It's heaven on the beach! Visited: July 2009 |

My husband and I took our son, daughter-in-law and 2 1/2 year old granddaughter to Beaches Negril because we would all be attending our daughter's wedding at Sandals Negril.
The trip soon became more about the vacation and less about the wedding (sorry Amanda) due to the beautiful beach and excellent service!
Ninety percent of the staff could be rated as excellent, rarely someone would be just fine. No staff member was ever less than nice. The food was good, and the room was lovely. Seville and Kimonos restaurants were great.
Take bug spray, lots of sunscreen, hat, cover-ups and suits. Bring one nice dressy outfit for the Seville, and shorts and sundresses for the rest! Make sure and have a sunset photo shoot. Take money to buy the pics from the many photographers; they are great. Relax and have fun. I would love to go back. |

We had happy teenagers. Visited: January 2006 |

We stayed at Beaches Negril, and the resort was clean and friendly, and the food was delicious.
I have a 14-year-old son and a 17-year-old daughter. Both had a fantastic vacation. There was so much for both of them to do. They usually get restless by the third or fourth day of vacationing with their parents, but staying here, they didn't even want to leave.
We're going to Beaches in Ocho Rios in January, 2007, and both teenagers are really excited about it. We've heard great things about that resort as well. |

We stayed at Beaches Negril in January '06. This was a fantastic resort. This was the best resort we have ever been to.
There was so much to do. I have two teenagers and they were kept very busy and didn't want to leave. The hotel was spotless. The hotel staff couldn't be more helpful and courteous. The food was delicious and its presentation was beautiful.
We did wander off the property several days and never had a problem. The locals were extremely friendly and not pushy with their wares at all. If you said "no thank you" they responded in kind and never pushed for a sale.
The rooms were clean and stocked. The property was absolutely beautiful. The water activities were readily available, and the recreation staff was always helpful and knowledgeable.
We have already booked a return trip to a Sandals Resort in Jamaica for this July. We just can't wait and are counting down the days. Thank you "Beaches" for a fantastic family vacation. |

Beaches was not nearly as fun as Club Med. Visited: July 2005 |

We were a group of 17 friends traveling to Beaches Negril. I love Club Med and we decided to give Beaches a try. We were very disappointed.
Our bathroom spelled like a sewer. Our other room constantly had no running water. In addition, the staff did not seem to be very responsive, and we thought the food was horrible.
The pool water was always dirty, too. Five (yes, five out of the eight children) kids came home with ear infections, and the doctor said it was probably due to bacteria in the pool. The kids were looking forward to the water trampoline, but it was "broken" the entire week.
The positive was that the ocean water and beach were wonderful.
We ended our trip at the Ritz in Montego Bay, and the service was outstanding. The food and drinks were awesome as well. You are probably thinking "well, of course, you get what you pay for". My cost at the Ritz was $200 a night less than Beaches was. Ritz had an "all-inclusive" plan and it was the only way to go.
We are booking Club Med next year, and will never stay at a Sandals or a Beaches again! |

It was absolutely brilliant! Visited: February 2005 |

This was the best holiday I have ever been on.
It was only a couple of steps from the main swimming pool to the golden sand beach. The turquoise waters were just brilliant to look at while we were in the air. Also, the beaches offered loads of watersports like paragliding. They also offered Jetskiing (which is an absolute must!), kayaking, windsurfing, catamarans and much much more!
I loved it, and I hope you do (if you come here). |

Beaches provides family fun, but needs improvement. Visited: February 2005 |

Let me first say that we had a fun family vacation at Beaches Negril. We had previously stayed at their Turks & Caicos property and loved it. In comparison, Beaches Negril fell a bit short on their facitilies. It was a bit run down and needed updating. However, we did find that the service staff was better in Negril....more friendly and eager to please.
The beach was the highlight here. It was well cared for and clean, the water was crystal clear, calm and shallow for quite a ways out which was great for young children. We spent most of our time here.
There was fun to be had at the new waterpark. The lazy river was more like a crazy river and lots of fun. The two slides were more for older kids and you must be 48" or taller to use them. There was a hot tub that was too hot and a fountain of shooting water to run through. The waterpark was small, but a nice deversion.
The main pool and second pool were small and crowded with few lounge chairs for the amount of people. I much prefer the long and wandering lagoon pools that are popular at many resorts now. The water was especially cold and it took a while to get used to.
The food was plentiful, but repetitive and just okay. We mostly stayed away from the restaurant by the waterpark as it was crowded, had slow service and was not cleaned well. The pasta and pizza bar was very slow and there were long waits for food.
The main buffet restaurant was a more relaxed and well cleaned choice. The food was decent, and replenished often. The service was very good here. The Teppanany Japanese Restaurant was very good, but hard to get reservations for, so make them as soon as you arrive. We did not try the adults-only Seville restaurant.
The entertainment was lacking and amateurish for the most part, but was fun for young children. My daughter enjoyed the Sesame Street characters.
There was a list of teen activites each day, as well as daily pool and beach activities such as volleyball, basketball and water polo. The watersports area was busy with daily snorkel trips, sailing, water trikes, kayaks, waterskiing and banana boat rides available all day. There was no shortage of things to do.
We took two trips off the resort - a shopping trip that was a bit disappointing, and an excursion called "The Riverwalk" up Mayfield Falls which was fun.
All in all, we had a lot of fun on this trip. Beaches had a lot to offer as far as activities and a beautiful beach. It was not a luxury holiday. It would be just fun for a family who is okay with a casual and laid back resort who does not need to be impressed with fancy surroundings. |

We loved Beaches. Visited: July 2002 |

When we arrived at Beaches, our room wasn't ready, but we could relax and use the facilities.
I was awed by just about everything - the color and feeling of the water, the symphony performance the frogs and crickets put on for us every evening and the people! I can't say enough about the way we were treated, not just at Beaches but everywhere we went! I have never met more loving people anywhere else in the world.
Our days were filled with diving, snorkeling, wind surfing, kayaking Our kids loved jumping on the trampoline and just meeting other kids their age. Some of the people we met who were very helpful were Kani, who took us snorkeling and also drove us to Mayfield Falls; Ricky, our guide at the falls who was also great and very helpful; and Joan, who braided hair next to Beaches.
There were so many people at Beaches who were helpful, that I couldn't name them all. The musicians who performed at Beaches were top notch performers, and I truly enjoyed each and every one of them.
My favorite day was our trip to Mayfield Falls. On our way out of the falls, we took a route that was across a beautiful area of lush green hills, red clay, and cows. I can’t describe the feeling that came over me walking there - it was like coming home to a very special place. We went hunting for a mango tree and enjoyed a few of the last mangos.
I came back from Negril with not only a nice relaxing and yet exciting vacation, but a different view of myself, my surroundings and just what we Americans tend to put importance on. I came back with a reminder the fact that life can be beautiful, wonderful and can be very simple.
I came back with the wonderful understandings that there is only one thing we really need in life and that is a connection with each other. All that material stuff you can take or leave.

Beaches was a wonderful place to stay. Visited: July 2002 |

We just returned from our Weddingmoon at Beaches Negril and had a fabulous time! This was our first trip to Jamaica and we were very impressed with the accommodations of this resort.
This resort was far better than any other place we saw in Negril, including the other Beaches Resort.
I agree with another review that I read on this web site that the check-in wasn't very informative, the schedule of activities wasn't handed out until orientation.
Be sure that if you plan to eat at the Teppanyaki restaraunt, you make your reservations as soon as you get there. Our favorite place to eat was at the adults-only Seville. The Seville offered the best quality of food, but the least quantity. Thank goodness for the all night Beach Grill, where we picked up a cheeseburger later that night.
Snorkeling was awesome! Just be sure to get to the Water Sports desk as soon as it opens to reserve a spot. We didn't go scuba diving, but other people who did told us it was awesome, too.
The wedding coordintors were very good. There was a beautiful gazebo used for weddings. Be sure to ask for anything you want during your interview (such as flowers in your hair). The photo package was quite expensive ($150 for 12 photos for the cheapest package). We opted to bring our own camera and have family members take pictures. What we discovered was that the photographers came and took photos anyway - we were able to "pick and choose" which ones we wanted for $10 each.
The ladies in the salon did a great job on my hair for the wedding. However, if you plan on getting your hair braided, do not go to the Resort Salon. They were going to charge me $80 (and use foil instead of rubber bands). My sister and I went to Joan -next to Cosmo's restaurant- and she did a great job and only charged each of us $40, and she used rubber bands. You'll have to check out with the beach guards to find Joan - but I did see her on the beach quite often.
The tours offered through the resort were expensive, but I don't really know any way around it - unless you took a taxi or rented a vehicle (which I would never suggest after seeing the way they drive and the condition of the roads). We went on the shopping combo, which took us to two shopping centers and Rick's Cafe for $20 each (no meal included).
The worst part of the trip was the airport going home. Be sure to keep an eye on your luggage, as ours was lost twice in all of the chaos. |

My husband, our 11-month-old son and I just returned from eight days at Beaches Negril.
We cannot say enough about the staff. Everyone - from the men who take care of the grounds up to management - was consistently warm and friendly to us. The clientel seemed to be mostly American and we met up with a lot of nice young couples like ourselves with younger children.
The beach seemed to have a wider strip of sand than other hotels close by, and the water was calm, clear and warm with a gentle slope in depth. The property itself seemed to be kept clean, although the resort seemed to be looking a little shabby in some areas for only being about five years old.
Don't expect super luxury - even though you pay top dollar to stay at this resort. But we really didn't have any complaints, having stayed other places in the Caribbean.
The food was plentiful and pretty good. We certainly didn't starve. There were lots of choices with frozen and mixed drinks - ask for extra rum though.
The ladies at the nursery were wonderful with our son and it was nice to know that we could take him there for an hour or two when we felt he needed to burn some extra energy. The kids programs seemed to be nicely planned, from what I could see. Anywhere in the resort, our son was given lots and lots of attention by staff members in general.
Our only negative comment was that check-in was not informative at all. We were basically handed our key and taken to our room. Nothing was explained to us and we weren't told that we could go to an orientation that was held twice a day. Overall though, we felt that this was a nice place to spend a family vacation. |

We just got back from our holiday at Beaches Negril and it was definitely the dream vacation.
We chose this resort because it was a family resort. There were programs for children of all ages. Our 14 month old used the nursery and our 4 year old used the Kids Kamp. The children's facilities were spotless and child-friendly. Toys and activities were both ample and age appropriate.
There were also plenty of staff members and they were very friendly. The hours were fabulous--as they operated all day and until 10:30 p.m. (with the exception of closing from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.). This enabled us to have some down-time to spend with each other.
Parents could also book a private nanny for $5 an hour if they needed late night babysitting. Needless to say, we had a very relaxing holiday.
This was not the resort to come to if you don't like eating! The food was not only abundant, but absolutely delicious too. We were pleased that the food at each meal had a wide variety to chose from and included traditional Jamaican dishes.
The staff was also extremly friendly and efficient. Our room was very clean and comfortable.
The beach was absolutely breathtaking! The sand was powder-white and the ocean was the most beautiful shade of blue. The water was calm, which meant that our children were able to enjoy the water, too. We didn't take advantage of all the water sports that were available, but there were a lot to choose from.
The shows were okay, but quite touristy. The music on the resort was varied, but if you are a die-hard Jamaican music fan--bring your compact disc player and discs - we did!
Overall, we all had a blast. The staff was great and the facilities were luxurious. We'd definitely return.
If you plan to venture off the resort, bring U.S. dollars - and lots of them. Negril is quite expensive.

A long ride from the airport when you're tired on arrival. So much so we went back to MoBay airport by airtaxi, at about $240, ignoring our free minibus transfer.
The front desk staff are not too friendly and the other staff whilst pleasant enough were not well informed about facilities or events.
The watersports staff are grudging. The tennis coach though was charming and always willing.
The rooms were so-so, clean but not luxurious.
The food was ok but no more than that. The buffets in the main restaurant were about what you'd expect although somewhat lower than ClubMed standard; the fine dining restaurant was all white gloves but no haute cuisine; the food in the teppanyaki bore little resemblance to anything ever eaten in Japan; the Tex-Mex was pleasant.
Having said all that, our girls of 16 and 11 had a magnificent vacation as the facilities are extensive and they made many friends. It was hard getting the 16 year old to honor a 2am curfew when other teens sat all night by the bar eating fries and probably smoking things they shouldn't.
Negril itself is small and a rip off taxi ride away from the hotel. It is far cheaper to go out on the road and flag down a passing taxi. Also the hotel excursions were very expensive. Far cheaper and more enjoyable to charter your own minibus and guide for the day.
There were many US families there so plenty of opportunity to make friends for both adults and children.
Overall, if you have been to some of the stunning Far East resorts in places like Phuket, you'll be disappointed with the food and service and lack of luxury and you'll find it expensive for what you get.

Kids loved it! Visited: November 2001 |

I'm partial to Negril, so this was really our only choice when planning our all-inclusive vacation. Our boys (16 and 8) had a great time, as did the wife and I. We booked the lowest room level, which was just fine, as we didn't spend much time there anyway.
There’s always plenty to do for the kids so the adults can kick back. The beach was nice, but the roving parasailing/jet ski vendors could get a bit annoying at times.
Food was good, but don't expect any culinary miracles. The buffet had a Kid's Corner, which was great for those with picky eaters. The grill at the family pool is a must for lunch - jerked chicken, pork and other stuff for the kids (grilled cheese, wings, etc). Overall, the kids had fun, we had fun, and we WILL go back.

We just returned from our Weddingmoon at Beaches Negril. We cannot say enough about the great service and staff at the resort. They did an outstanding job planning our wedding and made us feel so comfortable and relaxed that we cannot wait to return for our 1st year anniversary.
The food was good, but the service was great. For everyone bringing their children, the staff will keep them very occupied and busy so that you can enjoy all of the other great amenities. The only downfall was the tours that they offered seemed overpriced. You are better off going out on your own to places such as Rick’s Cafe and Margaritaville.
Overall, the experience was great, the staff was fantastic (be sure to visit the piano bar at least one night during your stay), and the beaches were amazing.
