4.0 stars A breathtaking accommodation. Visited: July 2002

My husband and I were looking for a relaxing, laid back vacation and we certainly found that at Club Ambiance.

Our room - which Oliver picked for us (you are the Best Oliver) - was on the 2nd floor (honeymoon 8). I will forever remember the breathtaking view of the Caribbean.

The beach was rather small, but most people seemed to enjoy it. The pool was comfortable - getting a chair was sometimes rather difficult - but not impossible.

The grounds were beautiful and well taken care of. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the food was also very good.

The entertainment was great. The house band was excellent and we loved Ja Messenger! The dancers were lovely and the Fire Man-he was something to see. There were many activities. You could join in, or not.

The decor was colorful and uplifting. The dining room was spacious and the terrace was soothing in the evenings while having dinner. Our only complaint would be that there was no cool area to sit and eat dinner. The heat bothered us sometimes.

But the staff, they were superior. Within a day they knew our names and we felt as if we became a part of the family. They couldn't do enough for us. They were always smiling and their attitudes were infectious. I don't remember all their names but we thank each and every one of you for making us feel special.

Anthony and Damien you made us feel welcome and comfortable and we hope you enjoy the discs we left for you as a reminder of your friends from Tampa! FutureMan, keep singing, Damien, I loved your dancing, and Anthony what can we say, you will always be remembered on video.

We had a wonderful time and were sad to leave. Lastly, thank you Oliver for everything you did to see that our vacation was one we would always remember.

4.0 stars We had the best vacation! Visited: June 2002

We were looking for an all-inclusive vacation resort where we could simply relax and have a good time without spending a fortune. After reading the other reviews here, we decided to go to Club Ambiance - and that was the best decision we could have made!

The staff was great - always friendly and smiling - epecially Damion. And, if you like to dance, I highly recommend the Safari Club at night - awesome music!

There were activities spaced throughout the day if you wanted to participate. Or, you could just spend the day relaxing by the pool. The beach area was shallow, but very good for snorkeling. There were more than enough lounge chairs around both the pool and beach area to accommodate everyone.

The food was very good also. They provided a great variety so you were sure to find something you liked. Also, the rooms were very clean and comfortable with wonderful views.

I thought that after a week, I would be ready to go home - but that was not the case. We had such a good time we wished we could have stayed for another week. We met a lot of new friends while we were here.

When you are at Club Ambiance, you feel like you are part of one big happy family. We would definitely visit Club Ambiance again.

5.0 stars It was absolutely fantastic! Visited: June 2002

Where do I start about Club Ambiance? The rest of the reviews here were all correct, but it's difficult to put into words the Club Ambiance experience.

Let's start with the rooms. They were quite small, but very clean with a small bathroom with shower, bath, toilet, sink, mirror and hairdryer. The towels were changed every day. The beds were king size and very comfortable. They also provided a satellite tv, and all rooms seemed to have a furnished balcony or terrace.

The food was great! In fact, the worst (yet still very good) was the English night! The jerk chicken was delicious (some people did say they found it to be too hot).

The beach was quite small and the sea was shallow, but nobody seemed to mind. There were quite a few tropical fish in the "cove" and plenty just off the pier. The pool was plenty big enough for the number of quests at the hotel and was generally clean.

There were always activities through the day, but if you didn't fancy those, there was always fooseball, pool, darts or table tennis, (watch out for Damien at pool, he beat most people one-handed!)

Which brings me to the staff, which was by far the best part of the holiday! Everybody knew your name after about one day. They all had a smile for us, and everything was no problem. I must say a big "thanks" to everyone including Damien, Nine Feet (his daddy did not give him that name), Junior on the entertainment staff, Jermain, Nicloa and Jacky at the bars, Karen the chef, Sharon in the restaurant and Oliver for choosing such good staff.

I really can't recommend Club Ambiance enough and can understand why so many people come back. While we were here, we made friends with a lot of people (mostly English like us) and most of the guests seemed to be from the United Kingdom, so if you don't like the English dont bother coming!

This was probably our best holiday ever and it was a perfect place for our honeymoon. Go as soon as you can!

It was awesome. That is the word that we will use to describe our week here. We have never been treated so well anywhere that we have ever been.

The rooms were as good as any we have stayed in, in the Caribbean. The maids did an excellent job! The facilities were spotless and always being cleaned.

The restaraunts always offered an excellent selection, were hot and very delicious.

The pool was large and very clean. There were plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The beach was beautiful. But if there was one dislike, this was it. The depth of the water was such that you had to sit down to get wet. But, the beach was kept clean and the bar was close.

The staff set this resort apart from all others. By the time we left, we felt like these people were our friends. We will return sometime just because of them. They knew us by name by the end of the second day here.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary here, and it was very special what they did for us. We returned to our room from a day at the beach to find our room decorated with balloons and flowers. We had a bottle of wine and a card. At dinner, we were given special seating with people we had met. We were served a cake that said "Happy 25th Anniversary" on it along with chilled wine that we shared with freinds and staff.

In closing, Oliver and the staff made this the best vacation of our lives. Thank you!

This was our fourth visit to Jamaica and our first to the Club Ambiance. We did look up the reviews before booking, but what we got was much more than we ever expected from this small, friendly hotel. We couldn't fault it in anyway at all, from the food and the staff to the cleanliness of rooms and eating areas.

The entertainment was awesome - every night it was different from the fantastic resident band to the visiting acts.

From the day we arrived to the day we left, we were made to feel like one big family. You get the feeling that it was not just work for the staff. They really seemed to enjoy making your holiday the most memorable stay, nothing was ever too much trouble for them.

This was going to be our last visit to Jamaica for awhile, but after staying for two weeks at the Club Ambiance we decided that we would definitely be going back.
We arrived back home in Wales on the 7th of May, and by the 17th of May we had booked three weeks again at The Club Ambiance for the New Year. Now we are already counting the weeks down.

All that is left is to thank Oliver and all the staff for everything, it was our best ever holiday.

This small, all-inclusive property was great. I would absolutley recommend it.

The food, drinks and accomodations were very good. But my favorite part was the staff. Chris will find a drink suited for you, Zemron will entertain you, but my favorite person was the hotel manager, Oliver.

I will be back. During my stay at Club Ambiance I developed a very special love for Jamaica and more.

4.0 stars Club Ambiance was simply the best. Visited: March 2002

I first visited Ambiance in April 2000. Both my friend and I found the staff, the island, and the food to be excellent.

I returned a second time with another friend to let her experience Ambiance. Even though it was one year later, the staff still remembered my name. Even Jermaine, the bartender, remembered what drink I liked.

If like me and enjoy sunbathing and chilling out - you can. But if you want to be active, Damion and the entertainment crew keep guests busy.

The food was varied. I am picky when it comes to food, but I look forward to my visits for the Jerk Chicken!

I have been well looked after during every visit by Oliver and all the staff. Even if it is 3:00 a.m. - the staff still smiles.

I plan to go back in June for a fifth time. I am travelling alone for the second time to Ambiance, although never at any point have I felt alone. I now feel part of the family.

Go to Club Ambiance!

If you are looking for Red Carpet Service at a reasonable price, Club Ambiance is the place to be. My husband and I just got back from our stay at Club Ambiance located in Runaway Bay Jamaica. This is a wonderful resort if you want to be away from children and all of the commercialism that comes along with tourism.

It is a very casual atmosphere. The rooms are adequate and the all-inclusive package is wonderful! The food is superb! Lots to choose from. Drinks are plentiful and taste great! The rooms overlook the Caribbean Sea and there are plenty of activities. The entertainment staff is awesome and they have several events held every night.

Several of the couples there were return guests from England. Staff is extremely friendly and management was always present. (You are not required to tip, but the staff is so great that you can't help but do so.)

The beach is small, but we really did not care as long as we were able to go snorkeling. This is a must do! The ocean was fabulous and not deep at all. All of the reviews on this resort are true and we will return!

5.0 stars My stay at Club Ambiance was almost magical. Visited: September 2001

Considering the amount we paid for our all inclusive trip, my friend and I had our fingers crossed until we arrived. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the best fruit juice I have ever tasted in my life!

The entire staff was friendly - especially Chris and Dwayne (front desk staff), Sharon (our waitress for most of our trip), and J.C. (the pool lifeguard who gave me swimming lessons).

The food was wonderful, with a great variety. The nightly entertainment was good as well. There were many activities to take advantage of during the day, as well as a nice spa and salon. I actually got my hair done at the salon (thanks Heather).

The "ambiance" here made the stay even better. The rooms were very clean and air conditioned. However, the bathrooms needed a little work.

Overall, my vacation was enjoyable, to say the least and I would definitely return to Club Ambiance. If you are on a budget and seeking a quality (no bugs, rude staff, etc.) vacation, Club Ambiance is the place to stay!

4.0 stars A wonderful and casual resort. Visited: August 2001

I am a manager/owner of a travel agency. As one might imagine, I have vacationed in everything from a little hut to grandiose. Club Ambiance is a perfect resort for those seeking what it has to offer.

The larger "chains" can boast expansive beaches, several different restaurants, etc., but never - and I mean never, will you be treated the way you should be on vacation like you will at Club Ambiance.

When my husband and I visited, I was seven months pregnant and felt rather awkward about a Caribbean vacation..in a bikini not to mention. Let me tell you, the people here - and of course, Oliver, the hotel general manager - made our vacation like no other! The staff went out of their way to make sure I had fresh banana daquiris (sans alcohol) even if it meant running the entire length of the resort to fetch a banana off a tree!

I will admit that the beach was small, and there was really ony one restaurant, but everything was done with a smile and courteousness. Too many of us know that while we pay for a vacation, we should be treated like queens and kings and aren't. Well, alas, here you are! I suggest it..enjoy it and return again and again!

My parent were married in Jamaica 20 years ago. So for their 20th anniversary they decided to go back and I was taken along. I would say this is the best vacation I have ever been on.

The staff was absolutely incredible. They always got people involved in the silly contests and games they had. Damien even sang a few songs for us one night. My parents' anniversary was during the week we stayed here, and they brought them a little cake and a bottle of wine for our group. They treated us like family and were always very curteous.

The food was the absolute best. It was amazing. It was probably some of the best food I've ever had. Each night there was a different theme, but all were absolutely delicious. There was always something for everyone. There was this salad dressing that was to die for. I have no idea what it was but it was so good. I have yet to find it anywhere else.

Also, you must try the pizza. It was awesome. I had one every day that I was here. You're missing out if you don't have one. They also had these frozen strawberry smoothies that were great. Try them.

I definitely would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a laid-back, easy going place to stay. The beach was never crowded and you can just lay out and have a great time.

We came down last year for our 20th anniversary. We were married in Jamaica in 1981 and I enjoyed this trip so much more.

From the moment of our arrival, we felt welcomed by the entire staff. The room was great with an ocean view. We stayed up late some nights to sit on the balcony watching for shooting stars. The staff was very accommodating, and on the night of our anniversary, they brought out a cake and sang to us.

We enjoyed the pool games and the nightly entertainment. The food was absolutely excellent. Each night was a different theme. The pizza in the afternoons was the best we have tasted. I don't know what they used, but you have to try it if you come here. I really wish I was returning this year.

5.0 stars The Perfect island getaway! Visited: July 2001

Club Ambiance is a small, all-adult, all-inclusive resort that has succeeded in providing a quality product at an affordable price.

We arrived to a gaily-painted lobby and smiling faces welcoming us by name. We were escorted to our room after lunch and given a refreshing fruit punch. We were the first of our group of 11, spanning 3 generations, to arrive.

All the rooms are large, well appointed, with a/c, satellite TV's and balcony or patio and ocean views. Our group occupied all category rooms and everyone was very pleased. Housekeeping is fantastic! We always had ample towels and the tile floors are immaculate.

The food is very, very good. All meals are buffet style with something 'special' cooked at the grill. The stir-fry was fantastic. Jamaica Night is awesome! The variety of Continental and Jamaican food choices ensure that there is something for everyone including our 'picky eater' who never complained once. Dinner is served alternately in the dining room and on the Terrace.

The bar drinks are varied, exotic, and prepared on the spot. The glasses are small. Take a large insulated glass with a lid with you.

The staff is a real pleasure! Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful and welcoming. Management is visible and approachable.

The beach is small, but adequate. There are several sandy areas and we never felt crowded. My husband's favorite was the partially shaded area with hammocks. The pool is large and very clean. There are ample lounge chairs throughout the property. The entire property is well maintained and very clean. There are a couple areas that need some paint, but that's a never-ending battle in the Caribbean.

There are daily activities for those who are so inclined. The activities staff is highly visible day and night. There is also a game room with ping pong, pool, a large TV, board games, etc.

The resident band is very good and play/sing a variety of music. There is also a feature entertainer weekly. The guest/staff talent show provided many laughs! The disco provides entertainment after the band stops on the patio at 11pm.

The hotel offered escorted bike rides, exercise classes, a small gym, pool and beach activities, paddleboats, ocean kayaks, and snorkel equipment, a PADI approved dive facility. A tour desk, gift/sundries shop and small boutique are located in the lobby. JUTA approved drivers are on the property and a twice-daily shuttle to Ocho Rios at $10.00 per person.

We took long walks down the beach and hikes to the supermarket on several occasions and felt completely at ease.

The website is up-to-date and accurate! Do we recommend Club Ambiance? Absolutely!

4.0 stars Great laid-back hotel with an excellent staff! Visited: April 2001

My husband and I arrived, hot and sticky from a two-hour drive, to frosted glasses of fruit punch.

Our room was very spacious and clean, with a large, fully equipped bathroom, complete with a tub, bidet and blow dryer. We had requested one king-sized bed, but got two doubles. Our second-floor balcony provided privacy and an excellent view of the Coconut Bar, beach and outdoor dining area.

The only negatives: the size of our room meant we had to blast the air conditioning night and day to keep it habitable. (The king-sized rooms were smaller and cooler.) We were in the main building over the disco, which was not too loud, but we definitely heard the thump-thumping of the bass until 2a.m.

Food was first-class, a large North American style buffet brunch served 7-10; outdoor lunch buffet 12-2:30; and gourmet dinner 7-9:30, alternating between the dining room and terrace. Fresh fruits and vegetables abounded at the salad bar and dessert tables, and there were several choices of entrees. We enjoyed meals ranging from Chinese, to tacos, to shish kebab, spicy shrimp and curried goat! Desserts were tasty and plentiful. For those who wanted to snack, grilled sandwiches and sometimes pizzas were available before and after lunch.

The service was excellent, and the staff very friendly. The pool, beach and karaoke bars served a large variety of mixed drinks, plus the local Red Stripe lager on tap, and very palatable red and white house wines. The excellent food and abundant drink made this all-inclusive resort an excellent value.

The pool and beach were well maintained, but the beach was rather small and not ideal for those wanting to swim in the ocean. Loungers and umbrellas were plentiful, for those wanting sun or shade. The recreation staff was helpful and highly visible.

This is an excellent getaway for anyone wanting a relaxed, informal atmosphere and an excellent value.

Club Ambiance is the type of resort you want to go to if you are not impressed by commercialism! This resort is also perfect if you want to just relax in comfortable surroundings.

The food always seemed to include local Jamaican dishes. (Why else did you come all this way if not to try their home cooking?) Themed dinners were served under the stars and after dinner, there was "SHOWTIME". I already miss the local band that played. You should hear the lead singer--what a voice! They would also feature a guest singer or band. My favorite was "JaMessenger," which played reggae and that's what we wanted to hear!

The staff is awesome! Every worker seemed to enjoy their job and wanted to make sure that you were happy, whether you wanted to do water sports/tours/or just be left alone on the beaches. The beaches were private and had their own distinct personality (Yes, tops were optional.) One beach had several hammocks that were great for relaxing.

Club Ambiance is a small, quaint resort (less than 100 rooms). It is a perfect, nonconformist all-adult place to stay! I've been back only a few days and I'm trying to figure out how to save money to return! Please note: If you are looking for waterfalls in the pools, dress-up dinners and expensive costs, then you would not appreciate this casual well maintained place.

My wife and I just got back from one week at this very friendly, well-run resort. We arrived late at night to a sandwich and drink delivered to the check-in area in the lobby. Our room was ready and waiting.

During our stay, we got to know most of the staff by name and they got to know us as well. Oliver Ramdeen, the Manager, was available if needed and was very visible throughout the resort.

Meals varied and were served both in and out of doors. Bars were well attended with fast service at them all. Barmen would mix you pretty much anything but you could get gin, rye scotch, etc. if you wished.

Entertainment was excellent with both staff and visitor participation if you wished but no pressure if you chose not to.

Would we go back? In a second. After talking to other guests, it turned out that a lot of them were repeat visitors. Great vacation for the money even if I lost at pool to Oliver.

This was our fourth visit here and it just gets better all the time. During this visit we celebrated 25 years of marriage with a romantic dinner on the beach! You can do as much or as little as you want. The staff is first rate and is actually pleased to serve you, with a smile and a conversation.

There were only two drawbacks that my wife and I have experienced here. Firstly, having to check out and secondly the 9-hour flight home to dear old wet and cold England. We are about to book (yet another trip) this time for Christmas and New Year’s. We have not looked forward to Christmas so much for a long time.

5.0 stars A Special Honeymoon in paradis Visited: July 1999

We had the pleasure to spend two wonderful weeks during July 1999 on honeymoon at Club Ambiance. The staff are friendly and take the time to get to know the guests. The food and drink are to the highest standards and the activities in the resort ensure you do not have to travel far for entertainment. It would certainly be high on our list of hotels to visit anywhere in the Caribbean.

Staying here made our honeymoon more special. The lack of children is also a bonus for younger couples wanting to get away from it all.

My boyfriend & I had the great pleasure of visiting Club Ambiance in March of 1999. It was, in a word -- heaven! Everything from the rooms to the staff were fantastic.

The food was excellent -- like eating at a 5-star restaurant each meal. The entertainment staff were the best -- very friendly and it was fun to participate in the pool Olympics, kayak racing and the staff/guest talent night. (My boyfriend will forever be remembered for his stand-up act and became well known by staff & guests that week!) Not too mention the great service and excellent rum "cocktails" served up at the Coconut Bar.

Our only regret.... we only stayed one week!! We're planning to visit again -- for two weeks!!

We will soon be returning for our 3rd visit and each time met others that keep returning. We love the beach, snorkeling right off of it and taking the boat out to the reef.

The food is fantastic. The food is presented very well also, as on gourmet cooking shows in the US. We like the size of the hotel, not too big. The employees were very friendly, gracious, and helpful. The rum cream is great, the beer is Red Stripe draft; there's lots of drinks to choose from. It's a very relaxing place and a tour desk can help you plan excursions.
