4.0 stars This is in a great location and is a good value! Visited: August 2006

The title says it. Good location for all the beach bars and band. You can't beat the price for a small all-inclusive.

5.0 stars I love this place, and have stayed here year after year. Visited: May 2005

This place is great. The food is the country food of Jamaica. That's what I like.

Also, the staff is friendly. And you can walk a guarter of a mile in each direction and get to a live band on the beach. It's in the middle of the action.

I have stayed in various places on Negril Beach over the years, and for the money, this place is great.

1.0 stars RUN DOWN HOTEL Visited: July 2004

BOOKED THE NEGRIL INN, VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE APPEARANCE, ALSO NO ENTERTAINMENT, SURLY BARTENDER, AND MEDIOCRE FOOD. CHECK OUT THE NEXT DAY AND CHECKED INTO THE CORAL SEAS RESORT ON THE BEACH FOR ABOUT 50.00 MORE PER COUPLE, FOOD WAS MUCH BETTER, DRINKS WERE GOOD, AND THE FOOD WAS EVEN OFF THE MENU, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THE NEGRIL INN, ITS 1 STAR SHORT OF BEING A DUMP

2.0 stars A real Budget hotel Visited: March 2004
Posted by lauskat1
Me and My friend stayed here during the American Spring break, Now I like a bit of a party myself so the location of the hotel was excellent as was within walking distance to all the local nightspots.

The hotel itself was not great, the rooms were of a good size, but there was no TV as we were advised before travel, also the hairdryer was more like a tumble drier pipe! we had little ants all over our bathroom, and in the evenings the water pressure of the shower was so low that it would just drip out, to which we reported but to no avail.

The staff were friendly and they do try their best. But the food here was awful and it appeared that the staff got fed before the guests! we found ourselves eating bread rolls the majority of the time. Which was a big dissapointment.

We got quite a lot of hassle on the beach front which is quite annoying when all you want to do is sunbathe, but that is to be expected in Jamaica so we just accepted it.

Overall a good location and Value for money if you are looking for a budget hotel.

3.0 stars I think this is a nice place to visit.......once! Visited: February 2004

Negril Inn had one of the best locations on the beach with the beautiful palm trees for shade if you like.

The food was mediocre. It was the toughest beef I've ever had to attempt to chew. Apparently, they don't age their beef (butcher and serve, I guess!). The pork was okay if you could find it among the fat. Chicken dishes were usually good, though. The chef was doing his best with whatever he was given.

O'Neil (bartender) was awesome. He was friendly and efficient. Basil (older bartender) was slow, surly and needs to retire. Servers and housekeeping staff were great.

The rooms were spacious and cool. The air conditioner in the room was quite loud.

Also, there was no nightly entertainment. The Inn ran out of White Rum three days before our vacation ended. After inquiring several times at the bar and front desk, we ended up buying our own. That was disappointing.

We were constantly harrassed on the beach by peddlers. We've traveled quite a bit and found Jamaica to be expensive (everyone wanted our money and were quite aggressive about it) and stressful. We won't be back.

This was my second time at the Negril Inn. It is a very nice and friendly place to stay. The staff is wonderful. O'neil and Heavy D', you two are the best. Negril Inn is within walking distance to all night entertainment. We will be back!

3.0 stars not much with the all inclusive! Visited: August 2003
Posted by gr8one
The gardens at the inn were beautiful and maintained very well!
The only thing that really bummed by travel partners and I was the fact that there were no watersports, no nightly entertainment, and the older bartender didn't like to do much of anything for you....without a tip! And, that they closed the bar down around 10 PM.
I just think they need to update their information about their establishment. So that people going there to visit know how much money to actually take with them! Because, if you want to do any kind of water activities, it adds up! Especailly when you go there thinking that it is included with your package!

I had a wonderful time. Everyone was so nice. I met a couple of the guys who worked here, and they treated my sisters and me nicely. The chef catered to my grandmother's needs, which was wonderful. I had a wonderful time and will be back for Spring Break.

Honestly, I had a wonderful time in Jamaica. The hotel itself, was not what I expected in comparison to what I saw in the pictures; especially the bedroom pictures. However, the staff was really nice, which compensated for it.

The food was wonderful. There were 15 people in my group who stayed here. A couple of complaints were that the food would run out. At night, it was too dark to see your food because they need better lighting. The old man at the bar needs to retire because he was not friendly at all and there was no entertainment or activities during our stay as promised.

A few of the good things are O'neil, was really nice. He was just a sweetheart and really went the extra mile. Also Garth, the server for the food went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. He catered to my grandmother’s diabetic needs. He went out of his way.

The staff was really nice. I might come back, just because of them.

Negril was the worst hotel. It was not worth the money that I paid for. I went and paid more money for another hotel and check out (ASAP). The best decision that I ever made in my life. The only good thing about Negril Inn are two staff members Oniel and Garth. They are two very nice guys.

4.0 stars We will be back in July of 2004 - and we are anxiously waiting! Visited: July 2003

As an American with all her roots in this beautiful country, I always feel the most at home when I return yearly to my little island retreat. Even though young still, I remember the days that Negril was an unspoiled, unknown wonderland. drunk college students have changed much of that, but I tell you it was a treat to stay at Negril Inn.

There is nothing worse than the mega-resorts where privacy and relaxiation is nowhere on the schedule. But the small Negril Inn was always quiet - and since it was during off season, it was very empty.

I already expected it not to be as nice as the resorts run by trans-national compinies, but it was all I expected- a very nice location, wonderful staff, and decent food. The staff made if seem like I was staying with family.

The only thing that got me mad was that they ran out of food if I didn't make it down in time! The rooms were nice- a traditional Jamaican independently-owned hotel room. And I had hot water, so I could not ask for more!

The property was really good for the money. I though it was one of the best values around. It was in a good location and they were in the process repainting the entire property.

3.0 stars No evening entertainment or watersports. Visited: April 2003

One of the main reasons we stayed at Negril Inn was the allure of live entertainment nightly. After asking the staff about this they said, oh a few years ago, this band played on weekends but we don't know where they are now. There were absolutely no watersports either. You could pay a man down the beach if you wanted to enjoy water activities. The staff was friendly, the bar and food sub-par. (The older bartender acted like it was a chore to make your drinks--and we were two of seven people staying there that week, so he wasn't busy for most of the day/night.) The rooms were clean but the knobs on the shower were broken, the glass overlay on our table was broken and left there anyway!

A really great thing was the palm trees on the Inn's section of the beach, hard to come by in other areas and provided the option of shade that my companion desperately craved. The pool didn't look like anyone should swim in it. O'Neill, the younger of the two bartenders, really made our stay special taking great care to recommend places to go and even bargained a boating deal with some natives for us. If we paid less than we did, we would maybe stay there again, but they made false claims and overall; it's very rundown.

4.0 stars It was absolutely wonderful! Visited: September 2002

Negril Inn was one of the most memorable experiences in my life. We arrived past one tropical storm and weathered Tropical Storm Lili while we were here! It rained about 4 of our 15 days here. The other days were in varying stages of clearing up from the storms. But, since our goal was relaxation, the weather fit the bill.

The waitstaff at the Negril Inn compared to none I have met around the world. Oniel, Garth, Basil, Ms. Shirley, Norman, Kirk and Ansel were priceless people I hope to keep in contact with all my life.

Negril Inn was not a loud, high-traffic place to stay (at least during our timeframe -- however, I hear Spring Break is a whole other story.) We had the run of the place during this off season -- which made it delightful!

The food was tasty, and the cooks made every attempt to accommodate our requests. (Bring your own table salt, theirs clumps up.)

Our rooms were comfortable and clean. The only real annoyance was the wee hours slamming of doors from some of the younger vacationers.

Mosquitos were plentiful -- bring your citronella candle and purchase the green citronella spray at the local island pharmacy. It worked much better than OFF.

The sand fleas from the beach were the bane of my vacation, and made me the meal of choice! If ever there was misery, this was it! The only relief I got was rubbing overproof rum alcohol all over my body! Bring plenty of Benadryl cream and Benadryl tablets!

Do absolutely all of your souvenir shopping at the Times Square mall up the road, at shop #10 where Karen was the manager. She was fair and had the best prices. Use the Internet Cafe directly across the street from the Negril Inn. The system was slow, but you can check your information daily for about $1.00 U.S.

Besides the fleas, the only part of my vacation that caused me grief was the beach vendors and peddlers. Make no mistake -- they know the day you arrive anywhere on the island. It was annoying to keep saying no, but the collective island mentally seems to be, "no means 'not yet'" so they just keep coming back.

Look for JR, who runs the reef tours, and also find the CocaBread man who sells early in the morning out of a box on his bicycle! It is great!

There is no other place I will ever stay on the island except at Negril Inn! Enjoy your stay!

3.0 stars Wonderfully kind staff, good food and great beach location. Visited: March 2002

We vacationed in Negril Inn for a one week, all-inclusive stay in March 2002. We had a great time!

The staff was very kind and accommodating, especially Paul who checked us in after our weary day of travel. The grounds were well kept, the beach was raked and cleaned of debris every morning.

The food was good and it varied daily. Evening entertainment was okay. They had a live band in the dining area about every other night. The pool was average, placed in the middle of the resort--so you couldn't see the beach from pool area.

They didn't have TVs in the rooms, so evenings were very quiet.
I would stay again without hesitation.

The male staff was excellent. The female staff was kind of mean. All the men were so sweet - they brought drinks to our room when it was pouring rain and showed us how to snorkel and have a great time.

The kitchen staff was also very nice. They made dishes upon request at times, and always came out to say hi. Big thanks to Nick, Elvis, Heavy D and the older guy who first initiated our conversation. We are planning another trip in May and can't wait.

3.0 stars A great staff and great location for a beach property. Visited: November 2001

I stayed at Negril Inn for my second trip to Jamaica and it kicked off my 4-5 week stay with a bang! I ended up spending the winter in Negril and plan to move there to open up my own business!

This may have been due to a great vacation start at Negril Inn. The staff was warm and friendly and always willing to "do what it took" to make me, my sister and girlfriend content at any time of day.

In my opinion, the Negril Inn beachfront was rather nice with all the palm trees, but it would be nicer if the wall were not there covering up the property from the beach strollers. They could benefit from having the grounds more visible to the public, but it is also understandable to have the wall there to have a more secluded, private feeling.

The three meals each day and two snorkel trips per week were nice features to our ten-day stay. Also, the tennis court across the street was just a one-minute walk across the road right in front of the Inn. Just get out there to play either early in the morning or late in the day (right before the sunset). But don't miss a sunset from anywhere in Negril.....they were fabulous!

The bartender (especially Basil), the wait staff and the chefs were all so accommodating and willing to please. It would've been nice to arrive to a room with screens in the balcony sliding doors, so we wasted several days until we realized that all we had to do was request that they be put in. How can one stay in Negril without feeling the cool, night Caribbean breeze?

I'd recommend Negril Inn to anyone who prefers the beach atmosphere instead of the quieter, more secluded West End cliffs, just minutes south (and a cheap local taxi fare) away from the beautiful, long, sandy beach strip of Negril!

For my first visit to Jamaica I found the hotel and grounds to be charming and full of character. The entire staff was attentive and caring, and helped make my stay memorable. The Negril Inn has one of the nicest beach front areas, and you just can't beat the price for all the amenities offered. I have no reservations as choosing the Negril Inn for my next visit.
