4.0 stars back again and twas even better Visited: June 2009

We came back again in June. We both really enjoy this small resort. Lots of jamaicans there this time. Resort is very local friendly. We had a much better room this time and enjoyed our stay even more than at Easter. We will return.

My partner (Jamaican) and I stayed here over Easter. It was a great value for what we paid and got in return.

We really enjoyed the small size and the quietness of this resort. The beach was typical north coast, but the views were lovely. The food was decent.

We are back in June 2009.

My husband and I just got back, and we loved it!

They had such great employees. Tip them for good service, and be treated like kings. We figured that out real quick! They remembered us by name, and were very nice and laid back!

Book a tour for "Cool Runnings", too. It was fun!

3.0 stars For the price, it was very nice. Visited: December 2007

We paid $95 a night per person, all inclusive, with a "pay for five, get the sixth night free". We were also given free pick up and return to airport with the price.

We had a deluxe room. It was really very nice. It was large, clean, and comfortable.

The beach area was barely adequate, though. It was small, and not so nice with weeds underfoot. The food was fine - as was the service.

The resort needs some work. However, people were working on it during our stay, so, it's getting done.

We prefer a resort where it's possible to walk to small bars and cafes in the immediate area. This wasn't the case here, as the street outside the resort had nothing within walking distance.

We have no plans to return, but might at a later date. The distance of a one-and-a-half hour drive from Montego Bay was a bit much, and we will look for something closer.

I have been to Club Ambiance 18 times and counting!

This is a lovely little resort with the best service I have ever had in the Caribbean. The staff goes out of their way to make guests happy and feel welcomed.

I highly recommend Club Ambience to anyone on a budget who wants the best their money can buy. You can't beat it!

We enjoyed our three-night stay at Club Ambiance. The beach was small, but beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The down sides: the food wasn't the greatest (and only available at certain times); and getting beach towels and snorkeling gear was a bit of a hassle.

I still would recommend the resort for those who want a laid back and affordable place to hang.

3.0 stars Club Ambiance is a small resort that provides a great time. Visited: March 2006

My wife and I stayed at Club Ambience last year, and we were very pleased with many aspects of the resort.

It was small by today's standards, with 90 or so rooms, so the level of "connection" with the staff was higher.

Upon arrival, we'd barely wheeled our luggage into the lobby before we were escorted to the bar and grill for a drink and a quick bite to eat. Check-in took a few minutes, as always, but everything happens on "island time" here.

Soon we were taken to our room, and were treated to a beautiful ocean view from the balcony. The rooms were secure, clean and tidy, but as is often the case, in need of updating and cosmetic attention.

One of the outstanding features of Club Ambience was the food. We're not really fussy eaters, but enjoy fine cuisine when we get it. The food (and it was plentiful and varied) was fantastic. I tried almost everything that was offered, and found nothing that I didn't like. The choices were mind-boggling, and I'm sure I gained a few pounds while I was here. The dessert table was to die for!

The staff was very attentive and eager to ensure a good time for all. The nightly entertainment was better than some other places we've been, and not as good as others. A good solid better-than-average.

We spent most of our days on the beach. It was not terribly big, and the swimming wasn't the best. However, most of the crowd was at the pool, so we could usually find a beach chair and a float.

In essence, I'd advise anyone looking for a nice relaxing vacation to check out Club Ambience. For half the price of many of the big name resorts, it's a no-brainer. As a matter of fact, we're going back next week!

After 14 visits to Club Caribbean, we decided to opt for Club Ambience. The warmth and friendliness of the people were second to none, from the maids cleaning the rooms to the resort manager.

The evening entertainment was very good, and the food was plentiful with a great variety. The waiters and bar staff were very attentive. Damien, the entertainment manager, was a star (along with Carlene). They made our holiday great fun.

People have mentioned Jamaica being dangerous. But here, we were in a country where you can drink freely in the local bars - as we did - and chat with the local people. They were amazing. Visit the local villages and see the real Jamaica. We are looking forward to returning once again.

4.0 stars This must be the hidden treasure of Jamaica. Visited: July 2004
Posted by ljimenez
After taking our two children (2 and 8) to Cancun, Mexico, for a week, my husband and I decided that we had to take a vacation alone! Since we didn't have much time to plan, we stumbled across Club Ambiance.

We had spent our honeymoon at the former Grand Lido, Sans Souci, which was five stars. I must admit, Club Ambiance was fantastic. I am not in need of a five star since I absolutely adore Jamaica.

The room was perfect, with a bed, tv, etc. - it was all we needed. The water pressure could have been better, but hey, who wants to take a long shower when you can sit outside and enjoy the view of the Caribbean Sea ten feet from your room.

The service was fantastic. I noticed not many tippers, but we were so impressed with everything (Showtime at night, the staff in the dining area, the bartenders, the gardeners, etc.) that we were tipping everybody.

It was such a treat to find a place so quaint. It was almost as if we were in the resort all by ourselves. There were no more than five couples around the pool at a time. This is definitely a place meant for a couple (or friends) who want to get away from the rat race of their daily activities.

I read other reviewers who wrote that they weren't impressed with the beach. Honestly, the beach was small, but it had what we needed - water, beach chairs, etc. It was so hot we spent most of our time in the pool anyway. I would highly recommend this place and plan on going back! For the price, you can't beat it!

4.0 stars Our stay was very relaxing. Visited: November 2003

This was my first time in Jamaica and I was a bit nervous. Everything was great until my husband and I was escorted to our honeymoon suite. What they brought us to was no honeymoon suite. Two days later, we finally got the room I had booked four months ahead.

The excuses they gave for those two days were totally unacceptable. If you plan on spending no time in your room, a regular room will do, otherwise I loved the view the honeymoon suites offered. In my opinion it was the difference between day and night.

The beach left a lot to be desired. It was small and manmade. If you want to snorkel, you have to get away from the beach into clearer waters, but was the water clear and beautiful!

The best part that helped me overlook almost everything was the staff. They were unbelievable. They had the most wonderful staff I've seen - anywhwere I've been. They were the reason I would consider going back.

The food was also fantastic. There was not one meal I did not enjoy. What a variety every day.

Were there ants? Yes, but keep sweet foods and drinks out of your room and you won't have an issue.

Other than the reservation problem, I did have a wonderful time. Other vacations I was ready to go home after five days, not at this place. I would have stayed longer and been happy. Also, the price was right.

4.0 stars Club Ambiance is a hidden gem. Visited: September 2003
Posted by divadawg
My best friend and I stayed at Club Ambiance for four days in September. We actually obtained the trip through ebay, so we weren't quite sure what to expect, even though we had read online reviews.

Upon arrival, any doubts we may have had were fading fast away. The staff was welcoming and extremely friendly. Our room was very clean with ample space.

Each night, the buffet-style dinners were very tasty and well presented. The entertainment was just that - very entertaining.

The beaches were small and rocky - - rock shoes solved that problem. Every night on the beach under the stars was unforgettable.

We hired a private guide to take us around to the sights; and crammed about three days vacation into one, snorkeling at the coral reef in Ocho Rios; climbing Dunn's River Falls; and visiting Nine-Mile, Bob Marley's house, which was a breathtaking drive up a mountain.

If you're looking for long, sandy beaches and the "party scene", Club Ambiance is not your best bet. If you're looking for friendly people; a secure environment; plenty of good food, good drinks and a relaxing time - you definitely want to visit this hidden gem.

Living in an extremely high tourist area, I was very, very pleased with the people, the service, and the resort itself. I will definitely be returning.

5.0 stars We were happy honeymooners. Visited: July 2003

"Wow" is all I can say. Jamaica is the best country I've ever been to, and I am so glad we chose to have our honeymoon at Club Ambiance.

Because we went all-inclusive, we could eat and drink as much as we liked. It was fantastic. We had no complaints about the food - it was all lovely.

The pool bars were fantastic. I tried all the cocktails, and the rum kept on flowing - it was great! The staff was like one big happy family. They were all very friendly and helpful. They made us feel at home. The view of the beach was georgeous. We spent quite some time just relaxing under a palm tree or swimming in the sea. We also did some snorkeling and saw plenty of fish.

Our room was lovely. It was very big. We had a king-sized bed and it was great! The bathroom had a bath, shower, sink and toilet in it, and it was very clean. We had clean towels every day, and the maid left us swans on our bed made out of towels with flowers on it because it was our honeymoon. It was lovely.

The room also had a TV, a patio with a table and chairs outside so we could sit outside our room drinking in the sun overlooking the swimming pool. We made lots of friends and had lots of fun.

I got to swim with the dolphins at the Dolphin Cove and it was absolutely amazing. There were lots of excursions to do if you wanted to explore more of the island. We went to Dunn's River Falls and walked up the waterfall. It was incredible. It took about 45 minutes. We also went on the Luminous Lagoon which was an experience. We really didn't want to leave - it was like being in paradise.

Do I really want word to get out about this place, or keep it to myself? Hmmmm!

Everything you've read about the staff at this property is true. From the minute you step off the tour bus, you're welcomed as a good friend. From the desk staff and the housekeepers to the entertainment staff, the dining room staff and the bartenders - everyone is wonderful. Special thanks to Nadine (Deena), Chris, Elaine, Peter, Sharon, and the lovely young lady at the pool bar.

Contrary to what you've read, maintenance at this hotel is top-notch. Everything looks freshly painted, beds are comfortable (pillows are a bit hard and lumpy, though), everything in the bathrooms work, water pressure is fine, air conditioning is great. Yes, there are some tiny ants in the room. But it's the Caribbean. Deal with it.

The place is immaculate - even the kitchen. If you get a peek in there during the day, the place sparkles.

Drinks are not very strong, so this is not a place for serious drinkers. Coffee is available 24-7; and drinking coffee on your patio in the afternoon is very civilized.

The pool is quite large and not too chlorinated. The beach is very small and man-made. It is good only for sunning and lying on floats in the water. A small inlet for snorkeling has a lot of fish, but because of the rough-ish north coast waters, it is a bit murky. You should bring water shoes for this.

Food is good-to-excellent. All of it is buffet-style, with a different theme each night. The chef is willing to share recipes, too. They serve great ackee and saltfish at breakfast two times a week.

If you simply must have a great beach, this might not be the place for you. If you want top-flight liquors and fine dining, it might not be the place for you. But if what you want is a casual place cooled by ocean breezes, to just relax, gaze at the sea and sky and chill with good people, this is a great place at a great price.

We just got back from staying at Club Ambiance and it was very nice.

When we first pulled in, we were not to sure. Because, as other reviewers stated, it was not that fancy from the outside. We checked in and were taken to our room. It was nice and it was on the ground floor which faced the pool and the ocean.

The rooms looked just like they did in the photo we saw. The bathroom could be a little updated, but other than that, the room was great. Our air conditioning worked great in our room and there was always hot water (except twice). And I think it was because everyone in the resort was showering at the same time.

The maids cleaned our room every day and we never once had a problem. We would even leave stuff on the back patio and every morning it was still there, so they definitely had very honest employees here.

The food was great, and there was always a huge variety to pick from at each meal. The only complaint I had about the food was that a lot of the desserts (I would say about 80%) had rum in them. I am not a big rum person, so that was kind of disappointing.

We met two wonderful employees, Dwayne and Peter, who both worked in the dininig area. They made our vacation great. We never took the tour bus into town because we always had Peter or Dwayne take us. It was better than the bus because we got a personal tour and they would stop or take us anywhere we wanted to go. They were both great guys. They were also great in the dining room, and I hope they are there for a long time.

We also had fun outside. They were always doing activities. Neil was the entertainment staff and he was always doing fun and exciting things to keep guests entertained.

The beach was small, but how big of a beach do you need to get some sun? They provided lounge chairs and floats which we used all the time. It was very hot, but the breeze was always blowing so you could lay out all day and not get to hot. But be careful, you will get burned easily due to that.

They also had a great area with hammocks, which were great to lay in and relax - especially after a great meal. The pool was very nice and big with plenty of lounge chairs.

We will be going back to Jamaica again, but will be staying in Negril next tim. It was so much nicer in Negril. But, we've already agreed that we will definitely go back to Club Ambiance again just because the staff was great and the hotel was nice.

3.0 stars There is a friendly atmosphere at Club Ambiance. Visited: March 2003
Posted by havesons3
My husband and I chose Club Ambiance for its valued price and adults-only atmosphere. We wanted a fun, yet relaxing spot to vacation without the kids and we definitely found it at Club Ambiance.

The main drawback we had was that the entire resort needed some long overdo refreshing; paint, fixing of ceiling leaks, bathroom updates, and a new roof. Yes, it did rain a couple of times and our room leaked in two spots. The common areas were brightly decorated and painted, and didn't show the age of the resort as much as the actual accommodations did.

The food, drinks and staff were outstanding. Overall, we felt we got good value for the price we paid. Runaway Bay was a great area to venture out into. We found a private beach right off the resort grounds that was great for walking. It was very peaceful.

The only slight drawback or disappointment was the size of the beach. But after five minutes of being treated like one of the family, we forgot that and got down to having the most relaxing holiday ever.

Obviously, the weather was virtually guaranteed but the service topped it. There was never a sign that anything was too much trouble, even when drinking our way through the full list of cocktails. It was superb.

We so enjoyed our one-week stay at this hotel. They had the most friendly staff and management! They provided entertainment every night, and if it wasn't professional, the staff and guests did their things.

We were disappointed mainly with the beach (of which there was only a bit); the sea, which did not have a sandy bottom; and we also missed having pads on the sun cots.

But, even with the above beefs, we really enjoyed it and we would come back again.

4.0 stars Exactly what we needed! Visited: October 2002

My wife and I just returned from Club Ambiance. As a travel agency owner, I have visited larger properties, and found the staff here the best I've met! From Oliver, the GM, to Tony, Sandrine, Sharlene, Nine Feet, Sharon, and on and on...they really went out of their way to make our stay perfect.

The food was really good even with only one restaurant. They had a different themed buffet each night-the Italian was awesome! Jerk chicken in the afternoon was a treat. We made the Pier bar our nightly after dinner retreat! The drinks were made to order and they were plentiful.

The beach was nice and clean with great snorkeling. The rooms were large and spacious - we had a 2nd floor honeymoon suite with a large balcony - that was exactly what we needed for our 8th anniversary.

We also made some fantastic new friends from England and we're all planning on going back for my 40th birthday bash next year!

If you're looking for a smaller, more laid back Jamaican experience, this is the place. It was my wife's 1st trip to Jamaica and she fell in love with the people and with Club Ambiance.

Some tips - take a large insulated mug, get to know the staff and remember - you're on vacation!

What a great spot! This wonderful little gem of a hotel is a small piece of paradise ....at an incredible rate. From the management on down, this hotel is very special from the moment you arrive.

And the girls on the front desk make you feel at home and so welcome and wante. The well-appointed rooms were lovely, the food was delicious..14 days of great meals and the best desserts I have ever had at a resort...and after 25 years in the travel industry I have been to over 100 all-inclusives and these desserts win hands down.

The entertainment was enjoyable, except the talent show - which should be renamed the "no talent" show. The staff was great - people like Sharon in the Dining room and Shawn, who cleaned up after us, are to be commended. Staff like that make coming to this resort a joy. We will be back!
