4.0 stars the staff here tried to sell drugs to us Visited: February 2003

you don't ever want to go to this place; in fact, Jamaica is dangerous with all the drugs being forced on American visitors by Jamaicans

5.0 stars It was absolute heaven on earth! Visited: August 2001

This place was a dream! We are from the United States, and truly we are spoiled. However, when it comes to the essence of the earth, they have truly captured it.

The staff was completely attentive, no matter how many requests you made, it was always like it was the very first request. The variety of foods was exceptional.

I was actually married at the resort and more than 40 family members attended the weekend with us. They were quite accommodating to my guests, as well as making sure the bride and groom were well taken care of.

Let me share this. After a delightful seven-day stay, we had our wedding night dinner by candlelight at one of the natural falls. It was the two of us and our intuitive server. It began to mist lightly after being served our appetizers, he immediately asked if he could move us to a drier area. We asked if in fact we could remain through the light mist, his reply was "No problem."

It was perfection personified. Please finish the renovations already, we are very ready to return. Thanks!

3.0 stars Restful with beautiful surroundings, some inconveniences Visited: July 2001
Posted by lmdpt1
Beautiful surroundings. Large room - some amenities missing. Difficulties in getting replacement bath towels (we waited 40 minutes after asking for new towels each afternoon), making long distance calls and charging purchases in the small gift shop.

Employees are pleasant and helpful, but service is sometimes slow. The three restaurants and the disco are 117 steps above the ground. Since several restaurants are open to the outdoors, it might be quite challenging to eat during heavy rainstorms. The fitness center has little working equipment. Food is excellent and interesting. The pool is beautiful.

It is about a 20-minute drive to the small private beach. (Frequent transportation is provided.) Food at the beach is very limited.

Located high on a mountain, it is difficult to walk down to town and harder to walk back up the steep winding road. However, if you want a good rest, this is the place to go. The grounds are very peaceful and nothing is crowded. There is nightly music in the disco and the show is very entertaining.

If you are looking for a hotel that reflects local culture, this fits the bill. Unlike some bigger hotels, it does not feel as if you have never left the United States.

5.0 stars The waterfalls stayed with me for weeks Visited: June 2001
Posted by benderx2
This resort was everything I needed and wanted in one place. My husband was in Jamaica on business so I had to find fun on my own for a few days of the trip. The staff there was a pleasure, and always made an extra effort to make sure I was having a good time. Every single staff member we encountered treated us so well, from the activities coordinators and lifeguards to the guys who swept the stairs and grounds every morning.

I chose The Gardens because I wanted some interesting things to do and see. This place was beautiful and wonderful to walk around in, relax in, or exercise anytime I wanted. If I felt like having fun, there was always something going on to join. I always felt safe, which is more than I can say for other places we went in Jamaica.

Actually, the bird aviary was so great. I went back several times to feed the birds. Huge parrots and macaws landed on my arms and ate out of my hands. I loved it!

And the waterfalls, the sound of the water was so soothing and constant that I could hear it even after I was back at work…heavenly. This vacation really stayed with me.

I knew the resort was not on the beach and actually thought the short trip to the beach was a pleasure. Everything was so well thought out, organized, and on time, that it was 'no problem' going to the beach for as long or as short as we wanted, any day of the week. We also went on the greatest ½-day trip to Dunn's River Falls and various other not-to-be missed tourist attractions. All of the outings were also well thought out, well done, and worth more than the price.

We did get stuck near the airport in Montego Bay after our flight home got cancelled. They put us up in another resort that was disgusting. It was huge with hundreds of people everywhere you looked. It was like being in a crowded smoky bar all the time. The stairs at Enchanted Gardens, which I thought were part of its charm, were nothing compared to this nasty place where people had to walk the equivalent of a city block or two to get to a restaurant or pool. I would stay at Enchanted Gardens again and again before I would chance a bigger, “super resort”; it was perfect.

4.0 stars A great vacation value. Visited: June 2001

I had never stayed at an all-inclusive resort before and didn't know exactly what to expect. As it turned out, I couldn't have been much happier with the outcome.

The room was clean but not overly fancy. The staff was very friendly and competent. The pool was a great place to come and hang out and meet people. The food was superb! We stayed at a much more expensive resort on St. Lucia and the food was not nearly as good nor the menu as varied.

The grounds were extremely beautiful and well kept. I had been concerned that we would not be staying directly on the water, but once I saw the property, I couldn't have cared less. I would say that anyone that would complain about the amount of stairs at the resort must be completely out of shape or totally disabled. My wife, who is disabled, was able to negotiate the climbing most of the time. If she got too tired, she would ask for a ride up the hill at the front desk.

I would highly recommend this resort as a great vacation value in a beautiful setting. We intend to return to Jamaica in a few years and I'm sure that we will stay at Enchanted Gardens again.

4.0 stars A very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Visited: March 2001

My husband and I had our reservations about going to The Enchanted Garden, however, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The staff was extremely friendly; they always greeted us in passing. The rooms were kept clean without a shortage of towels (as this was one of my concerns). In fact, when we arrived to our room, there were sandwiches, chocolate cake and 2 bottles of soda waiting for us. We stayed in a Standard Room and it was just that with air conditioning, a double bed, TV, and bathroom with shower, but no tub. We were pleased to see that there was a safety deposit box in the room, which was very convenient. We considered upgrading our room, but decided that the money could be better spent elsewhere, (given the amount of time we would spend in the room).

The food was very good. Amore was our favorite restaurant. We especially liked how we could spend an entire day by the pool without having to leave to get lunch; we could just walk to the lunch bar, restaurant or eat by the pool. We were also glad for the "Jamaican Night," which happened to fall on our last night. We had a chance to sample some Jamaican food and enjoy some entertainment at Annabella's Night Club (located at the resort).

There really wasn't any reason to leave the resort except to do some shopping at the market. There was no beach on site, but there was a shuttle service that took The Enchanted Garden's guests to their private beach. Here, we could snorkel, ride in a glass bottom boat, kayak, and relax. There was also a lunch bar at the beach, too.

The grounds were breathtaking, especially the waterfalls. The stairs, to get from place to place, were a little tiring, but really nothing to complain about. If anything, it made us feel like we were working off all of the delicious food we were consuming.

If you book through a travel company, we recommend that you attend the information meeting provided by one of the travel company's representatives providing you with information regarding shopping, money, Jamaican talk and cultural practices.

All in all, we returned from this trip feeling very rested and very pleased with our vacation to The Enchanted Garden.

Beautiful, just beautiful. The room was so much more than we expected and the staff was unfailingly friendly and helpful. We were unexpectedly pleased with the food and variety of meals. The pool was perfect for us and the activities were fun. It was very clean. We plan to return.

5.0 stars Absolutely amazing and breathtaking. Visited: February 2001

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We stayed in the Jr. Deluxe Room, which was very big, clean and didn’t have any bugs! I am not sure where to start. We are in our early 20's and wow what a time we had. Not much of our age group here, but we didn't think that mattered. The food was excellent and the service was even better. The grounds were very clean and beautiful. Leau Mirage was my favorite restaurant; try the Prime Rib dinner! It was very private, but at the same time you could be with whomever you wanted. We met a lot of people on our stay and a majority of them say they will be back to this resort. Young, old and all sizes can enjoy their stay. There was something to do everyday or if you wanted to just stay by the pool and relax that wasn't a problem either. Don't forget to have a Jamaican delight!

I can't even stop my ranting and raving about this place. We have been to few different resorts across the world and we absolutely love the Enchanted Garden. We will definitely be back sometime in the near future. We didn't try the spa facilities but we heard they were good and the same with the gym. If you are considering a great trip and not sure by looking through the books where to go, but have the Enchanted Garden in mind, jump at the opportunity.

4.0 stars Had a great time Visited: December 2000
Posted by lizlcole
I had a wonderful time at the Enchanted Garden. As a female traveling alone, I thought I might have trouble, but the staff went out of their way to be friendly to me.

My room (a junior suite) was huge, and from what I saw, the deluxe rooms were nice as well. I would suggest avoiding a standard room. They didn't seem to have balconies and were very small. The room was clean, with plenty of towels, etc.

The grounds were fabulous! The stairs up to the restaurants were a bit much, but then, I never felt like I was going to gain weight on this trip.

I liked the food, although I would have liked to have seen more Jamaican food. Otherwise, the food was well-prepared, and the service terrific. There was even a waterfall alongside the main dining room (I made sure to sit next to it every morning).

Next time I would go to a resort that is right on the beach, but then, I didn't leave the resort much anyway.

Overall, I had a great time!

4.0 stars Relaxation! Visited: April 2000

My husband and I went to Enchanted Gardens for our honeymoon without knowing what
to expect. Our room was pretty big and the service was great. Every time we came back
to our room there seemed to be more soda in our fridge and clean towels. The staff was
terrific--very friendly people! My husband actually won "Mr. Enchanted" and got a free
massage out of the deal, which was great! I would tell anyone who decides to stay at this
resort to get a massage from Olga. Every day my husband and I would look at each other
and have nothing to say except, "This is nice." The sound of the waterfalls was so
soothing, and the staff was really friendly and fun, too! We stayed for 10 days, which was
a bit long for us, but we will definitely go back. The only thing we didn't like was the taxi
service, each driver would try to scam us for more money. Besides that, we had a great
experience!

5.0 stars Enchanted Gardens is the resort to be. Visited: December 1969

This resort is awesome. My stay at this resort is one I will never forget. Everything about this resort is excellent. I am a Jamaican born and I was very impressed and pleased with the service I received at Enchanted Gardens.

The staff was very friendly and my wife and I really enjoyed the stay. It's a place where you can relax and forget about your problems and renew your life. I will personally recommend my friends to visit the Enchanted Gardens.

You might think the big name hotels have it all, but this place speaks for itself. The food is great, the staff is great and the surroundings are excellent. If you like scenery, then this is the place to be. This is no doubt by far that if you want to be somewhere secluded without a lot of traffic, this is the place to be.
