We loved this place! Visited: February 2007 |

We stayed here with eight other people and just loved it.
The staff was wonderful! We fell in love with each and every one of them.
The beach was one of the best in Negril. It had more lawn chairs and trees to get out of the sun. It was also nice to be able to eat and drink right out on the beach. The bar was right off the beach just a couple of feet.
The rooms were small, yet large enough and very clean. The views are excellent. We were fortunate enough to get an ocean view room. They all have little patios and tables and chairs on them.
The beach staff really watched the locals so they don't bother you when you are on the beach. That was nice!
We have been to Negril many times, and this was far and above our favorite place so far. It was a smaller resort with all of the big resort amenities. |

It was quaint and offered a real Jamaican experience. Visited: November 2006 |

I have stayed at Negril Gardens a number of times in the past five years. The reason I love it is due to the warm hospitality, size of the property, the people, and the beach access at this location.
It gives you a more "flavorful" Jamaican experience than many of the larger all inclusives. I just feel happy here, and the other guests tend to be very nice and easy to get to know, which has made many trips even more memorable here.
Since Negril Gardens has been taken over by the Sandals resorts, I will say that the food quality is better than before, but it's not five-star by any means. Some meals are great, some I eat a lot of salad, bread and cheese, which is always good. Few people have ever told me that they hated the food, it was either, great, good or "good enough" for a cheap all inclusive vacation. It is much better than many all-inclusives in Mexico that are bigger and high-rated establishments.
The down-side to Sandals ownership is that they seem to overbook all their hotels if they know they can switch people to other un-occupied hotels. This happened to us once, and we were switched to "Beaches", which probably costs double the daily rate as Negril Gardens.
The food was better, and it was much more of a "resort" atmopshere with lots of amenities and dining options, but after the first night, we asked to transfer back to Negril Gardens because we missed it. Not to mention, Beaches caters to families so we were a little overwhelmed by the number of kids there. It was a nice place, but we opted to go back anyway.
The other issue with Negril Gardens is that I don't sleep well on their beds. However, a lot of resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico tend to be that way as it is easier to keep the mold from growing in those beds (due to humidity levels) compared to the beds we are used to at home.
Noise on the beach side can be a problem the nights that Alfreds next door band is playing, but I am usually out there enjoying it. I do see that early birds would find that annoying. I have only stayed on the beachside, but I did hear that the garden side was very quiet.
This is one of my favorite places to stay because it really has the homey, comfortable feel that makes vacations very enjoyable for me. |

I can't summarize how much we love this property! Visited: February 2005 |

We stay at this property every year - or at least try to. It is usually ovebooked. But, Rico, manager, and Wayne Cummings, the GM, do the best they can when someone overbooks.
I truly love Negril Gardens, and would recommend this resort. It has such a warm staff and great ambience. This is also a great island to visit. |

We had a wonderful stay in spite of Hurricane Ivan! Visited: September 2004 |

My husband and I were wed at Negril Gardens September 2003 and returned there for our one-year anniversay. The hotel was evacuated as Hurricane Ivan approached. The resort covered our additional stay until we were able to leave.
We loved the location, it was within walking distance to the local shopping center and a short taxi ride to Margaritaville and other hotspots. It had a special vibe you don't find at the "super-sized" resorts. We plan to make this a yearly destination - just not during Hurricane season! |

We went to Jamaica for a friend's wedding, but stayed at a separate resort so we could have a vacation too! We were so glad we did, and so glad that resort was Negril Gardens!
The staff was beyond helpful, especially in my case, having flown with a sinus infection, I ended up with a severe earache, and went deaf for almost two days due to fluid in my ears!
You can imagine how scared I was - but the fabulous staff not only referred me to the doctor, they called him on his cell and made an appointment for me the next morning. Then they got me a cab, and had him wait for me while I had my appointment! They did so much to set me at ease, I can't even begin to thank them.
And even though I couldn't go snorkeling due to my ears, I had a great time staying at the beachside of the resort, eating the fabulous food, and all-in-all feeling quite spoiled. Everything from music and shopping to parasailing and other things were within a short beach walk away - and yes, a quick "no" was all we needed to deal with beach solicitations.
And I loved my fabulous little porch - oh, I miss it all! From sunrise to sunset, this was the most lovely vacation I've had in years - I made a promise to myself to return someday!
Also, for environmental travelers - you will be pleasantly surprised to discover they use compact fluorescent lighting, and have a fabulous policy for changing the sheets/towels. Gosh, I just can't say enough about this place! |

Negril Gardens is a great value for the money. Visited: February 2004 |

This was our fifth trip to Negril Gardens. We have checked out other properties while in Negril, but for the price and value it just can't be beat.
The staff is so warm and the manager, Mr. Wayne Cummings, knows what he's doing. The garden area and the beach side are beautiful.
I would reccommend this hotel without hesitation. Every year we see the same guests come back at the same time we visit. There is only one problem - it's so popular it's usually overbooked! |

It was overbooked and noisy during our stay here. Visited: February 2004 |

We had booked a beachside room, but when we arrived we were downgraded to the gardenside because they were overbooked. This only lasted one night, but they were very hesitant to offer any compensation even though we had to pay more for the beachside room. The issue still has not been resolved although we were given a letter stating we would receive some sort of refund.
We enjoyed our stay at Negril Gardens because the people who worked there were very nice and helpful. The food was also good.
Our biggest complaint was the noise level at night in the beachside rooms. There was a popular beach bar right next door with live music that was very loud. If you don't want to stay up all night partying, you will get little sleep anyway because of the noise level.
The gardenside was much quieter, but you had to cross the busy highway anytime you wanted to go to the beach or back to your room. |

They have a marvelous location and an attentively and nice staff. Visited: October 2003 |

This was a very nice hotel with genuinely friendly staff.
The hotel area was split into the garden side and the beachside. The beach side was more expensive than the garden side, and both sides were separated by a street. But there was no problem crossing the street because on each side of the street there was a staff member waiting to let you safely cross.
We decided to take a room on the garden side and we were not disappointed. The rooms were very silent there, and the tropic garden was impressive. The only "noise" we could hear was being made by crickets or frogs (but you won´t see them).
On the first night we got a room in the ground floor, which was a little dark and damp due to the climate. But it wasn´t a problem to change to the upper floor next day. We would recommend a room at the first level.
Also, the beach was fabulous and very clean. We really enjoyed being in this hotel. |

I stayed here for five days and it was nothing but a great time. It was great because I had everything I needed right in front of me.
There were great people working here. Also, the food and drinks were free and available at all times. It was right in the heart and soul of Negril.
Seven Mile Beach was great. The night life was great, too. There were always great Reggae parties to attend, and the music was good.
I am definitely going to return to this hotel next year. It has to be the best place in the world. |

A good accommodation for the price. Visited: December 2002 |

We just had our Weddingmoon at Negril Garden Resort on Seven Mile Beach. This was a good resort for the money, with a few minor problems still to be worked out. If you're on a budget and want all-inclusive, I'd say this is a good choice. But if you can afford it, go for a little nicer.
The wedding itself was fabulous from beginning to end. The best of the staff was taking excellent care our out eight-person wedding party. They had great decorations and photography. If you're considering a wedding here, I highly recommend it.
The food was so-so. It was edible and will keep you alive, but I didn't hear too many people raving about it. It was buffet style at every meal. Beef and chicken choices were for the most part scary looking, but there was plenty of fish.
The rooms were beautifully decorated. A mini-bar would be a nice addition. The beds werefine, and the maids did a great job.
The bar needed serious work. The bartenders did not know how to make anything, including the 6-7 drinks on their drink list. They were unbearably slow and sometimes even rude. Cups were ridiculously small, so order 3+ drinks at once if you go, and expect a hard time. I was told this was because this resort was recently purchased by Sandals and a lot of the staff who were used to getting tips were pretty mad about the situation, so they did their job as slowly as possible and took out their frustrations on guests.
Negril itself had a ton of panhandlers combing the beaches. Fortunately, this resort had good security which didn't allow them up on the property. Even so, expect to be offered to buy everything under the sun (legal and illegal) from your beach chair.
Also, the front desk did everything they could to help guests out. They were very nice and genuinely interested in guests' satisfaction.
This was a good resort and we had a blast, but we are easy people to please. The main areas for improvement were the bar and the food. All other staff was excellent, and Seven Miles Beach was awesome.

Negril Gardens is a good low-frills hotel, and a bargain! Visited: July 2002 |

We stayed for ten nights, and enjoyed the whole time when - even the rain was warm!
The golf was a little pricy, but that wasn't the gotel's problem. The locals were friendly and responded well to 'no'. So, don't be afraid to be direct - it was 'no problem' - as were most things in the area.
The rooms would gain from a fridge and a hairdryer. There were some great trips out, but if you just wanted to chill, this was the ideal place.
Good luck and enjoy your stay - we did. |

We were married on the beach at Negril Gardens and everyone there was wonderful!
The food was pretty good, with a lot of variety considering they had to do buffets three times a day! Also, you could order burgers and things any time the kitchen was closed.
The location was great- right in the middle of Seven Mile Beach, and an easy to walk to town, the duty-free mall, and other resorts.
Make sure you ask for a room with a balcony, because there were about four rooms that were stuck in the corner across the street and they were dark and gloomy! If you ask nicely, I am sure they will do everything they can to help you out.
We thought that the staff was the highlight of the hotel. They were so friendly, funny and helpful.
I would definitely recommend Negril Gardens for anyone looking for a quiet vacation at a beautiful quaint property! |

Great value, great location - some downers however Visited: February 2002 |

Just got back from Negril Gardens hotel. We stayed there for one week and had a great time. The food was pretty good, not the best but for the price we paid it wasn't bad. The location of the hotel is great, right in the middle of the 7 mile beach. The 7 mile beach is wonderful, white sand beach and clear blue water. (watch out for the jellyfish, I was stung) The snorkeling is great and the weather is always nice.
From other reviews I was expecting to meet some nice people who work at the resort, not true! They are converting from a non-inclusive to an all-inclusive (Sandals bought them out) and the workers are taking it out on the customers. There were a few nice employees but the majority of them gave you the feeling that you were bothering them. The bartenders need to work on there attitude, I dont think I had one conversation with any of them. Sometimes they were rude, and always very slow. Their drinks were not that good either, we stayed at Sandals and had some of the best tropical drinks ever, but at Negril Gardens they don't know how to make them. Don't tip them - they won't remember you and it never worked for us. I must have tipped one guy 30 dollars in two days and he never even smiled at me. Also the glasses they give you are so small you always need to order two drinks. There is only one bar wich is also a negative.
The rooms were fairly small but in nice shape, the showers were sometimes hot and cold but overall the room was nice, except for the sheets on the bed. They felt like sandpaper, bring a sheet with you. Yes there are plenty of hustlers on the beach and some are very persistent. Don't look at them and say no over and over again. After a couple of days you won't get bothered much.
Go snorkeling with Crazy Charlie, you will have a great time, ask him for a coffee break. The ride there is fun if you are drinking, the ride home is no fun. The roads to the hotel are terrible and under construction. |

Negril Gardens is a beautiful property with wonderful staff. Visited: December 2001 |

This property has been recently renovated and purchased by the Superclubs chain. The newly-renovated rooms were vibrantly decorated and extremely comfortable.
We visited over the Christmas holidays and were a part of their all-inclusive program.
The food was great and they always had a variety of local and popular dishes. The chef would try to accommodate everyone. My husband mentioned that he wanted to try a more locally flavored meal, so that evening the chef had prepared a chicken curry just for him!
We were very impressed with the beach and the staff. The bartenders were entertaining and could make a mean Pina Colada.
We stayed at this hotel to attend my mother's wedding. The staff did a wonderful job and took care of everything! They catered to her every wish, including a private dinner on the beach.
We have stayed at many properties in Negril in the past five years (we visit the island two times a year). This was our first "all-inclusive" experience. My husband gained ten pounds and thinks the extra 20 minutes a day at the gym were worth it.
I would reccomend this property to a person travelling alone, a couple or a family with children. I have never stayed at a hotel were the entire staff bent over backwards for me and every other guest. |

We were guests at Negril Gardens and loved the property. It has a great location on the 7-mile Beach, walking distance to all the beach parties and Debuss for good jerk chicken.
The buildings are all brightly painted and the rooms, although small, are clean with a great working air conditioner.
The food is excellent. We never had a bad meal! And the service is outstanding. It’s a small property, which is a plus because you receive more personal attention and never feel crowded.

Negril Gardens is a honeymoon paradise! Visited: August 2001 |

We spent our honeymoon at Negril Gardens. We had never been to Jamaica before this and would definitely go back again, in a hurry!
It was so peaceful. The staff was excellent, especially J.J., Darryl and Nicholas (at the bar). They even gave us special care being honeymooners and first timers, and even addressed us by our names.
The rooms were beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Every morning we got out to sit on the balcony and enjoy the island breeze. Being on our honeymoon, we had much privacy, and did not see or hear any rowdy kids.
The food was to die for! I think we ate every time they served something. Dinners were very romantic and some were prepared on the beach. It was a dream for us!
You guys with the negative complaints could never be satisfied anywhere you go. Negril Gardens is where we will stay every time! |

Too expensive for Europeans. Visited: August 2001 |

It was beautiful, but it was extremely expensive for Europeans who have to travel thousands of miles to be there. We felt that they catered more to the Americans than anyone one else.
The staff was great. They were helpful and polite at all times. The food was excellent and so too was the whole environment, but we would have to save up for a couple of years before we could come again, which is a shame because we would have loved to come back next year—God willing.
We could not go on trips or tip staff as well as we would have liked to and felt deeply ashamed. All in all, a great place to visit and stay.

We stayed there only one week, but we had a very good time. The staff is wonderful, the food is excellent, the beach is incredible, the sea is ... hot! All of the people here are always smiling, saying, “ya mon, no problem!”
You have all you can desire in the hotel. There is also a little shopping center a 5-minute walk from the hotel that is very nice (and has good prices, too). The food is super, the drinks, too. We enjoyed cocktails from the barman that were cool and in coconuts from the beach just taken from the trees.
A paradise for all, we will return there as soon as possible!

I stayed at Negril Gardens and was very pleased overall with the accommodations. The property was beautifully painted and landscaped; gorgeous colors were everywhere. The staff was fantastic, very helpful and willing to go the extra mile.
The water sports included in the package were great. How nice to be able to stroll down to the water and just grab a kayak or sailboard! Security was very tight which, for two women traveling together, was welcomed.
The food, while tasty and plentiful, was very American—Eggplant Parmesan in Jamaica? Oh well, I'd go back without hesitation.
