5.0 stars It was awesome. Visited: August 2008

I just got off the plane in Boston from CocoLaPalm. It was the most spectacular vacation. I lived on the beach all day long, as there were 23 people with us.

I totally loved this place. They had great curried goat, and wonderful breakfast. The security was very attentive, too.

They had horses brought to the beach at 5:00 am all tacked and ready to go. Each horse had a guide. The stable hands who came were very grateful. Everyone did a wonderful job. I galloped race horses for a living, and these horses were well up to par. If you can gallop a horse - this is the ride you should take. I had no boots on, and I was in a bathing suit. I tore my legs up, but it was worth every gallop.

It was an awesome place.

1.0 stars I suggest you avoid this resort at all costs. Visited: June 2008

Run, run, run in the other direction! I came here for two weeks, and by the fourth day, I was so mortified that I moved to a new resort.

Here's what I encountered at Coco La Palm:
1. Harrassment by drug dealers on the beach.

2. Sexual harrassment. Apparently, things as simple as saying "hello" to anyone who is not a tourist is cosidered flirting. They would not leave me alone. They will pursue you and pull on your hands to go with them.

3. Staff literally argued with me to give them more money because "there are a lot of us, and we split the tips, and it is just not enough for all of us!"

4. If you leave less than $5 for the maid service every morning, and I was shocked, do not expect to get any service the following day.

5. Very important: Pay the driver after he picks you up and takes you back to your hotel.

Other things I encountered included toilets and showers that worked so poorly that Motel 6 looked like the Penthouse at the Hilton.

There were also bed bugs in this hotel. I was bitten over 87 times! I slept in the same bed in the four days.

If money is a concern [and it always is], you're looking at $300-$400 per day for four people. I wanted to go home starting the first day, and I was at the point of tears thinking abount staying here for two weeks!

I called the airline and got information on the next flight home until my brother convinced me to just move to a new hotel.

3.0 stars My daughter and I enjoyed our stay in a Junior Suite. Visited: May 2004

CocoLaPalm was a pleasant place to stay while in Negril. I stayed at the resort with my nine-year old daughter. We have stayed in other resorts in different parts of Jamaica and enjoyed our stay as usual.

The room, landscaping and beach area were nice. The jacuzzi and pool needed refurbishing. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner by the beach. At the time we traveled, it was quiet, there were not any nightly activities; however, we were close enough to other attractions to walk or catch a taxi.

The staff was nice and friendly, as is often the case whenever I have traveled to Jamaica. I have recommended CocoLaPalm to others and will more than likely stay at the resort again in the future.

5.0 stars CocoLaPalm is a really good place to stay! Visited: March 2004

I’m just back from a short stay in Negril, Jamaica. After having read Wheretostay.com reviews, my girlfriend and I decided to go to CocoLaPalm Resort and it was a great choice. As we had only four days to stay in Jamaica, we were searching for a resting place in a town (Negril) well know for availability of every type of activities.

CocoLaPalm had many different types of rooms. We chose the standard-one and it was a real bargain -even if we couldn’t see the ocean from the room. Instead, we were in front of a horrible pink-hotel.

All the amenities of the resort (pool, jacuzzi, restaurant and, well, the beach) were very near as the hotel wasn’t very big. Our room was quite big and furnished well with A/C and an on-the-roof fan. However, the bathroom was small and there was only a shower.

We chose bed and breakfast, and the food served in the morning was acceptable (service above the average even if a bit slow). But it was not the top on the beach, and you could say the same for the lunch restaurant. We used to go out for dinner, so we can’t say on it but the show of the on-beach restaurant at the night was amazing.

The reception and bar staff were very friendly and they took care of the guests and tried to do as much they could (change money, paying a taxi, suggesting trips in the jungle).

My only negative remarks are about the pool (not very clean) and the jacuzzi (water too hot and needed a refurbishment), but the hotel was worth the price and we recommend staying at CocoLaPalm.

We hope to come back to Negril as soon as we can.

4.0 stars CocoLaPalm was a wonderful hotel, but the food was terrible. Visited: February 2003

My spouse and I enjoyed a wonderful week at CocoLaPalm. The hotel was unique in its architecture, and it was well maintained. The pools were clean and nicely situated.

The beach was the gem of the resort with areas for sun and shade, clean, white, sandy beaches and, of course, the beautiful Caribbean waters.

The only downfall of CocoLaPalm was the food. We didn't really enjoy anything, and found ourselves walking to other destinations for meals, which really was not such a bad thing.

The service was excellent and everyone was extremely friendly. I have never traveled anywhere where the hotel staff was so nice.

The prices were also reasonable. The nicest rooms were not so much worth the money. The basic rooms were just as good.

The entire hotel was clean and the beach was amazing.

3.0 stars Coco LaPalm is a good resting place. Visited: August 2002

I found Coco LaPalm to provide a nice relaxing enjoyable vacation.

In July 2002, I traveled to Jamaica with my seven-year-old, and we stayed at the Jamaica Grande. Even though Coco LaPalm did not compare to that resort, we were certainly treated as if we were in a five star resort.

The service was wonderful, thanks to my buddy Elrick Rose and the chef Rowland Campbell. Hopefully, I will get to visit again.

4.0 stars The CocoLaPalm was in a great location. Visited: August 2002

We took our two children with us this time (ages 6 and 8). It was great!

The Coco LaPalm was a good bargain. We stayed in a superior room. The rooms were clean and adequate. The staff was very freindly. This was not a luxury hotel, but neither was the rate.

The beach was great. There were no special activites for kids, but none were needed. The kids had the time of their lives. We did not try a sitter, we chose to relax rather than party at night. We enjoyed cliff jumping, snorkeling, parasailing, jet skiing, sail boating dancing, etc.

We traveled all over Negril and everyone was extremely friendly. Do not be afraid of leaving the resort. Jamaica was one of my favorite islands. It had a very rich culture.

Sure fire things to do: Go to the cliffs. I highly recommend the Rock House in the late afternoon - it was so relaxing and beautiful that we went there four different days. Ricks was okay to, but the Rock House was nicer. The beach wonderful. Negril was simply an experience we will never forget.

I can think of no better place in Negril than this. Everyone made our stay a pleasure.

The rooms were great. We had a poolside mini-suite that was huge. The restaurant had great food. The grounds were perfectly manicured. The beach was very well taken care of.

All this was very nice, but the staff is what will make me come back. Everyone made me feel very welcome. They took care of my wife and me like we were family (and sometimes I need taken care of:) Do not miss this all-around pleasent experience!

CoCoLaPalm left us wanting for nothing. The service was great, the people friendly, and the location was so heavenly. We were three women traveling together and got a Jr. Suite with two queen beds. It gave us a lot of room and even came with a beautiful balcony, which was large enough to hang out on. The pool was nicely maintained and the security personnel were ever present. And the cook? Fantastic!

We will stay again and any time wouldn't be soon enough!

Coco LaPalm is where you want to stay in Negril! It has huge rooms with all the amenities—big comfy beds and towels, cable TV, and is very clean. I saw zero pests or bugs there!

The pool is fantastic, the staff is so accommodating and friendly and their stretch of beach is far and away the most convenient and the nicest. They make great food, too. I just can't say enough about how great Coco LaPalm is. If you go, make sure that Michelle at the beach bar makes you a dirty banana; it’s the best on the beach!

5.0 stars Restful; a friendly staff and beautiful grounds Visited: March 2001

CocoLaPalm Resort was absolutely fabulous! We were swept away by the romance and the beauty of the resort grounds and beach. Flowers were everywhere and there was an exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. They even sent my sunglasses to me when I left them behind.

The Beachfront Grille was quite delicious, from hamburgers to island melts. Another bonus: There was a wonderful little Catholic Church just across the street. The padre is delightful and full of information about the area and local eateries.

Located mid-way on a seven-mile beach, this hotel offers fun and atmosphere together.

My wife and I have traveled in the West Indies for 10 years now, and we have to rate this hotel as one of nicer places to stay.

The breakfast on the beach is great, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We were lucky enough to swing a beach-top room, but the interior rooms are very nice also. The pool is in the center of the complex and has alot of privacy.

The owner has spent a lot of bucks on this place, and you sure can tell! Town is only around three miles down the beach, or the hotel can take you into town for $8.00. If you go, I know you'll enjoy.

4.0 stars Great property in a great location. Visited: February 2001

What a beautiful property! The grounds are the best maintained of any place we saw. Coco LaPalm is located right in the middle of Seven Mile Beach, which is great because nothing is too far away. The rooms are very modern and spacious. One complaint would be that the connecting doors between the rooms do not do a very good job of isolating the rooms. You can clearly hear every word spoken in the next room, which is no fun if you're a light sleeper, and someone is talking in the next room at 4:00am.

The restaurant at Coco LaPalm is quite overpriced compared to others nearby. Dinners are $20-30 US, while you can find great food nearby for $10-15 US. Other than that, we do not have much to complain about. The staff is friendly, and the security is great; you will not see non-guests wandering the grounds here. We would definitely stay here again.

4.0 stars A perfect mid-winter getaway for relaxation. Visited: January 2001

There were no "bad" surprises when we arrived. The rooms were large and comfortable. The daytime restaurant had the best jerk chicken on the beach, and the evening dining was also excellent. There were so many lovely restaurants to visit along the beach and the cliffs north of town. The people who chose the all-inclusive package at the big resorts missed out on the fun and adventure of Negril. The staff was friendly and helpful; they are not of Four Seasons’ caliber, (very close) but thank goodness, either were their prices. Be sure to try the massage because the masseuse has been well trained. It was a great way to relax after the drive from Montego Bay. Next time we plan to fly into Negril because it will be awhile until they get the new road completed. I think the adult pool was a nice addition.

5.0 stars The only place to stay in Negril! Visited: February 2000
Posted by queenwheels
The staff is the best. Chris and Denise have a great crew and have made Coco LaPalm a haven for us. The food is good. The rooms are clean and efficient. The pool is clean and a great place to take a break from the ocean. The security is excellent. Every wish was granted for us.

Our only suggestion would be to have a waitress/waiter on the beach and the pool to take drink orders. We'd eat and drink a lot more if it wasn't such a chore to go order and wait for it.

We've recommended Coco LaPalm to others, but now we're sorry cause we want it to be our secret piece of heaven!
