2.0 stars The food was good, but the accommodations were horrible. Visited: October 2008

We arrived here late in the evening for the second week of our honeymoon. When we got to our room, it looked like it had been vacant for months. There were dead spiders under our water glasses, and dust was on everything. The shower - and whole bathroom - was completely moldy. The bed was completely worn out.

The next morning we requested a different room. After waiting over five hours for the manager to get into the office, we were finally shown three other rooms from our same category. The third room finaly didn't have a horrible mold problem.

We discovered later on that there were more recently renovated rooms in the complex, but not in the category we had booked. Considering the poor condition, those rooms should not have been allowed to be booked until renovated.

The excursions were a pain to book. We could only book snorkeling, catamaran, etc. up to one day ahead. The problem was that by 10 am the day ahead everything was full from guests going on trips multiple times. As honeymooners, we enjoyed sleeping in a little and would decide activities over breakfast. We weren't able to book snorkeling or the glass bottom boat ride once during our entire one-week stay.

On the plus side, the food was excellent. There were many choices, the menus changed constantly, and service was fantastic.

The grounds and beach were were well kept. However, there were vendors constantly selling something (including drugs and advertising nearby resorts). We felt constantly hassled.

I read some of the other reviews, especially some of the older reviews on this site and found them to be surprisingly negative.

However, rest assured that you can disregard those, because it certainly didn't sound like the beautiful resort we went to.

The service was great, and the staff was refreshingly friendly. I guess we went in what would be considered "off" season. I later found out that October is usually one of the rainiest months, and the weather channel called for rain the whole time, so had me worried. However, it rained for less than one hour once during our six-day stay.

It was a beautiful place - the beach, the water, the staff. The room was also great, and had a wonderful view - although very little time was actually spent there.

It was fun, and I can't get back soon enough. I've never been to an all inclusive resort before, and did not know what to expect. I think the second time will be even better. Whatever words you think of to describe Couples Swept Away, "disappointed" will not be one of those words.

5.0 stars We had a sweet second honeymoon at Swept Away. Visited: August 2007

We celebrated 20 years of marriage at Couples Swept Away, and could not have picked a more romantic and intimate resort.

Seven Mile Beach was one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean. We spent our days luxuriating under a palapa, drinking fabulous drinks from the all inclusive bar and swimming in the calm and warm waters of the Caribbean.

There were two pools near the ocean as well. One had a swim up bar. If you like to exercise, the fitness center was just gorgeous - although not air-conditioned. There was also a fabulous Olympic size pool which was seldom crowded. The beach and available activities were just awesome, too.

Food in all the dining rooms was very good, particularly if you order the Jamaican cuisine rather than the typical American fare. We had one meal at the dressier, fancier Feathers restaurant. It was very good, but we preferred the mood and variety of the buffet at the Palms.

Rooms at Couples were not luxurious---go elsewhere if you want marble bathrooms, high end electronics, Aveda toiletries and such. However, the rooms had a wonderful Caribbean flavor to the decor, the beds were soft, the bathrooms were large, and the balconies were just enormous and inviting.

Sitting outside on the balcony at night listening to the music from the entertainers, hearing the tree frogs, and having a drink from the mini bar was just heavenly. We had a beachfront suite, too.

This was a great trip to a lovely resort.

We loved our second stay at Couples Swept Away - just as we did our first stay in 2006.

This resort had a true Caribbean feel with shuttered windows, lush foliage, and friendly staff. There were many rooms right on the beachfront, and many more with an ocean view.

There were six restaurants which ranged from beach grill casual to formal elegant. CSA was on Seven Mile Beach in Negril, so you could walk for miles and see many other places to stay, restaurants, and beach vendors along the way.

I highly recommend this resort to anyone.

We had our destination wedding here. The staff was phenomenal and well organized. I would highly recommend a wedding, honeymoon, and anniversary trip to this resort!
