Blue Cave Castle - Jamaica

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to live in a medieval castle overlooking the ocean? The Blue Cave Castle will give you a taste of this fantasy.

OK, so the towels don't always match and the shower pressure is low sometimes. You can remind Susan to turn on the pressurizing pump, or enjoy the shower in the cave down by the crashing sea. This is an inexpensive, typically Jamaican small hotel. All the rooms are different, and very large. The verandas are big enough for a small party. You have to walk down the street to call home, but it isn't far to walk and you'll want to get out for fresh fruit and Red Stripes, anyway.

You are sitting high atop the cliffs of Negril and the views are fantastic from here. Every morning there are a few fishermen who paddle out to check their lobster traps at sunrise. When the sun gets too hot walk down the long stairway to the ocean, the cliffs provide very good snorkeling. Later you can watch the sunset from your balcony or one of the cliffside bars down the street. This is a quiet, peaceful hotel. Children are welcome, but it would be advisable to bring only kids over 12 because of the height of the cliffs.

If you can live without the fancy amenities, the Blue Cave Castle is a really quaint, romantic place to stay in Negril. Don't expect room service, and leave your problems and inhibitions back home. For about fifty bucks a night, you can stay a while!
