3.0 stars This place is good for kids. Visited: August 2005

The food was good and plentiful. The staff was friendly, and most of them went out of their way to help. They also made great drinks!

The pool bar should be open later, and they should serve food.
I only saw one clock the entire time, and that was in our room. It made the days blend into each other, which was great for us.

If you want to be alone, I suggest you find another place to stay. There were a ton of kids here.

There was not much to do at night for the adults, and everything seemed to be geared towards the little kids. It didn't look like the teenagers were having much fun either.

If you're going on the Martha Brey River Raft Tour, make sure you bring dollar bills, because they swim to your raft trying to sell trinkets. I really did not think it was worth $108 for this tour.

In addition, be prepared to spend an hour or two at immigration when you land, and there is no air conditioning there. Go to the line all the way at the far end. It was the fastest and it still took us an hour. It was the same thing on the way back.

Also, if you smoke Newports, bring your own. I couldn't find any on the island.

All in all, it was a pretty good trip, and we plan on going back again.

I got back from holiday two weeks ago. I enjoyed every minute of my stay here. The rooms were basic - but who needs to sleep while in Jamaica? Waking up to the wonderful beach view was phenomenal; something I could only ever dream of living in England.

The food was great, and there was a good selection for all you fussy eaters!

The majority of the staff was friendly - Stuart on reception, and Antoinette and Leslie were fantastic.

I recommend it to all!!

My family visited the Holiday Inn resort and were overall disatisfied. Myself, wife and child all became sick from the food which was not pleasant during a week long vacation. The rooms and hallways were not clean and the rooms need some serious updating. Windows were broken, showers were unpleasant, and overall the accomodations were disappointing. I do not recommend this resort.

I will try and be brief. I found the staff to be rude, the food to be terrible, and I thought the rooms looked better in pictures.

It took forever for us to be served a drink. They certainly didn't seem to rush for anyone. They also had to change my room three times and finally gave up.

The pool left my skin slimy, and the ocean was murky.

I thought by being a "Priority Club Member", I would have been treated better and would have received the "royal treatment". But I wasn't. I even asked why I bothered to join, and they told me that the only thing my membership gave me was late check out (2:00 pm) and access to the restaurants, which were okay. I was also told " you get what you pay for".

I was under the impression that this resort was a four and a half star, but it was really a three-star. I will never go back, and I was thankful to be home. Even the airport was so disorganized, it wasn't funny. Save your money!

We had a great time here. There were lots of things to do, and the drinks are the best ever. My husband and I came here with another couple, and we were always happy.

The staff was really helpful. The rooms were nice. But I was too busy doing things at the resort to worry about the room. Across the street there were lots of shops, and we bought a lot of stuff!

It was a great place. You will love it. Also, if you join the club, you will get upgrades.

I didnt enjoy my stay at your hotel. The hotel was too compact and needed modernising. The swimming pool was shambolic. In order to reach your full potential i recomend you make the hotel more enjoyable for families. Although i felt sorry for the staff who were amazing and most helpful.

I read the reviews on this web site and joined the priority club before we went. They upgraded our room, and our check out was extended until 2:00 p.m., which gave us extra time at the pool and the opportunity to shower before we left.

They were excellent! The taxi drivers at the SunSpree were very nice and informative (Rupert was ours). SunSpree treated our kids like royalty! There was so much for them to do, and they liked the food choices with the all-inclusive plan.

I have been to several nice and tropical places, but I felt so at home here!

The only downfall I had was that I find smoking gross and dirty. At night they had great shows by the pool, and in the morning there were a lot of cigarette butts laying around. I found that disgusting. We sat on the other side of the stage to avoid them.

I am usually leery of hotel rooms, but this one was very clean. I rate this a five-star!

5.0 stars This was a great place to relax. Visited: March 2005

If you are looking for that one place to enjoy some down-time - even with your kids -this is the place.

Last year was our first time on a family vacation. My wife and I were just looking for a place to relax and enjoy the sun, while still providing entertainment for our two boys (ages seven and five).

The beach was big enough to enjoy, yet small enough for any parent to spot their kids by simply just standing up. There was no need of running up and down the beach in a panic.

The water between the island and beach was about three-feet deep. My kids played there most of the morning and early afternoon. They would walk (swim) to the island on their own. Because the water was so warm in this area, all the kids would just look or sometimes try to catch the fish swimming around.

This resort also had special huts just for kids to go to eat. I can still see my youngest son walking down the beach toward us with popcorn in one hand and melting ice cream in the other.

On top of this, they had a beautiful pool area with lifeguards all around.

My kids didn't want anything to do with us between 7:00 and 9:00 because they wanted to be at the kids' club. My wife and I were very disappointed (joking, of course).

In addition, the food was great, and the restaurants were very accommodating.

Suffice it to say, we are back again this year for two weeks!

My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves here. For our first far away trip, it was wonderful.

The hotel really wasn't a four-star property compared to what we might be accustomed to. If you are looking for something like that, pay the big money and go there.

There were a lot of children here. So if you don't like kids, this is not the place for you. I have three children, but I didn't bring them. But it did not bother me to see all the children running around.

The rooms were clean - not shiny clean - but alright. The food was good. They seemed to have a lot of the same things every night, but I enjoyed it. We took some day trips and enjoyed them, too. Overall, this hotel was great.

Holiday Inn SunSpree was a very relaxing place to get away. There was a ton of things for my sister and me to do.

We had such a good time, we came here twice in eight weeks. The staff was very kind and outgoing. The entertainment was what was the best part of the entire trip, though. They always had us doing something while we were sitting by the pool.

I have recommended this resort to all my family and friends, and I will be back next year!

I have just returned from two weeks at the Holiday Inn SunSpree (six adults and one child). It was the best holiday I have ever had. Annette, our representative, was fantastic. She was available six days a week.

The food was excellent. There was just too much to choose from! The majority of staff was helpful and friendly.

Overall, we could not fault this hotel, and have recommended it to all our friends and family in the UK. And, we hope to be back again soon.

I stayed here two weeks with my mom, dad and brother. It was so fun. I met so many people my age. And there was always something for us to do. We spent a lot of time in their game room.

It was wonderful, and the people who worked here were very nice. I made friends with many of them.

I loved it here. We are planning a return trip during Christmas.

Sorry folks had to once again "big up" Holiday Inn. Visited August 2004 and again in February 2005. Great renovation work done. Looks fantastic. The island they built is great. Staff friendly, but a pity that most of the previous staff have left. Didnt seem to have that personal touch that I experienced last time. New management need to look into this closely. Didnt want to leave to come back to England which was experiencing snow at the time. Once again Holiday Inn has excelled itself, especially for a 3 star hotel, but once again I have booked for Christmas 2005!!!

4.0 stars This place was paradise. Visited: February 2005

My husband and I - along with our four children (ages 13,11,10 and 5) and my brother, stayed at the Holiday Inn SunSpree in Montego Bay from February 22- March 8, 2005. We were a bit worried about what to expect after reading some of the reviews, but it was fantastic!

The staff was brilliant. They always smiled and greeted us. The food was good. The entertainment very good, and the beach was lovely. We snorkeled right off the beach. We saw many lovely fish.

I read that there were pedal boats and canoes, but expected that they would be in short supply and hard to obtain. Not so. We just signed a bit of paper and off we went. They were right there on the beach.

Our room was about a ten-second walk to the beach. Everything was clean. The staff was constantly cleaning. They even raked the beach at 7:00 am. I read a review indicating that the bar staff didn't like making any unusual drinks. Rubbish! They were great. We'd go up to them and ask for "something different with..say..Baileys". And they'd smile and say 'no problem' and they'd come up with a drink. We had all kinds of great cocktails. The "Miami Vice" was my favorite.

The jerk chicken and pork were great. Guests could sit at the jerk chicken hut and sip a drink and look out over the water and lovely beach. How can anyone complain?

Our patio door didn't work when we first got here. We mentioned it to reception and it was fixed in less than two hours. Also, two of our children had birthdays while we were here. They made them a birthday cake with their name on it (free) and the waiters brought the cake in with them all singing. And they would often come up during our meals or in passing and ask if everything was okay.

We did tip sometimes, but we didn't see a lot of other people tip. They certainly deserved it.

The adult pool and swim-up bar was totally relaxing. Everyone talked to each other and made friends. Both Jacuzzis were really hot and lovely. We would sit in the Jacuzzi in the sun with a drink and it was absolute paradise.

We ate in the bookable restaurants a couple of times. They were very good, and we never had a problem booking them. The kids had a blast and were never bored! Apart from the beach, pool and Jacuzzi, they had pool tables, shuffle board, table tennis, tennis courts and table football.

The children were often too tired at night to watch the hotel entertainment, so they watched cable TV which had some great films. They'd just nip out for a snack at the beach hut (open until 1:00 am).

It was a fantastic holiday and we have already booked to go again next year!

The Holiday Inn SunSpree was very nice. I visited about a week ago.

It was very clean. The entertainment, beach, pool, etc. were awesome.

The only thing that was difficult was that the food at the buffet wasn't too kid-friendly, but there were plenty of more options. Also, on the day it rained (Saturday), there were a few continuous blackouts in the hotel.

Overall, though, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone with kids.

Overall, Jamaica was an amazing country. The weather was much better than Dominican Republic and Cuba. We were here fore one week and probably saw an hour of clouds. Bring your sunscreen!
It was very "Americanized". We could drink the water and didn't feel like we were in a third world country.

This resort in particular was very family-oriented. If you are a young adult or teenager I would not recommend this resort. It pretty much died down at 11:00 or 12:00 pm. And if guests made noise, security would follow them around to make sure they didn't get into trouble. The disco was pretty bad as well.

The food was good. However, we thought the rooms were disgusting. The sheets had stains on them, and the washroom was dirty.

I loved Jamaica and will probably return, but I will definitely not return to this resort.

I went to Jamaica for the first time with my two girlfriends, and we had a blast!

The staff at the Holiday Inn Sunspree made sure we had a great time. They were so friendly and relaxed. Harold, at the pool bar, made an awesome Miami Vice Cocktail. It was yummy!

Our room was cleaned, and the linens were changed every day. Make sure you sign up for the priority club, as check in is a lot smoother - no line ups. It was free to join, too. Because we were priority club members, we were able to upgrade to an oceanview at no cost. We received our three bottles of Tia Maria every night with some fruit. It was great!

There wasn't a lot of nightlife here, but we made our own fun. We went to Margaritaville...that was fun. But, it was a little scary at times. We went on a Saturday night and I would not suggest that as it was way too packed. We couldn't move much.

I do recommend this hotel as it was a very clean and relaxed place to stay. Enjoy!

I had a nice, relaxing time, even though it's a resort for families. It was organized, and the adults had a special area for themselves.

The food was nicely presented and good. The rooms were basic - mine was clean. The night life for singles or young couples was non-existent, as the club on site did not seem to attract anyone. You should look to go off site for dancing.

The staff was great. Drinks flowed just nicely. I was sad to leave Jamaica and the wonderful climate, and I would return to this hotel again.
