luxury Suite with 2 full bathrooms, large separate bedroom, living/dining room, and a walk-out patio onto the beach. Everything was kept spotlessly clean.

The "au natural" pool was lovely, supposedly the largest in the Caribbean; With its swim-up bar, volleyball net and lush foilage, you may never make it to the beach! The beach was separated from the main resort, and you could sunbathe, play volleyball and snorkel nude. There was also a 24-hour grill and 2 jacuzzis on this side.

The "rest" of the Braco resort consistd of a large block of textile rooms and a very large "downtown" area where all the restaurants and entertainment "happen." There were 5 restaurants to choose from. There was also dancing, scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, swimming, spa treatments, a gym, many bars, pool and ping pong tables, and weekly PJ and Toga parties, a beach party and a street dance party.

Everything was included - all drinks, food, entertainment, use of equipment, etc. No tipping was allowed and they had 24-hour room service.
A very relaxing and pampering vacation!

Fun, but don't expect luxury Visited: June 2000
Posted by rstafeil
My husband and I just returned from Grand Lido Braco. We had a great time - very relaxing, but the place was not what I consider luxury. If you've ever stayed at a Ritz Carlton or even a really nice Marriott - not even close.

The good things - most of the staff were great - very friendly, helpful, etc. The place is beautiful by nature. Some of the food is excellent. Nice to be able to do just about anything without paying. Golf is good - 9 hole exec course on-site which is fun to play along with driving range and putting green. The pro is excellent and offers lessons on most days. We got lots of individualized instruction on the golf.

On to the things that could use improvement:
Rooms - more similar to a Holiday Inn than a luxury resort, and somewhat run down. Tile floors, bathrooms with one sink and little counter space, no conditioner provided (all shampoo is in dispensers in the shower vs. little bottles). There is also an ant problem in the rooms.

The food at Braco is fine - the French restaurant has fantastic food, but kind of a joke to make guys wear a jacket and no sandals (not even nice ones) when it's 90 degrees outside. The Japanese restaurant is just like a Bennihana, but the staff does a great job and makes it fun. Italian is also good. The buffet restaurant (to which you're subjected to every morning) is mediocre. No variety from day to day.

Lots of smoking everywhere but the French, Japanese, and buffet restaurants. Kind of annoying because you can't get a way from it at the pool.

Drinks - this was one really annoying point for me. All their fruit drinks are made with mixers vs. with fresh fruit (with the exception of bananas). At a place that markets itself on luxury, I expected fresh fruit smoothies and daquiries similar to what I get at nice beach bars in other locations. Also, while you can get as many refills as you like, all drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic, even water) are served in really small glasses. If you bring your own larger ones they will fill them for you.

Overall, we had a good time, but the place wasn't quite what I expected.

Relaxing, yet exciting Visited: February 1999
Posted by ATraveler
We stayed in February '99 and never had so much fun in our life. We snorkeled everyday and tried all the resturants available. Never having to leave the property because it is all there was a great benefit also. Each staff member was great. It's a definite must see. Don't worry, we'll be back and it won't take 15 years.
