There are no words to describe how awesome this place is. This is truly my home away from home.
The food is wonderful, along with the activities. Never play connect four with Murphy!
The S.E.A. staff is amazing and very talented! I miss them already. They all dance so well and do not hesitate to try and make your stay as pleasant as possible. From the maids to the entertainment crew and the bartenders, the service is wonderful.
There are no words to describe what a remarkable time I had in what I now call "Paradise". Thank you so much Jack Tar Village. I will be back! |

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Jack Tar Village.
The resort looked nice. The rooms were okay, except for the tiled floors. The food was wonderful. The staff was very nice and polite, and they made sure guests had a good time. We enjoyed the relaxation so much we didn't want to leave.
If you go into town, make sure you get change in U.S. currency, don't switch to Jamaican dollars. Also, be prepared for the shark-like merchants! |

We have just returned from a great holiday staying at the Jack Tar Village in Montego Bay.
The hotel was friendly, the food was great and the setting was great. With only a ten-minute transfer from Sangster airport, you arrive here quickly.
The rooms were big and comfortable and cleaned each day. We had air conditioning and a satellite TV in case we got bored. The entertainment staff did a great job keeping eveyone entertained and I was always up doing crazy things.
As far as going out of the complex, it seemed quite safe to go out for walk as you are in the Hip strip of Montego Bay. Just turn right outside the hotel.
We were a two-minute walk from the bank and a 15-minute walk from the Margaritaville Bar. It had a roof top hot tub and a water slide to the sea. It was great. There were other bars, but we did not have time to do them all.
You may get some people coming up to you, but generally they are okay. You may get Steve the street singer making song for you.
If you go on some trips, they generally take over one hour to reach the destination, this seems to be wherever you go in the vicinity of Montego Bay.
We were sad to leave, as we could have done with a few more days but that's always the case.
If you stay at Jack Tar Village, you will have a great time. |

This was my third time to Jack Tar Village. Last year when my friend and I went, we didn't think it was possible to have anymore fun then we had. But I think we topped last year's experience!
We were so happy to see all our old friends. That was the #1 reason we came back to Jack Tar - the staff! Linford had such a sweet smile. We kind of missed having to pester him to take us the the safe deposit box 6 times a day. But he never complained last year. It was nice this time having one right in our room. It was also a nice surprise to see the irons and hairdryers in the rooms.
When I talked to people who hadn't been off the resort, I wondered why they hadn't. It was totally safe. We went to Margueritaville several nights. What a fun spot! You could walk down, but unless you are with a big group, I would suggest you cab it home.
It was hard to get back to reality when we got home and couldn't sit on the beach every day with a drink in our hand. Why can't people be this friendly back home?
I will miss all the friends we made here from Texas , St. Louis and especially California. We will be back! |

We just returned from our second stay at Jack Tar Village in Montego Bay.
I can't say enough.
The food was wonderful, the staff was amazing and the views were perfect.
The best part about this resort was the people - from the staff to the guests. We made so many new friends. Since the resort was smaller than most, you truly get to know the other guests. Everyone was there to have a good time, and no one had any complaints.
The best part was the staff - especially the bartenders (Andre and Douglas), and the SEA Coordinators - (Janice, Garfield, Tabia, Kayon, Oniel, Marlon, Andrea, Latoya and Koro) Wow! What energy they had, and they were super friendly. They made our vacation one we will never forget.
We can't wait to go back next year. |

We just returned from a seven-night, eight-day stay. It was excellent. We are definitely coming back.
The staff was wonderful. A "high-five" to the SEA staff (Andrea, Janice, Kayon, Koro, O' Neil, Garfield, Tavia and Andre). They made our stay the best. They made us want to get involved. There was never a shortage of activities, if you wanted to participate. Douglas made the best pina coladas (at the pool bar). Gladstone was great, too.
The food was excellent, with a large variety for every taste. The hotel sponsored shopping trips that were good.
If you want personalized attention, you must stay here. The SEA crew learns your name on the first day and will remember it the rest of your trip. |

My husband and I just returned from a four day, three night vacation at Montego Bay Jack Tar! It was wonderful.
Everyone at the hotel from housekeeping to the waitstaff was very attentive. I am seven months pregnant and had a wonderful time. Whatever we needed or wanted was right at our finger tips. The staff was unbelievabley friendly and helpful.
We definitely got value for our money- and then some! |

I returned last week from my third vacation at Jack Tar Village in Montego Bay. Each visit is more fantastic than the previous one. The food is great , the service is splendid and all the employees do a wonderful job to make sure we are taken care of.
The SEA Crew is so friendly and talented. They all have such magnetic personalities, and I certainly enjoyed every minute of my time here.
I am already looking forward to my next stay at Jack Tar Village. |

I just got back from a four-day, three-night stay at Jack Tar, Montego Bay and it wasn't enough!
Everyone from the bell boys to the cleaning staff made me feel special. They were always inquiring if I needed anything. And those smiles were contagious. You cannot help but be in a good mood when you are here.
Special thanks to the SEA staff (Andre, Marlon, Koro, Garfield, Janice, Tavia, Kayon, O'Neil, Clinton and Andrea) You guys were wonderful and fun people! There was never a dull moment with you guys!
God bless you all, and thanks for making my vacation one to remember!

My last stay at Jack Tar was April 2002. I have been going to Jamaica since the 80s. Once I went to Jack Tar, that was it!
From the greeting at the lobby and entertainment staff to the kitchen help and housekeeping staff, everyone had smiles that were contagious.
I never thought I would repeat a resort (how boring would that be?). But ever since my first stay at this resort, I have come here twice a year for two weeks at a time. I have made many of my friends repeaters also.
The resort has been closed for almost a year, and now is reopened. It is now called Montego Beach Resort. I am returning this November with ten other repeaters. I am counting the days until I can return. |

If you want to sit on a big beach with huge waves, this isn’t the place for you. But if you want to have fun with a bunch of real nice people - this is the place.
This is not a 5 star resort where you have to "dress for dinner", but it is a casual place to meet new people from everywhere and have fun. Every person on the staff of this hotel rates 5 stars in my book. They took care of my every need for both of my visits here, and they did it with a smile on their faces
The food is very good and offers a good mix of tastes from around the globe with some local dishes that you may have never tried. The bartenders are great and they all have their own special drinks. The S.E.A. staff is great and will all be your friends by the time you leave. If you stay here, I promise you will not leave disappointed. I can't wait to go back!
There are two beaches - one by the restaurant and one down by the pool bar separated by the nice swimming/snorkeling area off the sea wall.
There are two pools - one if you want to be with everyone and party, and the other one is very nice and secluded for when you and that special someone want to be alone. As far as the locals go, they are just trying to make a living, and everyone I talked to was nice, although persistent. Just tell them you are not interested and they will leave you alone.
I also want to comment on the review from Dan in New York. I have never been bitten by a mosquito in this resort, and I have never seen any ants.

I visited Jack Tar Village April 28 to May 3rd, 2002. I don't have enough good things to say about this resort. Everything you hear about the staff is true. They were the absolute best.
I am a very picky eater, and I was very satisfied with the food at Jack Tar Village. Garfield, from the SEA staff, was awesome. He sat down and ate a few meals with us quite a few times. Carlington was also the best waiter I have ever seen. The pool bar was incredible. It was a great place to relax, have a few drinks, and meet people from across the globe.
I've been home from Jack Tar now for a little over two months now, and I still wake up dreaming about it every single night. I can't get this place out of my head! On a side note, this trip was special to me in another way. I have my first baby on the way now, which was conceived during our stay at Jack Tar Village, Montego Bay, - due February 2, 2003. |

After reading the reviews, I noticed no one had mentioned how good the food at the Chinese Restuarant is. It is a nice change from the buffet, and the cook is outstanding.
I have been visiting the Jack Tar Village for the last 10 years, and each year just gets better. The staff is the best, they will make sure you have everything you need and want. It is absolutely amazing how the staff in this hotel remember the repeaters. |

It was our first trip to Jamaica, so upon arrival we did not know what to expect.
But within the first hour, we had a wonderful time. Dinner was on the beach and the show was great. The staff was very helpful. We felt safe at night. The beaches were very nice and clean, and we snorkled every day.
We met people from all over and made new friends. We hope to return to Jamaica and on our next trip, we will definitely stay at Jack Tar and tell our friends about it. We are already planning another trip back this August for our anniversary.
We highly recommend this place to people who have good personalities and who like to have a good time. The memories of the sunsets will always be in our hearts, as will the great people we met while we were here. |

I just returned from a fabulous seven-night vacation. Jack Tar definitely had a five-star staff. Everyone was wonderful and made my stay as enjoyable as possible.
Linton (Murphy), the lifeguard, went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed the beach. All the SEA staff (Andrea, Andre, Garfield, Janice, Kayon, Koro, Latoya, Marlon and Tavia - hope I did not forget anyone) entertained us day and night, making sure there was always something to do. They really gave it their all! I admire their energy! Thanks for the great job on the Tattoo Nicki!
And the bartenders were absolutely wonderful. Many thanks to Douglas, Canute, Gladstone, Clemente, Patrick and Floyd!
Jack Tar's location was perfect. We woke up to the ocean right outside our door and also saw the most orgeous sunsets. But it was really the staff that made it all so special!
Many thanks to you all - you made my vacation so wonderful! |

This is my fourth time to Jack Tar within a year, and each time just keeps getting better. The smiles and the hospitality never change.
Although I did get upset this last time with a little incident that happened after we checked out. But I won't let the ignorance of one person stop me from coming back.
All in all, the trip was great. Get ready guys, you will see my smiling face in August once again. |

Jack Tar Village exceeded my expectations! Visited: April 2002 |

Jack Tar Village had everything we could want! If we wanted to sit and relax, read, rest... we could. Or if we wanted to be active and social there was always something going on! The swim-up bar (our favorite spot) was a great place for meeting people from all around the world.
The staff here was wonderful. Garfield was my personal favorite, but not to leave out the rest (O'Neil, Janice, Kayon, Murphy, Latoya and all the rest!).
I'd have to say favorite bartender was Canute! But again, Gladstone and all the rest were great!
As for the place itself, it was very clean, well kept and secure. I saw the security guard often walking the grounds at all times of day, and cleaning of the beach and surrounding areas were constant.
The food was great. Also, if they have a Manager's Happy Hour when you are here, make sure you go! You get to meet all the managers and the head chef. It gave us a chance to get some great recipes and to let the managers know how pleased we were with the staff. Also, they had great appetizers!
We met great people staying here and have exchanged e-mails and sent pictures.
Neither of us had ever been to Jamaica before, but we both are already planning our next trip and, without a doubt, it will be to Jack Tar Village! |

Oh my goodness, what a blast! Jack Tar rocks!!! I already have my return trip for August all lined up and I can't wait.
My friend and I went down for a week to have fun, relax and party. All three things and more were possible at Jack Tar.
The SEA crew worked their butts off and their hard efforts show everyday. They were the nicest people. A special hello to Andrea, Garfield, Andre and Marlon. And of course, the sweetest of them all.. Murphy, the lifeguard. He made my trip extra special just knowing he was there every day in case I needed anything. Thanks.
If you are looking for a fun and exciting place with wonderful people to spend your vacation with, then this is it. The entertainment day and night was unbelievable. Food and drinks were all good, too.
I highly recommend staying here. My friend and I both have fond memories to last forever. I plan on going back many times. |

A good friend and I stayed at Jack Tar Village Montego Bay this April, and absolutely couldn’t get enough! We weren’t sure what to expect when we landed, as it was our first time in Jamaica. All we can say now is "Ya Mon!".
Montego Bay was the most beautiful place I have ever seen! At Jack Tar Village, when we came in through the main gate, we could see through the open-aired main building, right out to the sea! It had the most beautiful shades of blue and aquamarine you can possibly imagine.
The first staff we saw were Andrea (who checked us in) and Linford, (who brought our bags up to our room). Both were very sweet and pleasant, and made us instantly feel welcome.
Margaritaville was a must see, and a fun place to go to at night! Thanks to the SEA crew for pulling off great entertainment during the day and in the evenings!
We were fortunate enough to be in Montego Bay for Carnival, which was an event in itself! As two young women, we were initially leery about going off the resort property, until we did! Once on the Hip Strip, we realized that the local people were very friendly. Although you shouldn’t be naïve, most people were genuine and very nice! Even some of the shopkeepers were fun to hang out with, namely Raj and Dawn at Giftopia.
Again, the water was absolutely breathtaking. We could see so much when we went snorkeling. If you want to go sailing, ask the staff to take you down around the whole bay area! It’s absolutely great to check out! Thanks to Garnett for showing me the whole area, and for making sure we always returned safely!
The resort grounds were beautiful and well kept. The staff was absolutely wonderful, and very accommodating, not to mention a complete pleasure to be around! They went out of their way to make our stay a great one, and everyone seemed genuinely happy to be here.
The food was very good! Being a picky eater, I am pretty hard to please! I found the food to always be hot and fresh, and there was always lots to choose from at any meal. The dining room staff was very professional, polite and efficient. Thanks to Carlington, Dervin, Garth and Perry!
The drinks were always made to our liking, and they tasted great! Patrick was a great bartender and was always good at getting a laugh out of everyone! Gladstone was very nice as well.
All in all, I found that everything about the resort was way underrated, and deserved a huge five stars, unlike its brochure rating! |
