Lost Beach was relaxing and there were no beach vendors. Visited: February 2004

We enjoyed our stay at Lost Beach. Our room was a two-bedroom, one bath by the pool on the ground floor. It was clean and we were very comfortable. Our beds were very comfortable, too.

We never used the air conditioning, as we liked the fresh air blowing through. This was a very quiet, laid back resort. If you need entertainment and lots of activities - don't come here. We enjoyed the quiet, and sounds of the ocean slapping the beach.

Visiting the locals was fun and educational. The food was very good at the restaurant. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. We walked up and down the beach and hiked three miles through a trail in the jungle and through the village. We were greeted with friendly smiles from the locals. We felt very safe. There was nothing fancy about this resort, but you will find clean, working facilities.

Yes, there were sand fleas and mosquitos. Just take a bottle of Deep Woods OFF and spray your feet, legs and arms in the morning and evening - no problem! This area of Jamaica was, after all, isolated - a resort with no other resorts around, undeveloped beach in its natural state.

We were picked up at the airport in Lost Beach's private van. We had a very friendly and informative driver, named Everard. We had a great trip, discovering the "real" Jamaican culture. We went fishing and caught tuna. We took a day trip into Negril and our driver took us wherever we wanted to go.

If you want a Beaches, Sandals or five-star noisy place, this is not for you.

"Private Paradise" is an understatement! Visited: November 2002

If you want Sandals, go to Sandals. Don't come to Lost Beach expecting what most American travelers consider to be an "all-inclusive" resort experience.

This is the place for those of us who prefer to degass, relax, and just kick back. The staff and management couldn't be more friendly, and they really do treat you like family. They will go to whatever length possible to make your stay not only pleasant, but memorable.

Lost Beach is about 45-minute drive from Negril. If you want "city" entertainment a couple nights out of the week, it's not a stretch to go to any of the bars, restaurants, or attractions in Negril.

Unlike the resorts in Negril, Lost Beach is on a wild beach, don't come expecting to be laying on white sand, staring at crystal clear water. Wild beaches just aren't like that. Strolls along the water are pleasant, but bring plenty of bug spray to keep the sand feas down. Without a string of resorts nearby to help fight the pest problem, sand fleas will always be present.

Entertainment is great, bring friends and family so you can entertain yourselves at the bar, pool, or around the grounds. Don't expect "shows" or anything spectacular, just kick back at the bar and make sure you tip ole Romy a big one!

The pool was in great shape (thanks, Mark!) when my wife and I visited. There are no complaints. We got plenty of swimming in between the excellent meals from the kitchen and the afternoon naps.

Lost Beach is honestly one of the most relaxing places I've ever visited. If you want to be treated like a tourist, go to Negril, if you want to be treated like family, go to Lost Beach and stay at least a week.

Lost Beach is a remote paradise with friendly staff. Visited: September 2002

Lost Beach Resort couldn't have been better named. It was tucked away on a cove on the south side of the island. This is the ultimate spot if you just want to get away from it all.

When going on vacation, I personally like to be in an area where it's easy to decompress and not worry about what a lot of other people are doing. Lost Beach gave me exactly that.

The friendly and laid back mix of Jamaican and American staff only added to the relaxing atmosphere. If you're looking for party central though...this isn't the place. However, Negril is a reasonable drive away - especially if you only plan to travel a couple of nights each week.

The facilities were clean and there was always someone keeping the pool clean. I had noticed that someone earlier had mentioned the pool being dirty...this was not the case at all when I was here.

If you enjoy wildlife, the nightly crab "migration" will definitely keep you entertained. And going on the Lost Beach Resort's boat to the snorkeling area was great! It was the best snorkeling I've done besides Roatan Island. I did manage to pick up a couple of mosquito and sand flea bites, but wasn't covered like I have been in many places. Lost Beach seemed to be working hard to reduce the number of pests that might interfere with a relaxing time.

Although it wasn't fancy, the bar and restaurant were adequate, and the food was very good. If you enjoy fresh fish, walk 100 feet and pick out your own dinner from the locals after they return from a day or evening of fishing.

I will be returning to Lost Beach Resort in the future. It is one of the most memorable vacations my wife and I have ever enjoyed.

No stars, but TWO (2) mice. Visited: May 2002
Posted by rextongordon
Lost Beach had the friendliest staff and the most personable people of any location that I have ever stayed. I only wish the property lived up to that expectation. The beach is not the crystal clear water that you dream of and the pool was under some sort of treatment.

The location was too far from Negril and too expensive to go every day and the property offered nothing in the way of entertainment. Rooms were barely airconditioned, with no phone and no TV. All of this was bearable until we discovered a mouse in our room. And while we got little sympathy from the manager, he did move us from the best room in the house (according to him) to the 2nd best room in the house only to find that it too had a mouse.

After escaping the 2nd room at 3 am in search of security we discovered that there was none (although they claim there is 24 hr. security) and were left standing alone in the only lit spot on the property 'til morning.

Ownership has a strick no refund policy so this costs us an additional hotel stay in addition to our initial investment.

Disappointed Visited: January 2002

I agree that Lost Beach has very friendly staff and a nice atmosphere and is located in a very unspoiled, beautiful corner of Jamaica. It?s a good opportunity to get to know "real Jamaican life" within a small fishing village. The fresh seafood was really excellent.

But we were also very disappointed and left after 5 days instead of staying the booked 2 weeks. The no money back policy made this a very expensive experience. The biggest disadvantages were the sandflies, which made it impossible to stay for a minute on the lovely beach. We tried the first day to sit on the beach and received 40 bites within 30 minutes. Those bites are really not funny; they stayed for the rest of our holidays. The sandflies were also at the pool. The only secure place was the balcony of the room, where we stayed then for the whole time. As there is virtually nothing to do in the evening. We tried to read in our rooms, which was not possible, as there was not enough light to read. The rooms were without any charm and not really clean. There is obviously a managing female person missing.
Driving every evening to Negril is quite far and also quite expensive.

After we left, we went to another resort in Negril and were very happy there, as the atmosphere was nice, relaxed and a much better value for money. Plus, there were no sandflies at all.

Private Paradise! Visited: June 2001
Posted by JennB2000
My husband and I spent our 2nd wedding anniversary here. The staff was great. If you like fresh fish, there is a fishing camp on the other side of the fence. We were upgraded due to construction that appears to still be going on! We were very well taken care of—the staff looks after your every need. If you want something that doesn't appear to be offered, ask...you will most likely receive! We also felt very safe with Eggbert keeping watch over the place.

Do not expect blue, clear water directly from your room. The water was brown and full of palm fronds and there are Sand flees (No See-ums"), but the view from the patio off your room is beautiful. The entire week we were there, the wind blew perfectly from about 9am to 8pm. If you take a boat trip you will see the beautiful green and eventually blue water.

This is a private paradise. Beware though, this place is about 2+ hours from the airport. The ride does give you a chance to see the true culture of Jamaica. We highly recommend this little piece of paradise!

Oh, the pool is perfect—just watch for crabs! Romy and Audrey were great at the bar!

Lost Beach is the slice of paradise most frequent travelers are looking for - stunning natural beauty, great food, superb staff, and relaxation galore. I would not hesitate to return. Hell. I'm ready to sell the house, quit my job, and move.

Having been to Negril before, I left my daughter at home due to a feel in the air one gets in Negril-not necessary here. Bring the kids and relax.

My wife smiled all the way here and back. Much appreciated.

Anyway, what are you waiting for? Grab your swim suit and get going. Your only regret will be that you didn't stay longer.

A dream come true Visited: August 2000

Lost Beach was a wonderful and refreshing place for us to plan and have our wedding and honeymoon. Everyone there treats you like family and they went out of their way to make the joining of our families the most wonderful and memorable event ever.

We do plan coming again as time allows. I recommend at least visiting once and enjoy the true relaxed atmosphere of Jamaica at Lost Beach Resort. The privacy and quiet, away from all the hustle and bustle yet just a few minutes from Negril, makes it a wonderful getaway. Expressing the true feel and hospitality of Jamaica is definitely their priority. It’s perfect for the family, too! Many thanks to all there.

I can't convey in words what a wonderful time my family and I have everytime we stay at Lost Beach. If you've ever been to Jamaica, you'll very much appreciate the IRIE (COOL-GOOD) feeling that Lost Beach radiates, and it's so close to Negril! I'd recommend Lost Beach to EVERYONE! I know that you'll enjoy your stay.
P.S. The seafood doesn't get any fresher!
